When I'm in Vienna this works. While in town it's mostly about convenience. Nothing in this town is budget friendly. The town is well known for its $ and mattress stores. Thank goodness this gas station is competitive, as others in the town require a blood donation. Kidding sort of but it's part of the area. There's nothing fancy or pretentious about this Sunoco. Have had the car inspected here and was pleased with the efficiency. Nice folks on duty and it's a very clean establishment. As for the convenience store factor it's mediocre. Yet when needing to fill up, plenty of room to maneuver in this lot. The station is close to the main drag which helps. If you're in the area this will work for you. read more

Brought my car in for a flat which they fixed with a patch, and also did my safety inspection. Was rubbed the wrong way when I found they had helped themselves to my gum and left two crumbled up wrappers in my cup holder. This is not professional behavior and makes me wonder what other liberties their mechanics would take in someone's car. read more

224 for a diagnosis for AC only to tell me as a $900 plus problem. I research the problem. $50 online for the part. 30 minute YouTube video. Heck my car is not even worth a third of that price. I have referred many friends and family to this location, but not any longer, somethings changed maybe it's the rent maybe it's the cost of the employees? This place used to be a hometown field and they take care of their people. Not any longer judging from what I've observed they're losing business perhaps it's the pricing. Or the quality or something. These are dealership prices. Please do better and do so quickly fix your pricing. It's getting to be a turn off. read more

I have been coming to Vienna Sunoco for the past 7 years since my first car and I have always had a positive experience here. The state inspection and emissions check for Fairfax County is done quickly and they have a nice waiting area inside. I have gotten gas here a few times as well and it is a convenient location, although the prices are not cheap relative to the other gas stations in the area. It still is cheaper than gas in California though. read more

With all the coronavirus activity I totally missed my car inspection. I went to the Shell down the street and had a negative experience just trying to navigate how to get in line so I left. I came here and had the exact opposite experience. The signs were clear, the inspector checked on the few cars in line to ensure they were in the right place, and they gave me a heads up to ensure I had the right paperwork ready. There was a little air conditioned area to wait in that had a TV and comfy chairs. The inspection was done quickly. Fast and efficient with the major plus of polite. I'm coming back here! read more

Quoted about $100 for synthetic oil change and tire rotation on a Toyota. This seemed overpriced by about $20. I looked at the receipt, and it was a bunch of misleading discounts that were meant to fool consumers. For instance, the free oil changes are only for conventional motor oil. Most newer cars after 2014 run synthetic. I felt like I was being scammed. Also, the lobby was conveniently loud while they were explaining the prices. I went ahead and paid. The coupons they give out have lots of fine print. You're not gaining much. read more

Around a month ago did oil change for my camry 2019. 1000 miles after i got oil leaking from my car. First when i called they didn't even wanna check it but once i came they actually checked and said oil filter wasn't placed correctly. They changed it for free no problem. 1000 miles later again same thing and right now. Im very agitated since they make me wait 3 hours for such a simple thing and make me come 3rd time. On top of this employee is rude and speaking with attitude. When i told him this is second time coming for such a simple thing his response was something else. Recently I needed to replace my car's steering rack and pinion assembly, wheel alignment, and spark plug replacements. Dave, the service manager, was excellent. He was friendly, courtesy, knowledgeable, and honest. He explained in detail the needs and provided quite honest advice. His price was not only a few hundred dollars lower than other places, but also completed the work before the promised time. Furthermore, Dave let me know that their service workmanship is warranted for 24 months or 24,000 miles. My car stalled and wouldn't steer when backing out of my driveway . I stopped the car and had it restarted and it drove. The tension when pressing gas and break were off so I ended up here to get my car evaluated. A mechanic looked under my hood, and drove it around the block. He said things seemed okay, and if it happened again to bring it back and leave it over night. He took me right away and didn't charge . Having missed a doctors appointment due to these car issues I was having a really bad day. The customer service here being swift and polite was a relief and really made my day better. Manager gave attitude because I told him that when they reached for wheel brake lock in center console via passenger side, must have a dirty hand cause it left a mark on the seat. Staff was very friendly when I dropped my car off. I went in for the "$59.99 synthetic oil change" deal they advertised. I clarified over the phone, and again in-person, that my make/model was covered by this price, as it's a European car which often costs more to service. When I arrive to retrieve my car, I'm presented with a bill for a tad over $110. The extra quart of oil and tax should've brought the total to somewhere around $70. I was definitely not happy about the extra $40+ I was being charged. When I tried to clarify the price, the shopkeeper (while being quite polite) stated that there was no manager there, and the only options I had were to pay, or come back the next day (aka, leave my car and not be able to get to work the next morning). I went ahead and paid, figuring I had little other choice. Later that night, I was able to reach a manager at the store, who heard me out, and offered to refund some of my money, as there had been a mixup. While not the full difference, I agreed, since it seemed like a fair solution. When I show up a few minutes later, that same manager states that he can't actually refund the amount he had stated over the phone, and instead offers a different, smaller amount. At this point, I explained how unhappy I was, and that it wouldn't even be worth it. I left, and I definitely won't be going back. read more

