Very hospitable, great location, safe and quiet with luxe amenities. I mean, a person can nitpick anything, right? There isn't much to find wrong here. From the amazing rooftop view to the staff who are all willing to engage and share recommendations and anticipate your needs, to the very good breakfast, it's all done nicely here. Very clean. Tastefully appointed, lots of open space to gather or isolate, I highly recommend it here. And i don't just rave about every place. I did slip out at 3am for a smoke. The clerk seemed annoyed about unlocking the front door and one of very few passers by was pretty sketchy. Back inside, the new security shift didn't recognize me and obviously observed me to make sure that I belonged, without being insulting or TOO conspicuous. Just enough to let me know that safety is a priority. Next door to the national library and so close to amazing restaurants, shopping, and sight seeing. Ok l, every trip has an ordeal. Ours was that the taxi app didn't help from the train station. So, it looked like a short walk. Let me tell you, with loaded backpacks, crowded sidewalks, and humidity, it was NOT a short walk. Nice, nice, nice hotel located on the Arno River. All the amenities one could ask for by American standards. It is within walking distance to most major shopping areas, and most historic sites, including the Ponte Vecchio. A superb breakfast is included in a stay for about €300~ $ 340 pp nite. Service is excellent especially when Luca, a staff member , greeted us on a few occasions. Nice bar, nice dining room, and a very pretty lobby with a rooftop pool and bar. The view from this hotel is amazing! Totally worth it for that alone. The breakfast left something to be desired though. With that being said, the pistachio filled croissants in the morning were very good. Our room was very cute and quaint. Small but what do you expect in Italy? It was so hot in there though and the air would only go down to a certain temperature and it was still so hot, so we slept with the window open every night, which unfortunately then brought bugs. That was not the worst of it though, the bed was one of the most uncomfortable beds we have slept on. It was literally rock hard. The bar however was probably our favorite thing about this hotel. Not only were the bartenders SOOO nice and friendly, the drinks were also AMAZING! We kept drinking this apple whiskey drink and it was next level. I am not a whiskey drinker, but this drink was absolute perfection. We were really excited to use the rooftop bar but it was closed when we were there which was a shame because a lot of people were up there, so they missed out on some money. It would have been nice to see some heaters our there and them do some evening drinks. It was still a great view though. Overall, I think it was a nice hotel. I don't know that we would stay there again, but the view and bar were amazing. read more

This is a very nice hotel right on the Arno river. We had a two room suite With all the amenities I could ask for including 2 TVs. The staff is both friendly and efficient as you would expect. The room, lobby, restaurant, rooftop pool are all elegant. Our room did not have a view but it rained some of the time we were there anyway. Situated less than 1km from the Ponte Vecchio, it was easy to walk to most places. read more

While traveling thru Italy with my husband. My travel agent book this hotel. All I can say, We shall return!!! We loved everything about this hotel. Short drive from train station to hotel. We had private transfer who dropped us directly in front of the hotel. Upon entering , someone open the door and greeted us immediately. Once up the marble stars, to the left you see the bar and lounge and to the right was the front seat and turn more to the right are many sofa and display cases of different kinds of items. Once you turn left - the elevators are present. We were on the 2nd floor room 206. When we first entered the room, I was disappointed right away. I saw 2 twin beds. I asked the female hotel representative to go back and please change the room. But then the male porter with our luggage said, no there is also an upstairs bedroom. So i was really happy with the room, once I found out what room we had. 2 bathrooms, 2 twin beds and a king size bed. This hotel room was beautiful. Very clean.. they also provide you a place to charge your phone - ports for different chords. They also offer you a hotel phone free of charge. You can use it to make calls and use goggle maps for your travels. Again key word is FREE. They have turn down service and nice cozy slippers which are place on a mat on the floor. Our room was facing the river. On the 4th of July there were fireworks outside our window. They we beautiful. The service was outstanding. I highly recommend this hotel. When I do go back to Florence, I will definitely return to this hotel. read more

The Good: :: it's a local business, not part of some boring chain :: the location is on a very quiet part of Florence, which is great :: they give you a book to take home as part of your stay :: bed was very comfortable :: main bar on the lobby floor was nice :: you can get an incredible view of the city and sunset from the rooftop bar! The Bad: :: it's a little bit of a walk away from the main part of Florence :: the pool is nothing to write home about...it's like an afterthought thrown on the rooftop. it's like the rooftop doesn't know what it wants to be: does it want to be a pool area for relaxing? or does it want to be a rooftop bar? it does both things not well :: halfway shower glass wall instead of a curtain meant that water got out everywhere The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? Probably not. It was extremely expensive and I didn't feel I got my money's worth for what I paid. This place is IN (but not enthusiastically). read more

