After traveling across Europe and staying at multiple hotels for our honeymoon, we can confidently say the Villa Olmi was our favorite. I reached out to the concierge Aldo ahead of time with a few questions about the hotel and for restaurant recommendations in the city. I was amazed at how quickly he responded and his excellent customer service. When we arrived at the hotel, he recognized us from the emails. The resort itself is beautiful and luxurious. We enjoyed walking around the spacious grounds and our room was very high quality. The day we arrived, we tried a craft beer tasting at the bar and ate dinner at the restaurant. The food and (as with everything in the hotel) service was exceptional. We used the shuttle service to get into town, which was fairly convenient, although if you have late dinner reservations you will have to take a cab back into town. Overall could not be more satisfied with our stay and hope to come back again soon.

If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Florence the Villa Olmi Resort in Bagno A Ripoli offers a quiet oasis. This MGallery Collection hotel is located just 10 minutes outside of the heart of Florence, southeast of the Arno River. The lush gardens and scenic views of the Tuscan hillside add charm to this historic country estate. All of the rooms at the Villa Olmi Resort are furnished with antique furniture and paintings so you feel like you've stepped back in time. While some may prefer a more modern setting I thought that the Villa Olmi Resort was very romantic and charming. The rooms are older, but do provide modern amenities such as a mini bar, plasma television, Jacuzzi bathtub, free WIFI, hair dryers, and an in-room safe. Before we booked this room we were considering staying in the Tuscan countryside, but we were worried that if we stayed too far outside of Florence we would get bored. The Villa Olmi allowed us to feel like we were in the countryside without actually being in the countryside. The one downside to staying in Bagno A Ripoli was the cab fees. We spent 150 euros on cab fare during our three day stay. The most expensive cab rides were the 50 euro cab from the airport and the 40 euro cab fare to the train station. The Villa did provide a shuttle service, but there were only two shuttles in the morning at 9am and 10 am and two shuttles in the evening at 5pm and 6pm. Most restaurants in Florence do no serve dinner until 7pm so if you take the evening shuttle back to the villa your only dining options are at the resort or walking/ taking a taxi into Bagno A Ripoli. None of the restaurants near the villa were appealing so we did dine at the resort twice and while the food was good for "hotel food" the food was not great. Breakfast on the other hand was absolutely fantastic. For 16 euros we were treated to a buffet of exceptional fruit, pastries, Italian meats and cheeses, juice and wonderful espresso. While this resort is very pretty and romantic I personally think it is more convenient to stay in the historic heart of Florence. If the Villa Olmi would provide later evening shuttles at 8pm and 9pm I would definitely stay here again.

The room and bathroom were spacious, luxurious, and beautifully designed. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and every detail of the experience felt thoughtful and elevated. The amenities were fantastic -- especially the unexpected happy hour at the bar, which was such a lovely touch. And the breakfast buffet? Truly unmatched. I'm convinced every future hotel breakfast will pale in comparison. I still think about the incredibly fresh raspberries and strawberries I had every morning! I also loved the robes and slippers provided in the room, which made the stay feel even more comfortable and indulgent. The location is perfect -- close to everything and just steps from the Duomo, yet surprisingly peaceful and not overly noisy. The hotel itself smells amazing and is decorated in such a beautiful, modern style. I honestly can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel. It was worth every penny, and I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

When we got to our room, we loved the view overlooking the street, just one block from the Florence Cathedral. The room was very comfortable, especially after arriving in the rain. As we explored the city, we spoke with Noemi at check-in and asked about the spa services they offered. She was a good listener and helped decide on a package. We looked through the brochure, and she recommended booking in advance to ensure availability. We decided on the €295 couples package, which included a couples massage 30 min/each. The private spa would be booked for two hours total. We booked it for the following day, and she informed us that cancellations were not allowed within 24 hours. Not only was the hotel stay excellent and the service top-tier, but the spa experience was on another level of luxury. We were escorted to a private spa area that included a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, bathroom, shower, robe and slippers. The massage therapists each gave us a relaxing 30-minute massage. Snacks, berries, and wine were also included. We chose to have them delivered to our room afterwards but you can have it during your spa allotted time. I must say, for any special occasion, this experience is absolutely worth it! Besides the comfortable room and friendly staff, the spa treatment was hands down the highlight of our stay. I can say with certainty that when I return to Florence, I wouldn't be able to stay anywhere else.

I checked in the hotel very late the caretaker was helpful and nice. He even lugged my heavy ass luggage to my room. Getting to rooms is where it starts to get weird ... it's like you have to leave bread crumbs down to make sure you find your way back to where you started. Literally out down over through up turn left right I was like wtf where am I going. Yes it is a very old hotel or whatever. It is like a scary movie I felt Norman Bates or Jack Nicholson was waiting for me at any second. The place is huge and very very eclectic. It's very unique I mean if it were a house I would love to live there because of the uniqueness. But I have to admit pretty spooky at night but the room is comfortable clean the AC blasted water pressure cool. I find in Europe most Queen beds are twins together so that didn't bother me the tub was clean I didn't have to wear shower shoes. The only drawback was NO IRON so most of my clothes I wore stretched since I couldn't iron. No coffee machine it had a fridge. They mentioned something about misquotes but I didn't have an issue. All in all it is different yet cool and very close to a lot of stuff.

Although we had a number of non-standard needs due to multiple family members arriving at different days and times, everything went very smoothly and the staff were gracious and accommodating. Special thanks to Erika and Laura who helped us set up some storage for our luggage for the several hours post-checkout as well as arranging a cab for travel outside the city. Really everyone was super helpful and we intend to return at the next opportunity! The hotel itself is also fantastic and represents the classical Italian aesthetic ina very appealing way. Good WiFi, excellent breakfast buffet, no hotel restaurant but super nice courtyard. Reasonable cost, 10 minute walk to the Duomo and Central Market. Decent AC and bathrooms! Thanks for the experience Hotel Monna Lisa!