The gas is fine and the gas prices are fine. Whats not fine is the mechanics at this location. Came in to get a tire repair since there was a screw/nail in my tire. It took them 1-2 minutes to get done and charged $20.00. I was happy to hear I didn't have to buy a tire, or both since its recommended to buy both fronts if needed to replace one. This was in the morning 8am. By 10am I found my tire completely flat I put the spare on and took the flat one to the shop I normally go to. He repaired my tire and only charged me 10 bucks!! He also told me that with the quick fix those guys did at Sunoco they might as well have put another screw in the tire. It has been two weeks using the repaired tire and haven't had a problem. They guys at Sunoco half assed it and there was 5-6 mechanics standing around with no other cars to repair. Hopefully the owner of this location can talk to his workers read more

It's rare for a place that you can bring your car to for services that you can trust and not getting rip off. This is the one place that I always go to since it's near me and the people who work here are extremely nice and friendly. You do need to set up an appointment for oil change, but not for state inspection( they open 7 - 7 on weekdays) read more

I've been taking my cars here for a while, and I always appreciate the good service and work. Some reviewers seem to not understand how to deal with auto repair shops. One thing you should know is that VS like other auto repair shops will tell you about all the issues they find. That does not mean that you have to do them all! Talk to them, and they'll discuss the severity, timing, implications, etc. Also, best to make an appointment. Lastly, everyone should have a couple of quality auto repair shops in their basket. Then you can get a second opinion, etc. read more

I have been going here for a few years and I am generally happy with my customer service and friendliness of the staff. I was disappointed today when my bill over doubled from the original quote they gave me prior. They stated prices increased because my car had certain upgrades. They seemed so organized and efficient, not to mention certified etc. Made an appointment the afternoon before coming in. Arrived 20 minutes early and found one the mechanics having a 'meeting' w/ someone who apparently didn't work there, I grew up in the city, and it seemed to be 'business oriented'. Regardless, he definitely wasn't on the clock at 0840. Went ahead and left my car. Explained to the shift manager how to get around a VERY SIMPLE anti-theft ignition kill (which I have yet to meet a mechanic who doesn't already know how to do) and left w/ the understanding they'd call when it was ready, estimated to be 0940. No call, so I showed up at 0940. Everyone seemed slightly confused when I asked if my car was ready. The shift manger went into the garage and the mechanic looked at me and said "this is his key" and handed it to the manager. Manager: "Is it done?" -- Mechanic: "I didn't know what to do w/ it" -- manger finds paperwork shows him, mechanic says "couldn't start the car" ... "I tried calling him, whatever"...sips his drink and walks away. Manager tells me the car wouldn't start and they tried calling me. No one called me. Manager just shrugs his shoulders like 'whatever'. I left and headed directly to my previous mechanic. They wasted my time, they couldn't have cared less. Should have checked Yelp prior to wasting me time. New gas pumps are fast. read more

Waited over an hr for an inspection. Only one person infront of me when I pulled up. Took 30 minutes for one then he decided he needed a break... They had just opened. I left and will not return, have never had an inspection take more then 25-30 minutes even with others infront of me. read more

