We spent two nights at Hotel Lungarno, and were able to book it with points through The Edit, Chase Travel's curated collection of partner hotels. It was a fantastic hotel, and we got complimentary breakfast and a $100 property credit, which we used at the bar. We also got a room upgrade, which was a welcome surprise. I think our Chase membership helped, as did our travel dates--Tuesday and Wednesday nights in mid-November. The location was ideal for our brief stay in Florence, literally on the Arno River and right by the Ponte Vecchio. Great views and we were able to walk everywhere we needed to go. Service was excellent, warm and responsive. The concierge booked us both Galleria dell'Accademia tickets and lunch at a popular restaurant. We didn't end up dining at Borgo San Jacopo, the hotel's Michelin-starred restaurant, but we did make good use of the more casual Picteau. We had breakfast there both mornings we were in town, and cocktails both nights. The hotel was very attractive, with a clean, classic, slightly nautical aesthetic. Lots of white and royal blue, with leather accents and a wealth of modern art on the walls. We stayed in a studio suite with a river view, and it was comfortable and pretty, with a committed, appealing aesthetic. There were a few points of awkwardness that made me think the hotel spent more time on design than on the practical, boring elements. Not enough outlets, and only one adaptor for the room; a shower that was bizarrely high off the ground; a TV that flicked on automatically at full volume every time we entered the room and turned on the lights. These are minor quibbles, though, and we were overall quite happy with our stay. As a bonus, the hotel is owned by the Ferragamo family, and guests get privilege cards that include, among other offers, a 10% discount at the Salvatore Ferragamo flagship store. I took advantage of this to buy a pair of shoes. If you're looking for a nice place to stay in Florence, I'd highly recommend Hotel Lungarno. This goes double if you can book through Chase, but the hotel checks every box even without extra perks. read more

My wife and I have been planning a trip for well over a year to visit Europe. We had an itinerary that started in Rome, to experience the Holy Doors, and end in Munich for Oktoberfest. Where to go in the middle, where to stay? As members of Hilton Honors, where to stay was narrowed to their properties. Where to go was based on historical and areas that interested us. We are so happy we chose to stay in Florence, the Lungarno, right on the banks of the Arno River, near the Ponte Vecchio was situated so close to everything we wanted to do in walking distance. The staff here is beyond welcoming. We arrived earlier than check in, so they held our bags as we made our way into the heart of the city. We wondered back at check in time and had a drink. We cannot express our surprise and gratitude the the hotel, for they upgraded us to an incredible room. The trip was a pilgrimage to Rome, and a celebration of my 60th birthday and our 19th wedding anniversary. We were taken to the tower suite, A multi story room in an 12th century stone tower! Words alone cannot describe what is behind a standard looking hotel door. Walking thru a stone archway upon entering leads down some steps to a 4 poster bed and then around to a set of stairs leading up to a sitting area, near the top of a brick vaulted ceiling. Enough about the room though, we had dinner outside at one of the few places that have on/ over water dinning that we saw. Spectacular service and a romantic setting sure made our anniversary special. Breakfast could have been had out doors as well, but we chose the inside dining due to the early morning chill. A wide variety of food is available, buffet style. The hotel also houses the owners art collection and among the dozens of pieces is a Picasso! Lovely hotel with super comfortable rooms/beds and great relaxing views of the city. The river view studio suite has a very nice marble bathroom with extra large shower. About a 0.9 mile / 20 minute flat walk from train station. 30-minute self-service credit-card/cash laundromat is also 1-2 blocks away which was super helpful for a mid-trip refresh. Countless restaurants within walking distance as well as museums and historical sites. Book skip-the-line passes at least one-day in advance for anything you want to do here. read more

We had a wonderful short stay here (2 nights) and that's what I'd recommend you do, espeically if it's your first time in Florence (ok, maybe 3 nights, but it wasn't my first time). A sister property to the Portrait Firenze right across the river, the two hotels are very similar in vibe, though the Lungarno feels a bit more like a yacht club. We had a junior suite room overlooking the river, nice, large, comfortable, and with good (and needed a/c). We also had a rando-room (picked at check-in) that ended up very nice on the 7th floor with a deck. Breakfast is very good. The lounge/patio bar is nice but service is on the slow side and the patio gets overloaded with tourists. The food has a limited menu but is pretty good (e.g., the truffle pasta). The pizza was not good. The location is tricky if you're driving so best to arrive in a taxi or van. read more

