DOUBLE BOGEY Not even rain could stop our foursome from enjoying a round of 9 holes at this golf club in Bartlett. For the annual "EKGs for EGK" charity event, I joined Nichole C and a couple friends for a shotgun scramble on 9/29/19. Bartlett Hills Golf Club is located just off of Route 59 & Bartlett Road in Bartlett, IL. Bartlett? BARTLETT!! It had rained heavily the previous day, so the course was soaked but our spirits weren't dampened. The sandpits became small ponds, and the small ponds turned into large lakes. Soggy greens screwed up my short game something fierce. The fairways were pretty f*cked up and many were unplayable in certain areas. Shout out to the woman with the salty language who drove the beverage cart (you da real MVP!) They had a decent selection of craft beer in cans for $5, plus the usual domestic swill, some nice imports, and even White Claw for those who hit off of the ladies' tee. The halfway house looked like it could benefit from a fresh coat of paint and other touch-ups. Course itself was of moderate difficulty, nothing too crazy. We only played half a round on the front 9, so I can't comment on the back 9 holes. Bartlett Hills is definitely more a low-key country club than challenging like Cog Hill. Afterwards, we adjourned to the banquet hall area where our group enjoyed a hot buffet, raffle, and silent auction. Food was more than decent: burgers, brats, baked beans, macaroni salad, coleslaw, and desserts. Staff were on-the-ball (golf pun for the win!) and they took great care of us throughout the event. * TL;DR * You know what they say: a bad day of golf is still better than a good day at work. Well, I've had some pretty awesome days at the office......and some damn lousy days on the links. Despite the fact that the rain really affected play (puddles would literally swallow our ball), we tried to make the best of it. I'm really glad we attended the event hosted by Tracy K -- both my fiancée and I walked away with sweet raffle prizes! In fact, our whole table cleaned up nicely with more than half of us taking something home. I'd be more than happy to come back next year, albeit in more favorable weather conditions. I went here with my family for Mother's Day Brunch and we had a great time. Is it the fanciest of fancy brunches? No. But, you are not paying a ridiculous price either. I believe for 30 a person we had choices of- Breakfast foods potatoes sausage bacon pancakes scrambled eggs omelet station steamed veggies biscuits and gravy Seafood foods shrimp smoked salmon and all the fixings Pasta/Meat Pasta station ham roast beef Desserts donuts muffins fruit pies It also included AYCD wine mimosa soda tea coffee Overall, it was a very nice presentation for the price. Our server was also FABULOUS. I would bump it up to five stars had they made a few changes. 1. I wish things were marked gluten free (I had to ask) 2. I wish they had a cheese and meat tray 3. My husband and I had our wedding here in October 2017 - and it was a really great experience! Mary was amazing - she was so incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and patient (even when we showed up late to our tasting because I'd accidentally put the wrong time in my calendar)! Her assistant, Evan, was also super helpful. I couldn't have asked for a better team of folks! Mary was there the day of the wedding to make sure everything ran smoothly which was so great. Mary and Evan really made the planning experience painless. We chose Bartlett Hills because it was basically a one-stop shop, and was one of the most reasonably priced venues we found. It helps that the food was DELICIOUS! I heard their late night snacks were also great, though I was too busy dancing to try them! I also want to give a shout-out to Trinity (or a something similar - I'm so sorry for not remembering!)! They seriously went above and beyond! They were SO attentive - even protecting us from golf balls while we were taking pictures on the golf course :) Not to mention that they found some vegan ice cream for a few of our guests (which was totally unexpected)! Also - and most amazingly - they literally went through the trash to find our handwritten wedding vows that we'd thought were mistakenly thrown away when the tables were cleared. It turned out that a well-meaning family member had actually moved them, but that is a gesture we will honestly never forget. I hosted a bridal shower for my daughter at Bartlett Hills Golf Club in June 2021 that originally was scheduled for May 2020. So in addition to all of the typical details that need attention, we needed to deal with multiple postponements and ever changing restrictions that came with COVID. The end result was a beautiful event that everyone enjoyed. Service was prompt, food was good, setting was lovely. Evan, the events manager, was very helpful, accommodating and responsive to me during the planning and was on site throughout the event from set-up to clean-up to make sure we had everything we needed. Everybody that has discovered this course, has found it to be a diamond in the rough. As my friend once said, while we were playing, now I understand why it's called Bartlett "Hills" This course was originally designed back in the 1920s, it has been redesigned and rework since then, All making it better. This is a very challenging course, with lots of mature trees. This course is located just west of downtown Bartlett. Somewhat hard to find, but tough to beat. I attended a beautiful wedding there. The restaurant are was very clean and well kept. The staff was very professional. The outside patio, where the wedding was held, was perfect. The foliage was a good backdrop. It was like being out in the country. There also was a nice fountain in the pond. The food was from 7.5 to 8.5 in taste but 9.5 in presentation. I enjoyed it as did everyone else. Being this fresh and so close to Chicago is a good change of pace. read more

