Amazing experience. We've stayed at many other Marriott properties: the JW, the Ritz etc but this takes the cake. Paco in the front was so nice and helpful. He set up such a nice dinner at the river for us. Rebecca our lovely butler was so kind and efficient. It made our stay luxurious and memorable. Will be planning our travels around the St. Regis locations. Can't express how grateful we are for the hospitality and the beautiful historic property. The location was so close to the Plaza Repubblica. It was really hot this summer but otherwise everything would've been super walkable. Great for kids and families as well. We were on a Tauck tour of Florence and they booked us at this hotel for two nights. It was fabulous. The lobby is beautiful. All staff members were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are beautiful as well as comfortable. The breakfast buffet had so many good looking and tasting items on it. We also had a group lunch our first day there and the food and desserts provided were great, especially the spinach and ricotta ravioli and the cheesecake. read more

This was our second stop in our travel through Italy. From the moment we arrived. We received an amazing service. They had us feeling like royalty. The Hotel is about .5 of a mile from the train station. On a normal day we would walk it. It was raining so we had to take a taxi to the hotel. From the moment we arrived the experience was completely amazing. They sat us down and explained all the services being offered, we even have a butler to provide extra services as needed. The room was clean, and well maintained, personalized to our likes with small details. Our Butler had brought our luggage from below while we were being greeted and going through check-in. Within our room , we were greeted with a bottle of bubbles to celebrate our honeymoon and our butler was there to explain and recommend anything we needed. The exceptional detail to service and the rooms is amazing. On our first day we rested once arrived for a few hours before we headed out to explore for a bit. When returned that evening to our surprise the staff had performed "turned-down" service in our room meaning while we were out they came in and redid our bed., checked to ensure we had what we needed and on each side of the bed we had their signature slippers ready for us. This was definitely an amazing experience the both my wife and I will not forget. The service, the detail the 6pm "Sabrage" ritual at the bar. What a way to kick off our silver anniversary tour of Italy with the jaw dropping Medici themed suite on the Arno. We had a fabulous stay at the St. Regis. The location is great. It's right off the Arno and on a piazza where there is a rotating craft and flea market. It's a great central location, less than a 30 minute walk to most of the important attractions. The staff were really attentive. The concierge staff gave generally reliable advice. The bar is a lot of fun. Guests receive complementary glass of champagne between 6 and 7 pm. There is a fun champagne sabering ceremony every evening at around 6:30. We were upgraded to a junior suite. It was gorgeous and we really enjoyed the sitting area. The bathroom was great with one of the best hotel showers that I have ever used. My wife and I appreciated the double sinks. The housekeeping staff were great. The St. Regis is a bit of a splurge, but it made our stay in Florence special. This is our first choice when we visit. read more

