This is my kind of hotel. It's adorable and comfortable, and located right in the middle of Florence.
Don't stay here if you're too far out of shape...there are quite a few stairs. There's a sizable flight to get up to the first floor, where you can get an elevator to the upper floors (or, just take the stairs). If you press a button at the front door, they'll send someone to get your bags so you don't have to drag them up yourself.
I love the decor...it's colorful, eclectic, and fun. Really darling.
Our room on the third floor had a great view, with doors that opened to the outside (just a railing, no balcony); it was so nice to open them and get fresh air and be able to hear everything happening in the streets below.
A couple times was a bit loud (guests in the hallways, motorcycles outside), but I'm guessing that's part and parcel of staying in downtown Florence.
The minibar has a decent selection, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable.
The bathrooms aren't too roomy, but they're nice. Just watch out for the hair dryer--it'll shut off after a few minutes on high, and you'll have to wait several minutes for it to cool down. I didn't have a problem when I used it on the low setting.
The hotel offers a free breakfast from nine to noon. There's a nice buffet and a breakfast room, or you can pay €5 to have it delivered to your room.
When you step out of the hotel, you're right in the middle of the Rodeo Drive/Fifth Avenue of Florence, and a quick walk from the Duomo, Uffizi, and more.
According to a plaque on the outside of the building, George Eliot stayed there while she was writing Romola--a historical novel set in 15th century Florence. read more
