This was my first time ever going snow tubing and it was so much fun!!!! The slope has maybe five or six lanes. People can choose to go by themselves or connect themselves with a friend. I couldn't even tell you how many times I went, it was so much fun! The speed and bumps add to the exhilaration. There is a moving ramp so that you don't have to walk back up the slope. It's not too long of a wait between slides, probably about a 5 minute wait. Villa Olivia also offers skiing which I have not yet explored. It's also a banquet hall with plenty of spaces and rooms. I appreciated that there were indoor bathrooms and a rest area so that people could come in and warm up if they needed a break. There's also a concession stand inside with hot chocolate and some snacks. This winter was not a classic Illinois winter at all but they do maintain the slope so it's not melting away. Service was good, many of them enjoying letting us race and joking around. Our tickets were $30 per person for two hours which was completely fair in my opinion and very affordable. I think snow tubing is also a great activity for all ages and I did feel very safe. I really enjoyed snow tubing with Villa Olivia! I will definitely be back as I think I want to make snow tubing an annual winter tradition. I'll also be trying out skiing in the future!

This is a review for the skiing/snowboarding part of Villa Olivia. It's a very small ski area that is in the middle of the NW suburbs of Chicago. For that I love it. I don't have to drive up to Wisconsin or go to Colorado to get an afternoon or late evening ski in. This place is great for beginners. Don't go here if you want extreme sports or a challenge. The double diamond is more like a green run at almost any other place in the country. So why the 4 stars...cuz it's great for beginners and close to home. They are friendly, have all the rental equipment, lessons, one lift, have a small selection of gear for sale (goggles, hats, etc), make their own snow (so you usually won't find powder here unless it's snowing, but Midwest skiing is all about skiing on icy snow anyway), and they are open till 9:30 most evenings. Check out their website they go over all the details. Here's a little back story: So years ago I broke my wrist being an idiot and trying to do some ski jumps. I saw blue sky and then felt a crunch. Prior to this I skied annually for years and you would usually find me on the double diamonds flying down and loving the adrenaline high. After this...it took me 3 years to get back on a slope, and I had to force myself, barely challenging myself. So input Villa Olivia.... more years passed and this season I decided to get pass my fear that has now built up into a mountain...so I decided to start as a beginner.... on the bunny hills at Villa Olivia with a rope tow and a snowboard. Had a great time and hopefully I'll be back again next season. Baby steps.

My husband and I had the most wonderful experience planning our wedding at Villa Olivia. Lisa Parisi was so helpful in planning and being in contact whenever we needed her assistance. The banquet hall looked exquisite day of and they provided everything we asked for. My guests especially loved the beautiful sunset pictures, ginormous bar, and dance floor that fit all of my guests. AND because we booked with them, our cake was included in our overall payment for the hall!!! Highly recommend booking your big wedding day at Villa Olivia.

Now after attending, I can say that this spot really exceeded expectations. One of the best things about this spot was having a large variety of different areas for guests to spread out and socialize. This led to a much more relaxed atmosphere for talking than most weddings that I've attended (I'm not huge into dancing). Even throughout the afternoon and evening, it was very nice to be able to enjoy appetizers on the beautiful rooftop deck, enjoy music and dancing on the dance floor, while still being able to carry on a conversation in the large main dining room -- or head downstairs to lounge around to avoid the crowds and noise. As I attended for a family wedding, I was also able to utilize the generously sized suites that had more than enough room for everyone to bring items they needed and have space to get ready for the event. The Haight has done the look of a rustic venue better than most places that I've seen. One thing that I really appreciated is that the look is rustic, but the facilities themselves are in great shape and modern. There were also plenty of great photo spots all around the venue that were lit nicely and contributed to guests having plenty of photo opportunities that they could create on their own. For those who were looking to rest, I did enjoy having sofas and softer cushioned chairs available to relax in. Overall, excellent venue that I would love to attend another wedding in the future. A beautiful facility with friendly service and lots of space to move around make this a great gathering spot.

There truly is nowhere else that will give the same experience or the same level of service from Kari Haight or her assembled team of fairy god mothers. I'm tearing up thinking about it. From the start, Kari decorated the entrance lobby with photos of us and our families, and it was just such a thoughtful and special touch. The outdoor aisle and rooftop deck is unreal, and if you're getting married in fair weather it's SO pretty with the lights. The reception area- WOW. The vintage lights and hanging greens were gorgeous. They set up everything so perfectly that I felt like I was on a movie set. The dance zone is also a great spot by the bar and they keep the rooftop open so you can take breather and fresh air after dancing. I'm telling you, this place has everything you'd want for your wedding day! Finally-Kari has a great team, she and her staff and vendors not only give top of the line service and coordination, but they were so kind and took attention to every detail. So I'd definitely suggest going with her preferred vendors, they know what they're doing and then some. Also-I had a veil emergency and Kari raced to the rescue by providing me with one the day of! There's just nowhere or no one else that'll go above and beyond the same way.

DOUBLE BOGEY Not…read moreeven rain could stop our foursome from enjoying a round of 9 holes at this golf club in Bartlett. For the annual "EKGs for EGK" charity event, I joined Nichole C and a couple friends for a shotgun scramble on 9/29/19. Bartlett Hills Golf Club is located just off of Route 59 & Bartlett Road in Bartlett, IL. Bartlett? BARTLETT!! It had rained heavily the previous day, so the course was soaked but our spirits weren't dampened. The sandpits became small ponds, and the small ponds turned into large lakes. Soggy greens screwed up my short game something fierce. The fairways were pretty f*cked up and many were unplayable in certain areas. Shout out to the woman with the salty language who drove the beverage cart (you da real MVP!) They had a decent selection of craft beer in cans for $5, plus the usual domestic swill, some nice imports, and even White Claw for those who hit off of the ladies' tee. The halfway house looked like it could benefit from a fresh coat of paint and other touch-ups. Course itself was of moderate difficulty, nothing too crazy. We only played half a round on the front 9, so I can't comment on the back 9 holes. Bartlett Hills is definitely more a low-key country club than challenging like Cog Hill. Afterwards, we adjourned to the banquet hall area where our group enjoyed a hot buffet, raffle, and silent auction. Food was more than decent: burgers, brats, baked beans, macaroni salad, coleslaw, and desserts. Staff were on-the-ball (golf pun for the win!) and they took great care of us throughout the event. * TL;DR * You know what they say: a bad day of golf is still better than a good day at work. Well, I've had some pretty awesome days at the office......and some damn lousy days on the links. Despite the fact that the rain really affected play (puddles would literally swallow our ball), we tried to make the best of it. I'm really glad we attended the event hosted by Tracy K -- both my fiancée and I walked away with sweet raffle prizes! In fact, our whole table cleaned up nicely with more than half of us taking something home. I'd be more than happy to come back next year, albeit in more favorable weather conditions. ((For those still not 100% sure where Bartlett Hills Golf Club is, I'm guessing it's located in Bartlett County within The United States of Bartlett. That's just a guess, though))