Stunning property right along the Arno river! A great location with everything within walking distance! The rooms are beautiful, service exceptional. A shout out and thank you to Anna who absolutely went above and beyond not only to tell us about the property but to give us some history on our surname in Florence and surrounds. She gave us hints and tips as to where to go! Absolutely loved our stay and only wish it'd been longer! The staffs make you feel like old friends! Very passionate ! Breakfast is good with fresh squeeze fruit & vegetable juice , fresh fruits, succulent omelets, lot variety fresh made pastries , especially the croissant crema. Now as for the location, The hotel is conveniently located ~15 min walk from Santa Maria Novella and so many other Renaissance architectural wonders! The onsite restaurant is excellent, and there is so much within walking distance: many restaurants, DaVinci and Galileo museums, Uffizi Gallery, gelato shops, high-end shopping, etc. The hotel also has full-service concierge, spacious modern elevators, and spacious suites with great amenities. Everything about the St. Regis Florence was flawless. We arrived in Florence after a 3 night stay at The Gritti Palace in Venice and had set up car service prior to arrival from the Florence train station. The St. Regis Florence sits on the Arno River and is in a beautiful square and in close proximity to everything you would want to do. The bell man greeted us and didn't let us lift a finger with our baggage upon arrival; we checked in at the very posh lobby desk and this was the only hotel in the Marriott Bonvoy hotel group on our 16 day Europe vacation that did not upgrade us and that was perfectly okay; and the check in agent even apologized for that and that wasn't necessary! We actually believe that we may have gotten the 'worst' room in the house as it faced the elevator and at first it aggravated me and I thought we were going to call our butler when we first were shown the room , a perk that comes with every St. Regis room, and demand a change, as it's in our profile to NOT be near an elevator.. BUT the 'worst' room here is nowhere near bad! It was beautiful and the heavy wooded door that opens to a 'foyer' to the bedroom was soundproofed. I was pleasantly surprised! In fact there was an apology for a conference being at the hotel while we were guests and that would be the reason that we were not cleared to upgrade and that made all the difference. Our room was quite beautiful! The furnishings are ornate and antique; the drapes are floor to ceiling and puddle the floor; the marble in the bath is heavy and beautiful! NOT one thing is unnoticed in the beauty of the hotel! We were afforded free shoe shining by the butler; two clothing steam and pressing per person per day, ( this was awesome since we had been traveling so long and our clothing that was proper for high end dining was super traveled!); and for taking tea or coffee in the hotel suite upon request. There is twice daily cleaning and a turndown service. Another great perk to staying at the STR is there are 'St. Regis Experiences' such as : The St. Regis Bloody Mary , which is served from 12p-5pm, the true Bloody Mary recipe and you must try it!; St. Regis High Tea 12-330p; and my favorite, The St. Regis Champagne Sabering Ceremony from 7-8p. My husband was chosen one evening to saber the champagne and this was so much fun.. he was nervewracked to saber a bottle of cold champagne in front of a lot of guests, but he had help and did it perfectly .. AND no one lost an eye or was killed! We ended up with about 4 glasses of gratis Prosecco from the region ! Bowls of local olives; chips; nuts are served too. DO not miss having a Negroni here! The drink is original to Firenze! The Garden Room and Bar are beautiful decorated in crystal and Florence craft; Persian rugs and a grand piano with live music which sets the scene for all things that are perfectly lovely to the hotel. Eduardo was our favorite server here and his comrades were all so kind and lovely to us. We told them we were continuing on to Tuscany , ( Lucca and Barga) from Florence and they advised us of wineries and eateries and Eduardo even gave us his personal cell to call him if we needed any more advice! Breakfast was also amazing and served upstairs looking down into the beautiful Winter Garden. Another lovely perk to being a Bonvoy Ambassador. The chef will make you made to order eggs, Benedicts, pancakes or pretty much whatever you can't find on the expansive buffet. The cappuccino is amazing! You can also take this breakfast in your room per your butler for 10euro more. This set us up until dinner. Speaking of dinner, the Winter Garden serves a wonderful dinner menu, (reservations suggested), that serves Tuscan dishes as well as other Italian delicacies. We did opt to dine out in Firenze with the help of the concierge team and their suggestions and walking along the river to most shopping and eateries was perfect. I can't say enough about this hotel and how much I loved it; the service it provided; the beauty and elegance it portrays. The fun we had at the Winter Garden with our new friend, Eduardo! EVEN when we got our little Audi from the airport and brought it back to check out, the butler had brought our baggage from our room and had it ready to load into our rental car and Eduardo had a "ristretto' (strong espresso coffee) drink with us before we embarked on our trip to Tuscany! One more tip, The St. Regis Florence is across from the Westin which has an amazing roof top bar and 'happy hour' and also a great restaurant too! Highly recommend making time for at least a drink there too! We can't wait to come back someday and experience this lovely place! read more

