I have been to Pho 83 a few times over the years, as early as 2015 - hard to believe it has been 11 years since my 1st visit! The latest visit was this past weekend for a later lunch after ValleyFair. Both of my boys were very excited when I told them we were getting pho for lunch instead of theme park food. I'm sure we will be making more stops here for lunch this summer since our family has season passes to ValleyFair. The service was fast and the staff were friendly & attentive. We were happy to get our food pretty quickly since we were all very hungry when we arrived. The pho broth was delicious! My kids shared the meatballs pho while I had the pho with tripe & tendons. We also got an order of the spring rolls - it was good overall, a little bit on the dry side. We were driving through the cities and I was craving for some hot pho! I decided to give this place a go as they had some decent reviews. The restaurant was a little hole in the wall - outdated decoration, older furniture; but I was still excited to try. Service was nice and our meal came out quickly. We had the Vietnamese iced coffee and it hit the spot! It was delicious. We tried their fresh spring rolls and it was refreshing. Unfortunately, the peanut sauce was a bit bland and not very flavorful. My husband and I both had the pho with meatballs, tendon, tripe, and meat. The pho looked amazing and the broth was aromatic...I was super excited. I've had some of the best pho around the cities and sadly, this place doesn't quite compare. This place has an incredible menu, super versatile and huge it was hard to decide what to eat! The pho was some of the best pho I've ever had in my life. I've been eating at Pho 83 for everyday for the past 4 days. Everyday I try something new and every dish is spot on! Their menu is extensive and has so many diverse dishes from pho, bun bo hue, banh mi, shaking beef to bubble tea drinks. Today I ordered bun thit nuong with egg rolls B4 which is the rice vermicelli with grilled pork and eggrolls. It was filled with meats and veggies! The pickled carrots are fresh and the nuoc mam sauce was perfectly balanced. Their coffee with salted egg foam was delicious! The staff are friendly and fast service! Food came out piping hot ! My roommate and I always order pho to go from this restaurant. The chef must have a turbo charger in their kitchen because the food is ready in 10 minutes every time. The pho here is everything you'd hope for in the renowned Vietnamese soup. It has that "it" factor. The broth is full of delicious spices and more and I have yet to order a bull of pho from here where I do not tilt the bowl to my mouth and drink the remaining broth like it's ice cold water on a scorching hot day. The Seafood Pho is delicious and a bit of a departure from my typical order of their Sliced Beef Pho. The combo of shrimp, squid, imitation crab and shrimp meatballs is delicious and not one of those proteins tastes too fishy. The spicy saté option on this bowl adds chili oil and flakes mixed in to add some heat to the dish. The inside is what you'd expect from a hole in the wall, strip mall restaurant. Don't let that dissuade you from stopping by or getting takeout. The food here is A1 quality. read more

My family and I love this place! Disclaimer: we are your stereotypical Midwest family so I don't know how authentic any of the dishes are, but we enjoy everything we've ever tried from pho 83! We always over order because we like so many different things and so we can have leftovers and the staff is always super sweet and go above and beyond to let us know that they appreciate our business. They are super fast weather we're dining in or taking away. They are located in an unassuming strip mall next to our favorite donut shop and a gas station, but don't let that fool you, inside is cozy and the staff is very welcoming. My favorite dishes are the rare beef pho (although my kiddo goes crazy for the veggie pho with tofu added), curry shrimp, beef lo mein, pot stickers, an basically everything else that they've made that I've put in my mouth. read more