I give them ZERO STARS!!!!!!!!! Do NOT go here for EMISSIONS and/or INSPECTIONS!!! DO NOT!!!!!!!!! I have a Dodge SRT4.. they didn't even know my Catalytic Converter was, they just looked under the car and saw it wasn't there so initially they failed me. I went back to let them know the converter was located behind the turbo which is towards the front of the car and would need to be on the lift to see it. First guy argued telling me I didn't have one and that he didn't see it. Demanded to speak to the manager and he took another look, this time on the lift. He finally saw that it was there but didn't recognize the type or kind or make.. not sure.. but he said he couldn't pass me because it was after-market. GUYS HERE, INCLUDING MANAGER, ARE CLUELESS! This Converter has been on my car since 2010. Last 2 inspections were done by James Madison Shell in Vienna and has passed, obviously, but this Sunoco was closer to my work.. ugh.. should've known!!!!!!!!!!!! James Madison Shell.. here I come! I went there to get my car an inspection, service was great, place was clean, people were very nice and friendly . I went to a different place before and people were rude so I left. I went to a second place and there was only one person who did the inspection and the person wasn't there. Then I went to this one Sunoco that is close to me and it was the best. I had to fix something in my car so I wanted to research the price first and they actually had a good price. I called , took my car and in a couple hours my car was ready. I bring all of my family's vehicles here. They treat me and my children like family. Dave, the Service Manager is very helpful. I came for a State Inspection and synthetic oil change without an appointment, and Dave fit me in and they finished both within 15 -20 minutes. I was amazed at the speed. Dave also came out to my vehicle to answer my question about wiper blade replacements. On another occasion, one of the mechanics came out to my car to help me check the tire pressure for my upcoming trip. They are always helpful. read more

I'm a longtime customer of Vienna Sunoco. I'm giving it 2 stars because I had a bad experience there today - but I've had dozens of service appointments here and received great service over the years. I set up an appointment yesterday and the woman I spoke with said I could arrive between 8am and 8:30am. When I arrived at 8:15ish today, I was told that I was late and they needed to reschedule my appointment to 1pm because I missed my appt. Maybe I was unclear on their appt policy but this has never been an issue in the past. And I wasn't treated as a longtime customer today - the customer service was completely lacking. Disappointing and I'm now at an express oil service place instead. I need to find a new repair shop going forward. Too bad... I've really liked this place during my decade+ in Vienna. read more

Normally the guy doing my VA Safety Inspection gets me in and out in super speed time!!! Highly recommend him for Safety Inspections! However, I raced from Rockville MD last Friday (during rush hour) to get there before the Safety Inspection station closed at 7pm! Arrived 6:50pm and the garage doors were all down! Don't post a sign with times if you aren't going to follow them! Was highly perturbed!!! Other than that one incident, they've been awesome! read more

I brought my car in yesterday for an emissions test, state inspection, and oil change. My experience was terrible. The service manager, David, advised me that my battery light was on when he pulled it in and advised that I needed a new alternator. I advised him that I just purchased a brand new alternator and battery less than a year ago and that my battery light was not on when I brought it in. He insisted that it was and was very argumentative and rude. He said that the battery was not getting any power and that I needed to take it to the dealership right away. I asked how long I had before the battery died and he told me to call a tow truck if it died. He was extremely combative and unprofessional. I took it to the dealership that afternoon and sat there for 4 hours while they tried to figure out what was wrong. It couldn't be fixed that night so I had to pay for a ride home and for a ride to work in the morning. The dealership called me and stated that there was oil that leaked all over the alternator and they asked if I had work done to the car. I told them I had and they said even a rookie mechanic would have known to check for a leak in the valve cover before putting oil into the engine. The oil was all over the alternator and caused it to go out. They said the car should have been inspected prior to being worked on and they had no business doing the work that they had done. So now I am out $600 that doesn't not include the time I took off work to deal with this plus that transportation costs that I came out of pocket for. I have been a Vienna resident for 30+ years and I have always known this shop to be reputable. I don't know if there's been a change in ownership, management, or both but it is very disappointing that this is the service that is now being delivered. The piece that upsets me the most is the service manager didn't own up to his mistake and fix the issue. I have told co-workers, family members, and friends to steer clear of this shop. I have also spoken to an attorney friend who is going to help me recoup as much as I can from this experience. I reached out to the shop today with no response from David, the service manager. I have obtained the contact information for Charles Chahel and will be reaching out to him in writing along with the Virginia Department of Environment Quality (due to the emissions that passed that should not have been) and the Virginia State Police (due to the safety inspection that was passed with a safety indicator light on). Even if I gain nothing from this experience, at least I can prevent my fellow community members from being ripped off by this dishonest shop and keep this from happening to someone else. read more