It was my first time in Europe, on my honeymoon no less! My husband and I were gifted a stay at the St. Regis, which was phenomenal. I've been seen my husband get so excited about a hotel before. It was quite special, especially because all the staff made us feel like royalty. Our bed was even decorated with paper rose petals and a cute note. Aesthetics and customer service aside, the amenities were fantastic. Morning beverages every day started us off right. We didn't get a chance to try the restaurant downstairs (Winter Garden) but oh well. The bed was so comfy, there were some days we slept for 12 hours. Whatever, it was our honeymoon. Air conditioning was a luxury because we came on a hot week in Florence. Just every time we returned to the St. Regis, it felt like home. Such good memories. Not sure if I'll ever stay here again because it was a special treat for a special occasion, but that makes it all the more cherished. Everything about this property is polished and perfect... Let's start with the ridiculousness of rating the St. Regis in Florence. I mean, it is the St. Regis... is there any more anyone needs to say? No. HOWEVER, to be fair, I feel as though I should point out some of the lovely qualities I learned to appreciate while in Florence. The rooms. Big, fabulous, magical... blah blah blah... however, the attention to detail is phenomenal. Truly, they keep everything in perfect (and common sense order). The views. Overlooking the water. Beautiful morning light pouring in. It is everyone's dream and want when you visit Florence... you can't go wrong. The restaurant / bar... this I cannot rave enough about. Their staff are hands down superior. They remember you, they remember your drink, they dote on you without being a pest. They make sure you know that you are the most special person in the building, while doing the same for every other patron. If you ever visit Florence, highly consider the St. Regis as your place of accommodation. read more

This is a property undeserving of the Marriott Brand. I was staying with the Marriott Villas. Due to a last second mix up (Marriott Villas being totally unresponsive to email after me asking to extend stay, totally separate issue), I was forced to book here last second. Price was ridiculous for the dated room I got, which included a broken hot water safety on the shower (flat out dangerous). We had such a stressful day because we literally witnessed someone have a heart attack at cinque terre and that we had to have our Villas host move all our belongings to the hotel. They had open suites and I asked for an upgrade given that we were paying 1k for a night. They asked for an additional 2.5k. Telling about them this at check in the staff had no idea what we were saying and responded great to us saying we witnessed someone die due to their limited English. When I pleaded about the situation due to the villas mix up they responded: "we got nothing to share with with villas". Worst service I have ever received from Marriott staff. Totally disrespectful of the bonvoy program. This hotel should get kicked out so marriot has nothing to share with them! Spend your money elsewhere. read more

This hotel is AMAZING. It is a very old hotel with some great history. The rooms are not modern at all, but more like a old "fancy" type, but they are still very nice at the same time. The beds are amazing, and the restaurant in the hotel is great with a fabulous tiramisu. Unfortunately there is no outdoor dining situation, but you can go the roof top of the Westin right across the street. Great food and drinks in walking distance to the hotel, and good views from the room. If you are willing to splurge on the price, this is an excellent choice. read more

One of the great hotels of Florence. On the Arno river. Near everything you want to do in Florence. The rooms.are amazing decorated to the nines in Florentine grandeur. Restaurant serves elegant Italian cuisine and the bar is top shelf. Breakfast is amazing. Staff are terrific. Butlers for each room but we didn't need them. It's expensive - the westin is right across the way at about half the price. Less opulent but nice too. Lost of unexpensive food options just outside the hotel grounds. read more