We just held a baby shower at this gorgeous facility I can't rave enough about Evan, Laura and the whole team that helped make our event unforgettable. From the first concept meeting to the final clean up, Evan was there to help plan, offer advice when requested and basically accommodate our needs in every way possible. We received a multitude of compliments on the shower and venue from all the guests, and I am so excited to know we have a date on their calendar for our next family party! Every year when the weather gets nice, we get together friends and my boyfriend's family for a rousing game of golf. This year we found ourselves here at Barlett Hills Golf Club. The holes are very long and on a lot of them I couldn't see the flag when I teed off, so I could only hope I was hitting my ball in the right direction. I must admit that I did pretty good for being the novice that I am because I was able to loft my ball onto the green in nine or less every time. Plus, I only lost one ball in the reeds, which means I'm hitting straighter than ever and my practice is paying off nicely. Finally. The rangers were very encouraging and they never had to yell at us to move faster, which meant that I was keeping pace pretty well, if I do say so myself. Even though golfing can be expensive, $47 for the green fee and $16 for the golf cart rental, spending the whole day out in the sun is worth every penny. Plus, the golf course is the only place that I know of where you can drink and drive legally and if you've ever seen an episode of "Entourage", then you will begin to understand how much fun our golf outtings can be and why I've become addicted to this sport. My only regret is not taking any pictures, so you all could see the sprawling beauty of this lovely golf course. I would certainly come back here again for another golf outting. I was here for a special event so I cannot address the condition of the course. It was an early evening ceremony and over half the guests were broiling in the sun out on the veranda. Couldn't some sort of covering be provided for the comfort of the guest and the 2 guests of honor? The windows are lovely and LARGE and had to have the shades pulled down so the guests could look at the head table. We really shouldn't have to squint indoors after cooking outside. The food was served as a buffet. I am not a fan of buffets in general, because your food is never even warm when you sit down to eat it. Now, I know, plated served meals aren't usually warm either and you take what you get. But, I have found that plated meals tend to end at a more consistent time. Some buffet dinners are just beginning while some are returning for seconds, which never happens with a plated meal, or sitting, waiting for their dessert. Getting our plates removed was an issue and once we finally got someone to take the dirty plates, they tried to take plates that people were still clearly eating. I thought it was strange that the Bride's Room was in the ladies' comfort station ( so the father of the bride has to wait outside in the lobby area) and I did not like that we had to walk through the reception room to get out to the veranda. This review is regarding weddings (I don't know a thing about golf). We got married July 3, 2011. It was amazing! I was looking for a non-cookie cutter venue, and the ceiling-size windows with the full view of the woods and fields just entranced me. We were also looking for a venue that was equidistant from my family in the north suburbs, my husband's family in the west suburbs, and our friends in the city. Mary, the venue coordinator, is extremely helpful. She responds to e-mails quickly, is very supportive of brides, and works with your dj to make everything run smoothly. The staff was amazing, very quick and friendly. We got tons of compliments about our location, and how pretty it is. You get a lot more for your money than you would in the city and many other suburbs. You get food, open bar, white chair covers, white chair ties, and cake. The only thing to keep in mind is that the bridal room is in the women's bathroom, so groomsmen can't go in there. The guests walk through the reception room to go to the veranda for the outdoor ceremony. I would recommend delegating some ushers (even if you weren't planning on ushers for the ceremony), just to corall the guests. Beautiful setting, excellent food, wonderful staff. Where do I begin....we just had our wedding at BHGC on Friday, October 5, 2012, and I cannot even begin so say how happy we are that we chose this place!!!! I promised myself I would write a review of all my wedding vendors I chose after my wedding was over, because that's basically how I chose everyone, by their reviews! I'm so thankful that I listened to the reviews on BHGC. Throughout the planning process, Mary was amazing at answering the gazillion questions I had. She was always sweet, excited for me, and never got annoyed or impatient. If Mary wasn't available, Evan was there to answer questions, and he was just as nice and helpful! Our tasting was so much fun. We got to try many different options to pick our perfect dinner. We decided to not go with the cake that was included in the package, so instead, we were able to use that towards a midnight snack, bonus!! I just thought that was so great of them ;-) Leading up to the wedding, I had a lot of last minute changes, and Mary and Evan worked with me to make sure everything was perfect (they are angels I tell you!). On the day of the wedding, the room was absolutely stunning! I wanted to have a warm, cozy, fall wedding, and that's exactly what I got at BHGC. The floor to ceiling windows overlooking the golf course with the colorful trees, beautiful pond and the sunset...just breathtaking. I cannot wait until we get our photos back! We received a lot of compliments on the food at our dinner. The homemade soups and sauces are wonderful. I had planned on taking leftovers from our midnight snack back to the hotel after the wedding, but even the sliders and pizza were so good, everything was gone!! ;-) The server we had at the head table was awesome! My husband, myself and our whole bridal party (16 all together) never had an empty glass! I have to mention the bar tenders as well, they were soooo friendly!! Usually that's not something I notice at a wedding, but they were just so sweet, kind and made great drinks! Nobody was complaining about weak drinks, that's for sure! haha I could probably go on forever about how great everything was, it was definitely the best day of my life, and I owe much of that to the staff at BHGC. A nice course to play at. My only complaint is every time I golf there, the greens are just flooded with leaves many times. I find myself having to clear the path more frequent than other courses. I've taken one lesson there and Bob was very friendly and has been a great help to my game. read more

