Best Chinese in town and online ordering is so easy. The Roast Pork Lo Mein and their chicken on a stick are some of our favorites! read more

High prices for bad quality of food. Dirty even around the food where is served. I couldn't tell you how many items were hard and cold and it took forever for new food to come out. Not very friendly staff. read more

Food tastes great, but I got food poisoning all three times I've ordered from here. Definitely not worth the risk.

The food is fast and made to order. They take phone orders for takeout and it's a nice setting to dine in as well. Rangoons have the most cream cheese I've ever had. Very good! Very nice people read more

I like their steamed options, great veggies and friendly staff. Overall food is just okay. They do not have roast pork, duck, pan fried noodle or egg fu yung. Rice is on the dry side. I think the establishment needs better ventilation as you reek of oil after only being in there to wait for your food. Should update the seating area especially the ceiling tiles and signage on the front door saying to "social distance." read more

No fortune cookies!?!? Rude. The food tasted ok and the quantity was good. It arrived hot. I got broccoli and beef, it was difficult to eat due to the size of the food. The broccoli was in huge chunks and so were the pieces of meat. Not very manageable. So I cut everything into smaller pieces, which also helped so there's more to eat with the rice. It didn't have much sauce. Everything needed salt. Rice was hard. And the beef almost seemed like it was microwaved from frozen. I also got a side of crab Rangoon- pretty tasty although too crispy in spots and no sauce to go with it. read more

The food itself was good, except the fact that a delivery order for two people to a motel did not include anything to use to eat the food? When I called and ask about silverware I was told that they did not include silverware in delivery orders? When I asked if she knew where the order was being sent she said yes, and then told me that including silverware would make too much work for her! When I told her that I would include her words in my review she said that's fine, I don't care! So I just said goodbye. read more

China Star - I took out the quart of wonton soup, I'm sitting in a motel room, am I blind or is there no way for me to eat this except with my hands? - Chinese Near Me - Mankato, Minnesota

This is the second order we have got from them that was not correct. We received only half of our order and by the time I got here the store was closed. This place was one of my favorite restaurant but quality has gone downhill. read more

Their chicken on a stick and dumplings are the best that I have had. They have fast friendly service and I truly appreciate their business.

About as good as Chinese takeout gets. Very competently managed -- orders prepared promptly and as specified. We've been there twice and will go back again. And as a transplanted New Yorker I've been eating Chinese food for over 70 years. read more

I got takeout at 8:30 pm on a Wednesday. I ordered chicken curry and Hot and sour soup. The curry was ok - the sauce was kind of slimy though due to the thickening agent they used and didn't have much curry flavor. The hot and sour soup was terrible- one small bite and tossed the rest. It tasted like cheap vinegar and some of the worst soup I've tasted. And to top it off, I did t get a fortune cookie, which I love! read more

China Star - a bowl of soup on a table - Chinese Near Me - Mankato, Minnesota

I was in the mood for simple chow mein so thought I would try it here. It was so tasteless and made up 95 percent of broccoli, which I hate. 4 pieces of celery, a few onions and a couple mushrooms. Really dry and unedible. We have stopped coming here in the past and this was a reminder why. Chow mein should be easy to get right. It is so hard to waste so much money on bad food. Dang. read more

I ordered pork roast Chow Mein take out. I surprised of their version of Chow Mein. There were no noodles at all. I repeat. No noodles. I was appalled. What chow mein that doesn't have any noodles in it?? Instead of noodles there was only bed of bean sprouts all over with celeries and sauces. The taste was bland. So disappointed. Regretting I ordered large portion of it only ended up throwing it in the trash read more

China Star - Their version of Chow Mein. No noodles! All bean sprouts - Chinese Near Me - Mankato, Minnesota

I never have left a review for anything in my life. I got orange chicken and the chicken is like spongy and dark meat. Makes you feel so sick and I stopped eating it. Never thought someone could serve meat that is dry and has some clear color in it? People where kinda rude and loud. read more

Best sesame chicken i've had in a long time and i frequent this location often. the past few times has been good just gotta ask for my chicken to be extra crispy because i don't like that soggy chicken texture. good job China Star read more

China Star - Sesame chicken is crispy just like i like it but a little too much sauce and not a huge fan of the rice but it's still good eatin - Chinese Near Me - Mankato, Minnesota

I am pretty particular when it comes to my Chinese food. If you're looking for the best tasting Chinese takeout in Mankato, you have found it. I mean it's really not hard to beat Panda Express, but WOW. Might be some of the best Chinese food I've had in my life. The sesame chicken is PHENOMENAL. The chicken is lightly crisp just how it should be. For all you noodle lovers, the lo mein is pretty good here but I think the Singapore Mei Fun is the best noodle dish they have. Highly recommended as well. Check my photos of a small order of the sesame chicken with a large order of the Singapore Mei Fun. read more

Went in for some late lunch take-out. Good service, they cook everything for you right there. Not pre-cooked, delicious food. Good serving sizes for the price, my buddy and I had the hot and spicy beef. My wife had the sesame chicken, it was all good. read more

Stopped in today, ordered the General Two with lo mein lunch portion size... There was a butt load of food, it was excellent AND it came with 2 giant crab Rangoon! Wonderful lunch, thank you! read more

They have fantastic food and you get a LOT for the price! They will always make it fresh if it's getting low. It's always hot and they have a great variety! read more

Best Chinese food in Mankato! Food is always tasty tasty, hot, and fresh. Excellent service as well!