This is a modern hotel with specious clean rooms. It does not have the charm that some small hotels have, but my stay here was very comfortable and I'm sure you'll agree. The AC worked great, which is important because there are a lot of mosquitos in Florence. This hotel is right on the Arno river and is within walking distance from major sites. The biggest selling point, in my opinion, is their rooftop bar. It overlooks the city of Florence. The biggest drawback of this bar is that, at least as of last summer (September 2015), they only served snacks, not real food. Nonetheless, the view of the city was amazing with the Duomo looked so close. My girlfriend and I were stunned how well they took care of us. We had made a reservation through a third party site. When we arrived, they did not have our reservation and they did not have a room for us for the first night! We freaked out and got upset initially, but they just took care of us so well. We didn't even have to "fight." They put us up at Ville sull'Arno, a 5 star hotel (and spa) for the first night and paid for our dinner and cab rides. We didn't really understand what they meant by "We will pay for your dinner." We celebrated our first night in Florence with expensive dinner at the Ville sull'Arno, and there was no charge!! Here is my dream plan for my next trip to Florence. I will probably stay at the Ville sull'Arno to relax although it's far from the city center. I will go to the rooftop bar at Lucchesi in the early evening to enjoy the view of the city over a glass of wine. Disclaimer: I stayed at Plaza Hotel Lucchesi around this time last year (mid-September 2015). Depending what you want to do in Florence, this hotel has a pretty nice location not too far from anything. We went 4 star hotels across the board for our 12 night Italy trip, and all the check in staff has been super friendly and helpful. Lucchesi has a very nice looking bar and lounge area when you first walk in to the left of the lobby. Prices are a little higher than Rome and Sorento, but hey we're on vacation and from Los Angeles so we're used to it (Find local hole in the wall bars or convenience stores if you want to stay cheaper). The room was decent size for a European room, nice view of the river, and hard mattress but that's what we prefer. The rooftop pool and bar was very nice with great views, we spent some time up there but never went in the pool sadly. I used the laundry service which was pricey but I had no choice. They did a great job, shorts and shirts pressed and individually wrapped in plastic bags. Everywhere in Italy has been an issue for mosquitoes this trip, I'm guessing due to summer time and humidity. This hotel gave us a few more bites than normal, maybe being close to the river? Plan accordingly, bring bug repellent anywhere you go in Europe in the summer time. Everything else was great, checkout was a breeze. Most hotels were requiring cash only for the city tax upon check out, but they let me put the whole room charge on my card. This is a very nice hotel which is a close walk to downtown. It's definitely luxurious for European standards.

I had higher expectations of the Lucchesi. Pluses: -Concierge was knowledgeable and helpful -Rooftop deck was incredible. Great View and service. -Delicious breakfast Negatives: -My biggest issue is the bathroom which is not very convenient. Shower is set up strangely so it soaks the floor if you have it on a higher pressure. Also there is no counter-space to put anything on. -My other gripe was that housekeeping was substandard. Robes being removed and not replaced. Only 2 bath towels in the room when three people are staying. Broken garbage can not replaced when it was obvious it needed to be fixed. -Also, you have to constantly login to wireless. Also keep in mind the hotel location is outside of the city center so you may need to take taxis, especially if you are taking early morning tours and have pickups downtown. read more

Nice hotel it sits right along the Arno river. Hotel staff was very attentive. We arrived around noon having taken the train from Rome. They immediately had the room ready for was which was great allowed us to take a shower and be able to catch our tour in the afternoon. Location is nice not so much noise as the downtown hotels. It's about a 20 min walk to downtown were the duomo is and meeting points for tours which was not bad. Room was nice and had amazing views of the river. The only downside was that there is no screen on the window. But other than that everyone was great. Ohhh almost forgot their deck upstairs where the pool is located is amazing highly recommend go their for sunset and drinks! read more

