After a recent visit to my dealer's service center and being told, based on the horrible noise it was making, that I needed to replace the whole engine, I went to the Vienna Sunoco for a helpful second opinion (just change the oil relatively frequently, and it should be fine for a long time -- and lo and behold, with an oil change, the sound went away).

Thank goodness this gas station is competitive, as others in the town require a blood donation. Kidding sort of but it's part of the area. There's nothing fancy or pretentious about this Sunoco. Have had the car inspected here and was pleased with the efficiency. Nice folks on duty and it's a very clean establishment. As for the convenience store factor it's mediocre. Yet when needing to fill up, plenty of room to maneuver in this lot. The station is close to the main drag which helps. If you're in the area this will work for you.

Gas prices are consistent with the area, and this station also serves as a U-Haul location. My van hadn't been inspected after the last customer used it. Debris (candy wrappers, receipts) and abandoned objects (shoeboxes, a padlock, a roleplaying costume) littered both the front and back of the rental. Even their furniture blankets-- that I didn't need-- had been tossed in one corner. I had no problems leaving my car parked in the small front lot, I just had to let the attendant know which one was mine so that the other shifts wouldn't call for it to be towed. The only annoyance is that if you do an after-hours vehicle drop off, their pumps are shut off overnight so plan on refilling the tank elsewhere. When I returned the vehicle the attendant was busy watching the game on his portable, but assured me that he would inspect the van and send me an updated invoice the next day.

Due to a Honda recall, I dropped my car off across the street at the Honda dealership. I received a call saying my timing belt was rotted, I had multiple oils leaks, water pump problems, and more! All totaling about $2,900. I promptly called Schmitz's on the recommendation of a coworker and explained the situation. Al assured me that I could bring it by when Honda was done and he would review the quote and give me an honest answer on what my car actually needed. Later that afternoon, I dropped my car off and went over the list with Al. He went out with me to take a look under the hood, kindly showing me that my car doesn't even have a timing belt! The serpentine belt and timing chain were clearly fine. I went back to work and got a call about an hour later with a recommendation on two things to fix now and a couple to keep an eye out on over the next two years. It was fixed by the end of the day. He could have taken Honda's quote and said yep that is all true and charged me just a little less. But instead Al took the time to show and explain, thoroughly "diagnose" my car, and handle it all in a couple of hours. By the way, it cost me less than $500. I will 100% be back when my car needs it.

Not only was I treated in a rudely manner but was also shamed in front of other customers over taking a few packets of hot sauce. I genuinely didn't understand that I was doing anything wrong, and I apologized, but instead of calmly explaining the policy, he yelled at me and shamed me. Another customer even joined in, and even after I explained my misunderstanding, they continued mocking me behind my back as I left. Mistakes or misunderstandings should be handled respectfully, not through public humiliation. I won't be returning to this location.
