I traveled to Hotel Pierre with my college on a 5-day trip (faculty and students). There was a particular staff member (short, older man) who treated us students with utmost disrespect. Most of us our in our twenties, and we were treated like we were 5. When we would go out at night, whether it be for dinner or to bars/clubs, he would give us a curfew on when we had to be back. He said he would be locking the doors and would not open them for us if we returned later. He had it out for us the entire trip: every time we walked into the lobby, whether it be all of us or a couple of us, he did not smile, nor greet us. When we would go to his desk to retrieve our keys, he would grudgingly give them to us with a scowl on his face.
We also received numerous noise complaints and threats from him. He would bang on our door and tell us to quiet down. This would be around 10:00 at night...in Italy, people are just going out to dinner. This is not a time for us to be whispering. We were not allowed to play music or have more than a few girls in a room at a time.
On the other hand, many of us believe the hotel was haunted. I'm not a believer in ghosts, but after staying here, I definitely am. The first night, the door handle to my room (106) shook violently, and the lock was spinning around in circles. We immediately opened the door to see who was outside trying to get in, but no one was there. That same night, after turning off all of the lights, as I was walking towards my bed, the hall light turned back on. A few days later, we had an issue with our keys. At this hotel, the keys are attached to a paperweight that you leave at the front desk every time you leave the hotel. My roommate and I left our keys on the front desk along with a few of our other friends, and when we came back later that night our key was nowhere to be found. All of our other friends' keys were in the cubbies except for mine. The same old concierge man was very annoyed and kept yelling at us saying we were irresponsible and that we must have left our keys in our room. He took the master key and unlocked our door for us, and we showed him inside that our keys were not in our room. He went back downstairs, and not even two minutes went by that he was banging on our door with the key in his hand, saying it was sitting on the concierge desk when he got back downstairs. Keep in mind this was at 1:30 am, the hotel was "closed," all of the lights were off, and he was the only staff member on duty. Spooky huh?
Overall, our stay at this hotel was extremely unpleasant and we felt we were being babysat the entire time (along with being creeped out by ghosts). read more