Awesome food at great prices. The cream cheese wontons were the best. My picky kiddo loved the food. The atmosphere could use an upgrade but don't let that stop you. The food is great and the place is very clean. Just outdated. read more

Very good food. Very large portions. Std pricing. Really good fried wontons. Edpecially like their hot n sour soup.

Listed under "Food Delivery". Does NOT deliver. Drove to pick up and was deeply disappointed. Sweet and Sour Chicken has no pineapple/onion/bellpepper, and was very greasy. Lo Mein was all noodles--very little chicken and almost no veggies. Will never go back. Sticking with Hunan Garden! read more

I'm from out of town. Found this place on Yelp. It doesn't look like much but the food was absolutely delicious. It was fresh. Fast. And very, very good read more

Hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant in Mankato. When I was a student, this was my place to go almost once a week. Lunch specials are amazing! If you want your food quick, call before you come to pick it up because they make everything fresh! Not the best place to eat-in, but give it a shot for lunch sometime and you won't be disappointed. Miss it! read more

This place is a takeout spot. The vegetable mei fun noodles were good! I would go back for those. The hunan chicken sauce was good but the chicken was soft & spongy ew. read more

I was blown away that my order was freshly prepared right after I placed my order. Everything just tastes so fresh and good it made me happy I ordered. The price can't be beat and the food is top notch all the way. read more

Mediocre food, but a quick place to grab lunch. Decent potion size and decent prices!

Love the online ordering and awesome menu selection. I order before leaving work and it's ready to take out when I arrive. The food is always wonderful and portions are plentiful. There's enough for lunch the next day. read more

There's a girl working at this restaurant every weekend who seems to be around 13, significantly below the working age. She acts cold and unhappy (and other reviews on google have commented about this too), so it seems likely that she is not there by choice, but by force, probably from a parent or guardian. While I know having your kids help out at your restaurant is not uncommon, this girl seems to be working all weekend, which is incredibly cruel in my opinion. While I don't have any serious problems with the food here, I believe that treating a child this way is in no way justified and I cannot support the practices of this restaurant. And while this is not technically a review of the food here, receiving service from a child is unsettling and made my experience at this restaurant uneasy at best. read more

probably one of the best take out Chinese restaurants in town if you are in the area I would go here before panda express. they give you a lot of food the noodles are good the fried rice is what you would expect every thing is good here the are usually very busy calling ahead is the best option they do have seating if you want to eat it there but would still order it to go read more

This is one step up from Panda. It should be considered strictly a take-out place. You can sit down there, but it has the atmosphere of a tire repair shop. The food is prepared freshly, which is its saving grace. But don't hope for some great meal. The sweet n sour chicken was cubes of chicken in thick breading, deep fried, with red sweet sauce. No sour to be had. The cashew chicken had 4, count 'em, 4 cashews. Flavor of both was reasonable, better than Panda. Again, freshly prepared, which counts. But it was, essentially, industrial Chinese food--won't kill you, but you won't write home about it. read more

The food was good. But for the dine in customers providing actual plates and silverware would enhance the dining experience. After spending over $60 for dinner getting handed cheap paper plates and a small plastic fork was less than desirable. read more

Shame on China Star; False advertising and switch and bait!!! It used to be the best of the Chinese Restaurants in town, but just realized this weekend how they are ripping off their customers! If you order a dish that comes with Pork or Chicken Fried rice, check it again, it doesn't! It's just plain ole fried rice. If you order a pint of Roast Pork Fried Rice for an additional $5+ you can get the real thing......Isn't this illegal? read more

The quality of the food is decent, though I've certainly had better. But the service was fast and the portion sizes are to standards. I might return to check out other entrees but as of now, my opinion is that there are better places in the area which taste better and are cheaper. But, be my guest and try it yourself. read more

Update: ordered tonight over the phone, had a cab service deliver. Received not one, but two wrong orders out of three dinner specials ordered. Here's the deal beyond the fact that their employee said she didn't know what I ordered after taking my phone order, how does that work anyways? She sent out chicken and broccoli when I ordered sesame chicken, the two don't sound anywhere alike... she sent out schezuan chicken and beef when I ordered Hunan chicken and beef. How does that even happen anyways? Beyond the screwy order take a look online at what the food you're ordering should look like and what you're getting here isn't it. Sczechuan chicken is supposed to be breaded in sauce with green onions and a chili garlic sauce. What I received was a pile of mushrooms, cabbage, water chestnuts, pea pods and a few pieces of fatty un breaded chicken in a non descript brown sauce. Seriously, beyond Americanized Chinese food like sweet and sour, egg foo young, sesame chicken, general tso's, etc... this place apparently just throws some vegetables in with meat and calls it something thinking you're enough of a rube that you won't know the difference. Just Google images of what you ordered and compare to what you actually receive. I was in the mood for something different tonight.... what I received is not what I expected. read more

I give it FIVE STARS! I really enjoy their dinner combos, they are cheap and you get plenty of food. The beef broccoli is superb.

I've try every Chinese restaurant in town..by far my favorite... eat here at least once a week.. mostly take out... good always fresh... if you don't like to wait, I suggest calling a head.. good food, isn't always fast food... read more

This is one of the best values for the money in Mankato. For about $6 at lunch, or $8 at dinner, you get a good 2 meals worth of hot, fresh Chinese food, all made right when you order, plus fried rice (veggie at lunch, chicken at dinner) and your choice of egg roll or 2 crab rangoon. I've been here more times than I can count, and each time the food tastes great. read more

The food is extremely good, but the reason I give it a 3 star is because they never call you when your food is ready. You have to assume it's ready and call them. By the time you get there, the food is cold. If you order inside, then the food is really good... I really recommend ordering in person. read more
