This is a great hotel experience in Florence. Palazzo Guicciardini is the former home of an Italian noble family and each room has frescoes on the walls and ceiling. The entire home was purchased last year and renovated into a hotel. If you can stay here, especially if you can get a good rate from an online site such as booking.com, then do it.
The staff is very friendly and attentive. This is also a very quiet hotel, with no street noise, something that you'll appreciate in Florence, especially if you have jet lag. The hotel is located on very quiet via Santo Spirito, just across the river. This might be a hike if you arrive by train or bus, but the location is perfect. First, south of the river is by far less touristy; you have more of a chance of eating with the locals. You can very easily get a good, reasonable meal at nearby Piazza Santo Spirito.
Second, you can easily enter and leave "downtown" Florence each day across the nearby Ponte Vecchio. The Uffizi and other sites are just a short walk away.
After I checked out, they were very glad to hold my bag for the day. When I returned in the evening to pick it up, they were quick to offer coffee if I wanted it, use of a rest room, etc. They are just that friendly. read more