The sesame chicken was chewy and had tons of breading, very little meat. Low quality chicken is noticeable lol. The sauce itself was good, very sticky. The fried rice was below average. The egg roll was okay. The short ribs were a bit tough but the seasoning was good. Was clearly higher quality meat which I appreciated. It cost extra for fish sauce on the side but chili oil was free. The white rice was nice, good with the sweet pickled veggies and the fish sauce. There was a service fee for ordering online and an additional convenience fee for using a card of any kind. If a business is trying to avoid taxes via money payment, I support it but the card surcharges always raise an eyebrow. Would I come here again? Probably not. It completely outranks new dragon though so if you have a craving and can't go beyond Shakopee, here is passable. Spent a little under 30 for both meals in January of 2025. Saturday lunch spectacular. The Pho83 luncheon menu is M-F, so ordered from the main menu, and it was delish! My order: Shrimp Phó. Lovely bride had chicken phad Thai. Ordered some sesame shrimp to go for tomorrow. Flavors were delicious. Hearty portions. Not too spicy - I should have dropped in my peppers as I like my Phó on the wild side. No matter - it was really tasty. Food and service was prompt and welcoming. One critique: the cream cheese puffs were average - don't stand out, but we're also lightly fried, as they should be. I tried it exactly the way it was delivered to my table, and it was a bit bland. However, it was served with a lime wedge and there was a variety of sauces on the table. I squeezed the lime wedge in and added some hoisin and sriracha sauces and in no time the bland flavor became exquisite. I ended up really liking it. I was a little disappointed with the initial bland flavor, but having the ability to add some citrus flavor and other sauces greatly enhanced the flavor and experience. The menu described it as a "big bowl", and that description was accurate. The serving size is immense. You're doing something wrong if you manage to walk away hungry after eating an entire bowl. It was more than I could finish. And unfortunately, I am traveling for work and don't really have a way to carry the leftovers with me and eat them later. read more

My family & I stopped in. It has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I had the meatball PHO, the other family members had the steak pho. They had the fresh spring rolls & I had the Vietnamese egg rolls. Everything was very delicious hot and the kitchen service fantastic, noon on Saturday & we were immediately. You were given a few minutes to review our menu. The food was delivered very fast. It was nice and hot and very very tasty. It was some of the best broth I have ever had. The waitress is very quick to check on us to bring anything we wished. We brought Takeaway containers and even suggested them for us. Mine serving was large enough for 2 meals. I forgot to read, but she was fantastic and it appeared that everyone else was served very well. I would suggest this to anyone who wishes to get a good Vietnamese cuisine. Not the best bowl of pho I've ever had, but it did the job, and I don't think there were any other great options in the area. Veggies that came with the veggie pho had some brown spots, so there's a quality issue. Could've been a little more generous with the broth, too. They do get points for having my order done right on time and I was able to conveniently order online. The biggest turn off was when I was paying for my take out order. They had a sign posted on the front door that there would be a service charge for all credit card purchases. Ok, no problem. Then they had a sign at the register that the service charge was NOT a tip. Ok, got it. I had every intention of tipping, and as I stood there signing my receipt, some dude (who wasn't doing anything helpful, just standing there breathing down the hostess's neck) told me "that's the total BEFORE tip." How about don't do that? Like ok, I get it, you want a tip. I felt awkward and pressured to give more than intended, and just for that I don't want to go back. Review 400! Anyhow, I've given this place a couple of tries because its right across the street from work. Its a decent choice, especially because its in one of the outlying areas of the Twin Cities, but I'm positive you can find better Vietnamese as you get closer to the metro. I've had both the pho and a rice plate from here and both are somewhat pedestrian. They don't have my preferred pho--brisket and/or well done, so I went with the rare pho. Lots of sprouts and basil, but no cilantro. The fish sauce that comes with the Vietnamese egg rolls is thicker than I think should be and lacks in the flavor department. The pho broth is pretty good--there's definitely some aromatics. Last time I visited, the wait staff was too busy flirting with the girls in the booth behind me to serve my table in a timely manner. If I was 18 and horny, I'd probably be doing it too, but I wasn't either at the moment. read more