We had a fabulous 3 night stay at this gorgeous hotel for a special occasion. The hotel is perfect for guests who truly appreciate an old world, palatial setting. Our Renaissance room (218) seemed out of a movie set -- over the top canopied bed, huge murano glass chandelier, heavy window draperies opening to an Arno view and a sweet little balcony! So very Florentine! While definitely on the smaller side, especially the bathroom, we found the room comfortable. We enjoyed the delicious buffet each morning in the stunning breakfast room (complimentary w/ our Platinum status) and the location was perfect for walking to all of the sites. Above all, we were blown away by the warmth and kindness of the staff. Every person made us feel special. They always greeted us warmly and went out of their way to be attentive and helpful. This hotel is not up to normal St. Regis standards, in my humble opinion. We stayed here for four nights for our anniversary, in a JR suite with our 1 yo baby. The room was ready for us--crib, champagne, even a happy anniversary layout on the bed. The room itself was weird. It was two levels, but the lower level was a narrow room. We put the baby crib in this room. The couch was weirdly close to the tv..if we actually watched tv, we would've had a headache for sure. The room was old, decent closet space. There were two bathrooms which was nice, w the typical st Regis eLemis amenities. Our butler carlo was eager and very nice on the first day. On the following days, he was not as nice. We only used the shoe polishing service once, it was prompt. And one morning when we skipped breakfast they brought tea and coffee. Breakfast is on the upper floor of the winter garden. One day it's fine but for more than 1 day, it's a very average buffet. There's not even a special menu for Sunday brunch. Service is decent, but the workers seemed young and not the most professional. The hot food ordering station was average. I tried the crepe, waffle and the eggs Benedict which was horrible. The spinach was a clump of frozen spinach and the hollndaise was disgusting, too strong of a mustard flavor. I was done w the breakfast by day 2. One day we were seated w the baby chair also, we went to get food and the waiter tried to give the high chair to another family, what? , oh, one perk is you can order fresh squeezed juice, which we got with ginger every morning. The service workers at this hotel are also a bit slow and clueless. I hAd called up for fresh slippers and after 3-4 phone calls, more than a few hours, it finally arrived. Annoying. Also the main entranCe only has a large heavy spin door. Most of the time there's not even anyone to help spin. So imagine me trying to push the stRoller in tHe teeny wedges and spinning through, very inconvenient. One more negative aspect is that I got severely bit by some bug on my second to last night. At least 4 bites on my chest and neck and then two on my arms. Be careful. Not sure I'd come back. The four seasons is hopefully better. read more

A very big and nice room with a nice view! The room is nice and airy. The view of the river is outstanding! The butlers service is very nice. They gave us free refreshment drinks too! Their service when up and beyond regular hotels. The concierge desk is also very helpful as well. You get two free ironed clothes per person! Not to mention an excellent bathroom with a bidet, bathtub, rain shower, and excellent shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Not to mention some excellent slippers. A lot of famous tourist attractions are only about 10 minutes away. Along with a lot of delicious restaurants near by. The breakfast is a very nice meal/buffet. If you want to eat in the hotel they have a nice bar and restaurant. This hotel is a very relaxing hotel. Staying at least 2 or more days is a definite "no-brainer"! We also slept in Westin which is next to St Regis but if you can spend about $50 more stay in St Regis We stayed in 3 hotels in Florence and we recommend St Regis hotel. read more

What a fabulous place to stop for a glass of wine when exploring Florence!!! The hotel bar is absolutely beautiful and the table service was stellar, including complimentary aperitifs ("aperitivos") !!! Check out my photos for a sense of just how spectacular the bar area is !! After exploring Florence for much of the afternoon, we were in need of a "respite" and "refreshment", and yet it was too early for us to proceed on to our restaurant for our dinner reservation. We decided to check out the hotel bar at the St. Regis, which has an impressive historic exterior, and is located right on the bank of the Arno River. Our party of 3 enjoyed 2 very nice glasses ("calice") of wine at €9 and €12 each, including a very good Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio. Our 3rd wheel ordered an outstanding Martini at €14, which was prepared by our bartender extremely well !! Of course, at €35 (about US$46 at current exchange rates) . . . for each of the 3 of us to enjoy a drink, this was an expensive choice as a place to stop for a drink. However, this was the St. Regis after all, and the overall experience still more than lived up to expectations as table service was outstanding, and included a selection of 4 different complimentary aperitivo's ("aperitifs") that were absolutely delectable. read more

