Was greeted with smiling faces right when we walked in! We had Elizabeth as our server and she was genuinely nice, and took her time to make sure we had the best experience ever. She ALWAYS checked back in on us to see if we needed anything, to refill waters if needed. She always had a bright smile on her face, and treated all customers with respect. She engaged to have conversations with you, asked how your day was going! The food was, nice and hot when it came out and exactly what we asked for! The food tasted AMAZING. We have 4 kids and most of them are picky but leaving this restaurant they ate things that they loved and said they we would eat again! Elmade sure my kids were happy and got the food they wanted. If you guys are looking for a place to eat when in Fairbault I would head over to 1st of Thai and eat there. The overall of the place was super clean, felt nice and warm walking in there! Nice a spacious, where you don't feel all crammed and close to others. The light in there was perfect, not too dark and not too bright. The temperature was perfect!

Spying 1st of Thai in our search along I-35 we stopped in for dinner. Located in a small strip of stores, the interior is non pretentious, plenty of tables of different sizes. The window drapery has an Asian feel giving a minimal sense of exotic. Asian music softly plays over the speakers giving one a sense of culture. We ordered the Param Longsam #34a, and the Tom Kha #17. The dishes come with rice and were generous proportions. I will say the dishes were pretty good and recommend stopping by for something different.

This place is a godsend in a flavor desert…read more My partner and I have visited China House twice and have been beyond impressed with every dish we've had. On our first visit, I tried the Hunan Triple Delight, which features a trifecta of beef, chicken, and shrimp with delightfully crunchy and flavorful vegetables in a spicy but savory brown sauce. My partner got the General Tso's Chicken which I was kinda jealous of on account of it being the best General Tso's I've ever tasted. The chicken was tender and delicately fried, but with enough crunch to hold up to the sauce which had just the right amount of heat and zest. Today on our visit we had the Szechuan Beef and Pineapple Chicken, both with fried rice. I cannot describe to you how delicious it is. The decor reminds me a lot of old Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants in my California hometown which is oddly comforting. It really is unbelievable how much impressive food exists within such an unassuming-looking restaurant! Bottom line is, China House Cafe presents their dishes without frills, and they don't need it. The flavor speaks volumes for itself! If you're in the area--or even if you're an hour away--this place is absolutely worth a visit. :)

The staff was also welcoming and clear.

My mom placed an online order to be picked up at 6:46. We arrived closer to 7 and my boyfriend stated the name of our order and waited 10 minutes. He told the host our order name again and she acted like she had no idea what he was talking about. They didn't have our order that we had confirmation for and instead of working on our order, we had to wait for 40 minutes for our dinner. We ordered this food to make our lives easier for baking and cleaning tonight for thanksgiving prep and instead it put us behind. They offered an extra order of pho and in the end didn't give it to us because whoever was in the back said no. The food was not the quality it usually is either. The wontons were very chewy, the rice flour cake was a messy and burnt a bit, and the pad Thai leaked in the bag and spilled over everything else. There was nearly a cup of watery sauce in the bag. This was a disappointing experience and I'm not sure I'll be back after this. This is some of the worst customer service I've experienced.

Great place worth trying - would love to try the duck noodle soup next time which we have heard great things about!

When we walked in, a young man greeted us from across the restaurant and asked if we were dining in. I said yes, and he told us to sit anywhere we liked. After we sat down, he brought over the menus and immediately asked if we were ready to order. I smiled and let him know we needed a little time since we had never been there before. We looked through the menu and decided to start with the chicken skewer and the crab rangoon. Both were delicious and full of flavor. For our meals, I ordered the chicken banh mi and my wife ordered the Bun Bo Hue. She loved her dish and I really enjoyed my sandwich. They also serve freshly squeezed lemonade, which was excellent. I actually ended up ordering two because it was that good. Service was pretty lackluster. The kid helping us looked like he might not even be in high school yet, so that might explain some of it. The restaurant itself is small and simple inside. Nothing amazing but nothing bad either. Overall, the visit was good. The service wasn't great, but the food made up for it. We would consider coming back if we happen to be in the area.

That said it's catered for the local tastebuds and not viet tastebuds when it comes to a bowl of pho. I felt bloated afterwards which tells me there is msg. The only thing I didn't care for...which is why I'm giving a rating of 4 stars..is the bean sprouts and veggies weren't fresh. In fact, the bean sprouts were starting to sprout themselves... so if they could get fresh veggies for their pho, that would be a huge improvement.