This course was awesome to play and enjoy, couple weeks ago, we played afternoon as a 4 sum, players, just regular speed ,we almost done to finish one or two holes, one of staff approached us , and he forced us finish game, not even asked politely just made face horribly, I never experienced this kind of happening, he said he had to go home, it didn't make sense to us,if golf couse closed early, shouldn't accept that tee time, anyhow , maybe parkdistric or village hall golf course staff have discriminated, It will be big problems to your organization, read more

We've played the golf course several times of the last few years as well as participated in fund raisers hosted by BHGC. But this time we were just playing a round of golf. We finished up around 5:45pm, arrived home 20 minutes later when I realized that we had left our range finder in cart #13 on 6/8/2022. I immediately called and after a brief hold a woman told me that the pro shop was closed. I told her that we left our brand-new Nikon range finder behind (I had received it as a gift from my employer), and I would like to retrieve it. She said you'll have to call at 7am when they open. I called right at 7am, spoke with a man in the pro shop. He rifled through a drawer that held several range finders, but after detailing the make and color of mine, he said it wasn't here. Let me check the pro's office, maybe it's in there. He returned with a disappointing response of no - call back in an hour. I did, same disappointing response. Now, we knew our cart didn't go back out again that evening (we got in too late) and when I called the next morning, the carts had been inspected at 7am and as a matter of fact were out of the barn ready for the fundraiser hosted by the Bartlett Lion's Club. Obvious conclusion, the range finder was not returned but pocketed by someone. The golf cart personnel are supposed to check for lost items. So how is it that our range finder never found its way back to the pro shop or pro's office??? Foregone conclusion is that someone took it; I'll let you decide who. Can you imagine if I lost something like a cell phone or wallet with money???? Sorry BHGC, you lost some dedicated golfers. read more