Loved the service and location...everyday we asked the concierge for help in planning or booking tickets. They were so helpful, and after staying in multiple international starwood hotels, i would say you can expect the same great service. So many cool things a few blocks away - there was a supermarket where we stocked up on water, fruit, yogurt, snacks, and fiber cookies (trust me, this will make your vacation happier, not much fiber in italian food). Also a great forno (bakery) which i dont remember the name but im sure the hotel staff can help with. And we could walk to city center, the main Santa Maria Novella train station, and so many tourist attractions - very convenient! I spent a lot of money for room #423 overlooking the canal. I was met with one problem after another and was literally only in the hotel for 10 hours. Just an awful experience. Here is the list. Reminder: I was there for 10 hours. Concierge didn't call back me back after a reservation request. Shower drain was clogged. Shower leaked all over bathroom floor. The pen in the room was out of ink. No full size mirror Hotel keys are cumbersome and the room number/hotel name is on the key(bad security) Anytime I called any service from the room, it took 3-5 minutes for anyone to answer the phone. Ordered room service but they were out of ice cream and replaced items I ordered with items I didn't order without asking me. Didn't know their menu items. A party outside on the canal played really loud music until 4am. I asked the hotel to do something about it and they seemed frustrated by my request and then did nothing about it. When I explained everything that was wrong the next morning, there was very little apology and the only thing they offered to remove from the bill was the wrong room service meal which I wasn't going to pay for anyway because they got it wrong. Just terrible customer service. I will never stay at another St. Regis and I travel a ton. read more

This St. Regis has some upsides and downsides, here they are: Upsides: -Great building, hotel is absolutely beautiful. Bar area stunning. -Great location, walking distance to everything -Staff is very friendly. -My room was large and very beautiful -Butler services are nice, although they became a little strained as we approached Christmas / full occupancy. Downsides: -Shower was very small, even for a thin people like me. Door leaked. -Rooms were very dusty. I think they need to really do a full de-dusting, I can't imagine what the canopy above the bed is like -Service was friendly but a bit slow at times, especially as the hotel filled up over Christmas. -Concierge recommendations for meals were very touristy, do your own research before you go if you are a foodie. Overall, the upsides outweigh the bad. I look at the Four Seasons also, and I think this hotel is a better one to stay at. The location is way better, and the lobby and bar area is much more comfy. read more

I am a bit partial to St Regis properties. I think they are lovely. In Italy, especially so. The Rome, Florence and Venice properties are all beautiful, well served, historic and classy. Florence, is my favorite. It is beautiful inside and out, and small, intimate and exclusive. A location along the river means its a short walk to the Galleria, the Square, shops and everything else you want to see in Florence. The service is impeccable, the bar is gorgeously appointed and they make a fantastic Spritz. The feel of the hotel is a lot more comfortable than others. The size isn't very large at all, meaning you feel more like you are staying in a large mansion property than a hotel. The rooms are something else. Lovely beds, canopied with curtains, walk in closets with separate tub and shower, all in glass and marble with huge windows that open up to the sound of the river outside. Hardwood floors, flat screens and super high, adorned ceilings.... What a lovely hotel. Cannot wait to come back. read more

We just left our stay at the St. Regis Florence and overall it was great. Most of the staff was fabulous and beyond accommodating. I took off a star for a few reasons. The first being room service. For some reason it was impossible to get a hold of someone. I had to call almost 4 separate times to reach a person. When I did get a person they said that room service would call me back. This happened 3 different times over the course of our stay. The other reason is the hotel is noisy. All the doors in our room made creaking sounds and were hard to open/close. There was also a wedding there the night we checked in and the music literally shook the whole building. Other than those few minor hiccups it was a fabulous stay. I highly recommend the custard filled croissants at breakfast! They are amazing! read more