Well if you're WAY out here by Canterbury Downs in Shakopee I would say this place is the absolute bomb!! Run by a Cantonese Vietnamese family, they are not ashamed of serving authentic dishes from both cultures. I would put this place against any spot in Frogtown or Eat Street, and it's WAY out here! LOL I say that b/c we live in NE Mpls. We came after we went to the Renaissance Festival, and needed a real meal. Pho 83 did not disappoint. I was here once before after a car show at the Downs, and had Pho then. The Pho is just fine. I am not picky about Pho places way out in the suburbs. This time we ordered a traditional Cantonese dish, Beef Pan-fried Noodles, as well as the Vietnamese triple BBQ broken rice plate. Well the rice wasn't broken up, but the BBQ was out of this world! It's on the level with Pho Tau Bay (Mpls) and iPho (St. Paul). The Cantonese noodle dish was spot on. They did put the requisite veggie "Mix," you know, the mini "corn," bamboo shoots, machine-cut carrots...out of a bag probably. The noodles were pan-fried crunchy like it's supposed to be served. The stir-fry on top was absolutely spot on. The beef was correctly seasoned at the right amount of tenderness. The veggie "mix" was easily forgiven being that this rare dish tasted just like home (I'm from HK.) All in all this is really the place to go within many many miles. If you want authentic Asian fare this is really the only stop in Shakopee, Carver, Savage, Prior Lake, and Jordan. read more

Pretty authentic food with a very large menu. There was a good mix of all sorts of Asian dishes but pho is definitely a highlight. There is also a case full of some bao buns and other small dishes in the front. The severs were very nice and quick to help. Yummiest place to get Pho in town hands down. My husband and I tried the wontons and they came to our table freshly made. I also had the chicken low mein. It was a big plate of noodles for less than $10. It was so delicious I didn't realize I was full till my stomach hurt. The pho was also very flavorful. The only problem I have is that the restaurant is a little outdated. Urgently in need of a renovation! ASAP. The waiter also didn't refill our drinks as often as I would have wanted but I'm a gulper ‍ so I can't blame them for finishing my drink so fast. Shaking Beef is awesome, the pho is incredible (I generally get the spicy bowl), and the sesame chicken is really great. I will say this - on a recent visit the sesame chicken had slightly less chicken and more battered bits which left us a bit disappointed. I was in Shakopee killing time before a baseball game. I researched their menu online and saw they had bahn mi sandwiches. They are only open for takeout only due to covid. I ordered a pork bahn mi sandwich. Of course I needed to use the bathroom. They had empty boxes cluttering up an area and a curtain up. Yes the bathrooms were open. My shoes also kept sticking to their floor. Unsure of half ass mopping. The bahn mi was $6.17 with tax and ready in 5 minutes. I won't be making a trip back for pho. Service was quite slow. It shouldn't take 35 minutes for a bowl of pho, over a weekday lunch period. My coworker and I were in the area and had a craving for some Viet. He recommended Pho 83. The place was half full when we walked in. Once we were seated we looked at the menu quickly, and ordered when the server stopped by. We ordered Vietnamese ice coffees, fresh spring rolls, and two bowls of the pho special. The coffee and spring rolls came out at the same time, about 15 minutes after ordering. That's fine, but the spring rolls weren't anything special. The coffee filled up half of my glass, my coworker filled up the other half of his with water. By the time the pho came it had been 35 minutes after ordering, that's not good, and I was not pleased with my pho. It lacked the robust depth of a slowly simmering broth. 2 buddies and I were going to Badger Hill Brewing about a mile from Pho 83, so we decided to get some lunch. I ordered a Banh Mi (Pork) to split with my friends and my other friend got some spring rolls, which I got a hunk of. Very good. The stuffing was light and the wrapping was light. The Banh Mi was fantastic, mostly because the bread was so fresh. The bread is everything on these subs. Lu's on Eat Street is better, but their's are good. I dipped it my pho and it turned into a Vietnamese French Dip. Yummy. I got the chicken pho. Dear Lord was it good! The broth is perfect and a ton of noodles and sweet and savory chicken. I highly recommend. I was so full after the bowl of wonderful, it cut down on my beer at Badger Hill. I had a Tiger beer and Beerlau from Laos, refreshing lagers. $4 a piece, not bad for stuff you have never tried before. The service was very slow, and that is the only reason I don't give it 5 stars.