ZERO STARS. Do not ever ever ever take your car there for inspection, they will rip you off. When I first moved back to the area I got my emissions done there, they failed me. $1200 later I got my car back "repaired" and now my engine is permanently LOUD. I don't know what they did, but something was not right. Because there was never any line I decided to get my safety inspection done there a few months later. Huge mistake. Oh and of course I failed this inspection again. Told me my breaks needed repairing and quoted me over $800. I decided to get a second opinion at Sunset Hills Automotive (amazing repair shop) and they told me I still had 60% of my breaks and told me whoever failed me was trying to scam me. They messed up my engine, tried to scam me out of money, and when I went back to politely inquire about this the mechanic yelled at me. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I had taken my car to this place for 3 years, but last past year the mechanic clearly lied to me twice that my car needed repairs. The first time that happened, when I took my car for oil change. They called me and said that my car would need new water tube because it's leaking water. I didn't recognize the problem, so I said not to fix it. Since then, my car hasn't had any leaking. The second time was when I asked for "free" battery check with oil change. I wan't having any issue with the battery, but wanted to find out how much longer it would last. They called and said that they needed to jump start my car, so I needed to get a new battery. I refused the service and picked up my car. I haven't had any problem with the battery more than 6 months. Once I gave benefits of doubt, but not the second time. It is very disappointing that they are trying to take advantage of female customers. Now I'm taking my car to a different shop. read more

Not sure why so many people have complained. I have been a patron of this Sunoco for at least 15 yrs. When I was looking for a mechanic I could trust I was swindled out of a $1000 by another company, no longer in business, in Vienna. I went to the Sunoco on Tyson's side and asked about a repair to be done and was taken aback when I was told to go to the Vienna Sunoco, "They have really great guys working there and would do a better job". I decided to leave and go over there, and have never gone anywhere else. Why would I? Sam was the manager at the time and I really liked and trusted him. We had a pretty old car at the time and I asked him about repairs on it and if it was worth it. He said he would let me know when it wasn't, so we took it a repair at a time. Fast forward to a new manager.....wasn't too pleased with him and was sad Sam wasn't there, BUT then David arrived. I felt like Sam had come back. I could count on him to help when things weren't running properly, telling me when things were critical for repair and others that I could wait on. One time I walked in to ask about a tire, David and few mechanics were talking, and they suggested calling the manufacturer (didn't try to sell me a tire) to see if they would replace it because it was less than a year old. Low and behold they replaced it for free. Going to the dealership for an oil change, name my price coupon led me there, regretting it. I left with a laundry list of repairs that were needed. I ran over to David and he said, If you have a few minutes we'll take a look and see if it's true. Well, only half the list was true and one URGENT repair was a BIG FAT LIE. He ranked the repairs based on critical need and how long I could wait before getting the repair done, not telling me they were needed all at once. (I think I waited five months before the first one came up and was a have to.) Also, he walked me out to my car and showed me the floor of the engine area......oil was everywhere! The dealership made a mess of everything. I got what I paid for...... I go to Vienna Sunoco because they haven't given me a reason to leave, plus I feel like family there. I have taken all our vehicles there for oil, repairs, and inspections. With the above said periodically I have compared prices with other places, by making phone calls and I have always found Vienna Sunoco's quotes to be the same or better. Thanks guys! read more

Very friendly staff. Well kept station. Prices seem fair as I waited for my oil change and over heard conversations regarding another customer car repair and other conversations between the manager and customers. Very courteous to their customers or to folks that just come in for help on their car unexpectantly. I was in for an oil change which was done quickly, but I only gave them three stars cause it was way too much oil in the engine beyond the "Full" indicator on the oil dipstick. Had to siphon it off. I would still give them another chance just to see if this was a just a fluke mishap. read more