Hotel Lungarno is the best of the best! Look no further! We've stayed at many hotels in Florence and this was by far one of the best experiences we've had in Italy, period! We were greeted by the fabulous Imran upon our arrival with an easy check in and thanks to booking via AMEX we were upgraded to a room with a spectacular balcony overlooking the Ponte Vecchio. It was sublime and as picturesque as it gets! The staff was always attentive and gave us terrific recommendations of things to do in the city with perfect restaurant choices too! The hotel is adorned with masterful works of art, and the bar/lounge area is a gem that is not to be missed! We would start and finish our evenings there. We cant say enough about this hotel, the staff, and our stay, and would like to give a shout out to the amazing and attentive Imran and Ilaria, they are top notch! Five stars all the way! read more

Having the experience of staying at 6 5-star hotels within the past 3 weeks of my European vacation, this one ranks far worse than any other I've been to. The showers were very short and caused me, a 5 foot 7 inch-tall woman, to hit her head numerous times. Imagine the detriment it would do to a 6-foot man. Additionally, the lobby, breakfast area, and rooms were never up to my cleanliness standard, if not dirty. There were scratches on the wall and the silverware I received at breakfast was dirty. I'm very disappointed in this hotel because the beauty of the outdoors could have been a nice standard to want to live up to! read more

Lungarno is perfection in every sense. The hotel manager Ilaria Esposito is the definition of excellence in customer service. She helped us with a difficult reservation with professionalism and grace. Our concierge, Imran, always booked the best restaurant for each evening adjusting to our requests. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices and very good service. The house keeping staff were courteous and helpful late in the evening. What can I say about Hotel Lungarno? Magnifico! Located in a beautiful spot across the Ponte Vecchio away from the crowds, but not isolated from the action. We stayed in a beautiful deluxe room with two little Juliette balconies overlooking the Arno and Ponte Vecchio. The room was a comfortable size, plenty of closet space (for all the of the goodies you will buy in Florence) and the bathrooms are well appointed. The decor throughout is classic and understated, with tailored slipcovers, vintage wood furniture and a delightful collection of artwork which includes Picasso and Cocteau. The hotel feels a bit like you are staying at someones home. The service is topnotch, the staff was friendly and quite helpful. They turn the heat off in late spring, but this year was unseasonably cool, so our room was quite chilly. They immediately dispatched a space heater to us when we called the front desk. We also had a debacle with our car rental reservation which could have ruined our day trip out into Tuscany, but the concierge helped us sort it out quickly, and we were on our way. Breakfast buffet is very good, there are many choices for your breakfast eating style, from pastries, eggs and sausage, to fruit, cheese and Parma. If you are American, don't expect the typical "American Breakfast," after all you are in Italy, and "when in Rome..."-- well in this case Florence. For a real gourmet experience I recommend at least one dinner in Lungarno's restaurant, Borgo San Jacopo, the Chef puts together an amazing seasonal(?) menu. We love fine dining, but we are not ones to go all-in for quail eggs and sweet pea foam, but I must say we loved our meals, as well as the overall dinning experience. And just in case we were not sure how Delicious the food was, the picture taking (of the food) and sighs of delight coming from the foodie couple across from us put our minds to rest. However, if that is absolutely not your cup of tea, and you feel like something other than the usual Italian fare, have the club sandwich in the lobby/ lounge, as a matter of fact go back for a second one. I don't know what they do to that sandwich, but I still think about it today. *Off the beaten path, yet VERY convenient. *comfortable well appointed rooms. *Beautiful views. *Great service, helpful and friendly Staff. *Fine dining *Elegant yet charming atmosphere I can't wait for my next visit! read more

One of my favorite small, luxury hotels in all my travels. My wife and I have stayed here numerous times and they never disappoint. We brought our 3 kids here and they loved it too. We just finished a four night stay and I can't wait to come back. This is a Ferragamo Hotel and one of four hotels in Florence. Not a detail is missed. Beautifully designed - our room (329) was so special. We gave up the view to have a bit more space and it was well worth it. A wonderful breakfast started it day. IF you are in a hurry - you might plan ahead as the service is excellent at the restaurant but at a very relaxed pace. The front desk staff is a wealth of knowledge and recommendations. From restaurants to shops to wineries to truffle hunts - they really helped us. I did not feel like we were sold or simply going to places because they were compensated. We had an extended say due to a flight cancellation and stayed on the top floor with a deck. The view was amazing and the fresh air at night made sleeping so relaxing. A central location allowed us to walk nearly everywhere. read more