If there were ten stars available, I'd give the St. Regis twelve. I'm not sure where to even start here. I guess I'll just start with check-in. When I made the reservation, I let them know that this was a very special visit as it was my wife's birthday and we were also celebrating our anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in an upgraded room with a chilled bottle of champagne awaiting us along with a personal card from the GM of the hotel. Talk about a "wow" experience. The daily breakfast was included in our reservation and was always wonderful. Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic. The concierge was very helpful with arranging trips around the city. Every staff member seemed almost obsessed to "over service" you at every turn. Florence is an amazing city and The St. Regis made our vacation more than we could have ever imagined. Wow, what an utter disappointment. Where do I even begin? So they really try to impress you at the start - opening the door for you, immediately taking your luggage, cold hand towel to cool yourself...it's a beautiful sheen. But that's where it ends. Let me count the ways: 1. Room was not cleaned/serviced the first day at all. We left at 7:30am, returned at 5pm...and nothing was done. Well, except someone did come in to swap the water bottle. So there's that. 2. Evening turndown service just opens the door after one brief door knock without any warning - twice. Surprised me and my wife while we were changing last two nights. 3. Must call to have ice brought to room, can't get any yourself. 4. They claim they have shoe shine service, but it is anything but. First time requested, no shine or cleaning was actually performed - shoes were just put back in bag and returned. Mentioned it to front desk, they apologized and promised it would be fixed...and exact same thing happened next day. I just cleaned them myself the second day... 5. Windows are chain locked (apparently due to liability) even on the first floor. Nicely they offer you ability to unchain the windows if you sign away liability...so I did just that and confirmed with the front desk. Returned later that evening, windows were still locked. Left very early next day assuming it would be done, but never was until I again followed up at the front desk. 6. Asked upon checkin what paper we would like, requested Wall Street journal which they confirmed was available. Instead delivered New York Times. 7. Fire alarm went off for 5 minutes - no call to room or anyone on any floor alerting guests to cause (either positive or false). All of us went down to lobby...only to be casually told by the only person in the lobby that "it isn't a real alarm, we somehow set it off". Fire alarm continued for 10 more minutes. 8. Requested dinner reservation at local restaurant from concierge. Was told they would attempt to make reservation and let me know whether they were successful. No followup from hotel as to whether reservation was made or not, we just had to contact ourselves. 9. Wifi is horrible. Takes 30+ minutes to connect if you can connect at all, and repeatedly drops. Eventually gave up on second night after having it be more spotty than the poor 3G service here in Italy. 10. Drain in shower is placed directly under your feet when you stand in shower, so you end up just closing drain every time you try to take shower and tub fills with dirty water. That is, when the water isn't pouring onto the bathroom floor as the shower "door" is just a small piece of glass that barely covers a third of the shower. 11. A/C couldn't cool a closet, much less the whole room. We've had it running on the lowest temp for 48 hours and it is still hot and muggy in room. We are actually still here at the hotel but needed to write this review now because the number of issues were getting so high they were starting to blend together. All of these would be bad at a Best Western or Motel 6. The fact that this is the type of "signature service" given at a so-called 5 star St. Regis where the cheapest room rate is over $400/night is unacceptable. What a shame and waste of our hard earned money... UPDATE: To their credit, Stephanie the front desk manager did her absolute best to apologize for the terrible experience and compensate with points and some other perks. The hotel and restaurant are absolutely stunning! My husband and I stopped here to grab a bottle of wine and some dessert. We decided to sit outside because the view was amazing. The waiter was beyond great and was very friendly. Tuscany was one of our first stops in Italy and the waiter recommended multiple places we should go to, he even wrote them down for us. Good service goes such a long way. We ended up stopping back in for a second time because we liked it so much. read more

The St. Regis Florence exceeded my expectations from the moment I walked in the door. The recent remodel kept the charm of the building but made the common areas and rooms feel clean and more modern. All of the staff was very personable and attentive. The butlers went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They even setup little displays on the bed each night with the kids toys. Our Standford Suite was huge and very comfortable. The oysters, appetizers and champagne sabering was the most luxurious St. Regis "happy hour" we've experienced. Florence was also our favorite city in Italy since it is smaller than Rome and easy to walk around. This location went to the top of my list for St. Regis locations. read more

Our experience at the St Regis has been nothing short of amazing! From the decor, the food, the staff, everything was first rate. They treated us as royalty! And we used points for the room. Thank you to all the great staff at the concierge, the butler service and the bar staff at the restaurant. You made us feel special and helped make Florence something we will talk about for years to come.