This hotel is extremely nice and the staff is friendly. I gave it a low rating due to one huge issue. I paid for a great room so I can rest in peace while traveling. This hotel is unbelievably noisy because of the beach party that happens almost every night. The music often continues until 1-2am and is directly across the street. What a beautiful hotel, right across from the Arno river and walking distance to Ponte Vecchio shopping area of Florence. The hotel is gorgeous. The lobby is beautiful, the bar in the lobby is immaculate and the rooftop bar and pool is amazing. During the day, it was so lovely to sit and relax and have a cocktail and at night the views of the city are just spectacular. The rooftop bar closes at 12am, pool closes though by 7pm The breakfast was so beautiful, a great selection of fresh foods set up in a way that made me want to take pics. Our room was cute, bathroom a little small, but the views as I layed in bed made me so happy. I got bit a million times by Mosquitos, I think bc the river is so close. We stayed in some great hotels while in Italy and this location was probably my favorite... gorgeous build out, beautiful design, clean and the staff was attentive, engaging and provided outstanding service. The room was on the smaller side but the bed and linens were very comfortable and the bathroom and other amenities were top notch... great shower pressure, AC worked perfectly and the view wasn't bad either. Rooftop bar provides breath taking views... 25 bucks per person for a nightly happy hour buffet with charcuterie, pasta and light finger foods. The drinks are a little pricey when compared to other local bars but well worth the experience IMO. Downstairs library bar great too. The bartenders were charming and attentive... the perfect place for an afternoon beer or wine and some snacks. The breakfast buffet was truly world class... fresh baked goodies, charcuterie, hardboiled eggs, soft scrambled eggs, cereal, yogurt, etc. If you're looking for a hotel in Florence that is walking distance to Duomo, Academia, tons of shopping and great restaurants --- look no further --- you will not be disappointed. read more

The hotel was under construction when we were there. They were very accommodating and our room didn't hear any of the issues. The updates were great and will be a beautiful finished product when done. We were also on our honeymoon and they left some towel art and prosecco for us. The complimentary breakfast was fresh and very good. It was the same every day but the food was good quality. The bar was nice each night. It has decent snacks and good priced bottles of wine. We went daily to the bar in the afternoon or evening. The 2 gentlemen working were very friendly and remembered us each night. HOWEVER we checked out at noon- left the bags with the staff and told them we are getting a sandwich down the block to bring back. When we came back with lunch the bartender caused a HUGE scene and told us we couldn't eat in there. We went to the front desk and they said yes- the bartender said no and the gm had to get involved. The bartender literally yelled down the hallway to the front desk growing the situation. It was a stupid argument with no one down in the bar. I understand the principle but we had been in the bar the last 3 nights. Also it was all about the attitude of the rude female bartender. So we ended up being able to eat our sandwiches, in the lobby not the bar - so couch vs table. I would have highly recommended this place to everyone - a deal for a 4 or 5 star place. But now I can't wait to leave. And my delicious sandwich is a waste. read more

In a word - FABULOUS!!! The Lucchesi hotel is stunningly beautiful with the most gorgeous rooftop restaurant, lounge and pool you can find anywhere in Florence. The view are life altering and the staff is amazing. The rooms are decent size with monster bathrooms very well appointed. The bedding is to die for and they offer all sorts of pillows you can order in advance or when you arrive. The breakfast was included and it was a fresh lovely offering of local favorites and traditional British/American fare. All well done. I cannot say enough about this hotel. Only negatives were the internet, which required frequent login and it was a bit noisy. I have to say this place is pretty awesome for its position. Right in the center of Florence, offers a terrace view that leaves you speechless, surrounded by what is most beautiful about Florence's architecture. Inside, everything is accordingly decorated to richness and comfort. The aperitivo offered up in the terrace is served on a buffet table where you can grab tiny finger food delicacies different for each season. The bar offers the usual American choices and the establishment is built following a beach club line, all around a small swimming pool colored with changing lights. One of the corners is dedicated to live bands that usually play ambience music. The cost is 12 Euros, although there is no different price deal for further drinks after you paid the aperitivo and I think this is the only mole in their offer, together with the bathroom which is down the catering stairways, so not quite accessible for everyone. Expect to me amazed by the romantic view and definitively bring a date! read more

The best thing about our stay was we were given a smart phone to use outside of the hotel. It had GPS and free international calls and texts which was amazing. Went up to rooftop for a drink and were treated rudely...if you're not staying here save your money and go elsewhere....

We were so disappointed upon arriving that the hotel levied an additional 100 euro charge on our pre-booked hotel. Why? Because they claimed the reservation was for 1 instead of 2. We already had a queen bed room reserved, so even if our travel agent messed up and boomed for 1 instead of 2,how does this cause the hotel any extra $ and especially how does it justify them charging an additional 50 euro per night! Worse, as we tried to reason with the manager (who never showed his face) and explain to him that in the USA that's not how hotels work anyway, he refused to budge. Horrendous hospitality. Would not visit again by any means. read more

The restaurant was outstanding and we highly recommend it. It's not "hotel expensive" but rather refined and delicious Italian food.