I have been golfing at Bartlett Hills for 10 years and have always enjoyed the beauty of this course! The newer clubhouse is perfect for any wedding or event and the food is great. To top it off the staff on course and in the clubhouse have always treated us well and do a great job keeping play on pace. This review is only about my wedding, I have never played golf here. We just got married this past weekend. It was gorgeous! My one requirement for a wedding venue was that it have windows. I didn't want to be in a room and have no idea what time it was outside. Boy did I get my location. This place is all windows! Our reception started at 5PM (cocktail hour) and by dinner at 8PM we had the most beautiful sunset background. I can't say enough about Mary, the venue coordinator, she is extremely responsive, (e-mail - love that! and phone calls). She worked with us to have the reception the way we wanted (East Coast style - dancing before dinner and in between things) as well as with the DJ on the night of to make sure that we got everything in and on time. I would agree with the previous reviewer that it is a bummer that the bridal room is in the women's bathroom, so groomsmen can't go in there. We were luckily done with her pictures and could attend our cocktail hour but otherwise there was no where for us to "hang-out" before being officially announced. Highly recommended! My guests are still talking about the night and said that this ranks right up there with every NY wedding they have ever been to (this is huge for them!) read more

Golfed here last week. First impression not so good when the guy in the pro shop has a bad attitude. The course isn't well maintained. I lost a sleeve of balls 5-10 yards off the green. There was one shot I remember in particular that landed at about the same yardage (in front of the green) and it took 10 minutes to find - no joke. The grass around the green is longer than most courses rough. I asked a different guy in the pro shop (Ken) if they would offer a voucher for the poor course conditions (I paid $50!) and he looked at me like I was an idiot and said, that's the first I heard that one. He continued to argue with me until others around agreed the course was bad condition and he referred me to the manager. I left a message for the manager as soon as I got off the course and no one called me back. Poor customer service. Will not be coming back ** update** The head golf pro reached out to me to make this right. Changed to 3 stars read more

Bartlett Hills was the most perfect location for our wedding! The setting is gorgeous, no matter what season you decide to marry. Working with Mary was such a treat. She was so gracious and patient throughout the entire planning process. She was quick to answer questions and was genuinely excited and happy for us. Also, the food is amazing! You can really tell that everything is made fresh-my guests are still talking about it. Bartlett staff were incredibly nice and accommodating. Very poor maintenance of this course for the price. We paid $60 to play and it is worth $30. Tee boxes were in poor condition as well as the greens. Ball marks all over the greens and the course really needs to be watered. There is no rough, it is burnt, brown grass and mud. This would be a great track if they maintained the course. for the money there are way too many courses that are much better for the same price such as the highlands of Elgin. I won't be back unless maintenance improves or the price drastically drops, I don't see either happening. read more

This is a golf review - nothing to do with their event planning. This review is from a woman's point of view. I play 2-3 times a week in leagues, at Bartlett Hills and at other courses. This course is in pretty good shape usually and is challenging. Greens are super fast and pin placements can be tough. Unless you hit a high soft ball, the greens don't generally hold. Prices are a little higher than other public courses, but not extraordinarily so. Golf shop personnel: the old men are grumpy and unpleasant. The younger ones are polite, cheerful and helpful, even going out of their way to find discounts on merchandise without being asked. Rangers - grumpy old men who don't seem to particularly like women on "their" course. If play is slow on the course and you're a woman, expect a visit from the ranger. Just one Example: 8th hole, our 4-some was approached by a ranger and told we were playing slow and needed to hurry up. Checking with the starter at the turn, he told us we played the front 9 in 2:02. Perfectly on time and on most courses with a 122 slope, would be considered way ahead of a reasonable pace. The starter acknowledged the ranger "was getting old and was slipping". There are other instances I could recount, including the horrible experience last week with a totally out-of-line ranger, but I'll leave it at this. Good course, rude personnel. And Bartlett Hills employees, when you're rude first, expect rude back. Just sayin.... read more
