I was able to easily set up an appointment online within a time frame that would work for me. They called prior to the technician coming out. The technician was professional and friendly and I feel like the quote they gave me was reasonable compared to other companies. They do charge a $49 service fee normally but that's relatively lower compared to other companies. The technician waived the service fee which was extremely nice and not expected. I did end up going with the company I normally use but only because they quoted me a lower price for the same thing but I would consider using Mission in the future if needed.

Be very cautious with Mission Plumbing, Heating and Cooling…read more My neighbor recently had Mission out for a service call; the problem was with the control board in the air handling unit. The tech had to leave to get a board, but was back within a half-hour and spent a little over two hours total, including the time to get a new board. The board was under warranty, so there was no cost for the board. He was charged $1,063.48, but given a 10% "over 65" discount, so total charge was $957.13, which works out to somewhere between, $320 and $479 an hour. The technician also said that he was lucky that the board was under warranty, otherwise it would have cost and additional $1,000 for the board (this was also verified by the service manager at Mission). We got the model number of the board, searched for it on the Internet, and found it on the manufacturer's website (Goodman) for less than $100. We contacted Mission to discuss with the general manager twice; he never returned our calls. We then visited Mission in person to visit with him, but he "was in a meeting", so we were directed to Gabe, who confirmed the charges above. When asked about the pricing for the board, we were told that it is not generated locally, but by Southern. Mission was purchased in April 2021 by Southern Home Services of Maitland, Florida, which owns 26 PHVAC companies primarily along the southeast coast of the United States. Southern is, in turn, owned by Gryphon Investors, a private equity company. So not only does Mission need to cover their overhead locally, they most likely need to also provide funding for Southern, who in turn possibly has to return cash to Gryphon. It all flows uphill. Southern also owns C. M. Mose, another local PHVAC contractor in the Kansas City area. Moral of the story: Mission may have been a good company at one time when it was locally owned, but it has changed. Get pricing up front. Question the technician. If you don't like what you're hearing, go somewhere else, and don't hesitate to go with a mom and pop; quite possibly they can do the job just as well for quite a bit less money. They don't have the overhead that the big guys do (especially if owned by private equity).

I was convinced it was broken and called Bright Side once I had the flooding under control in the basement. I can't understate how impressed I was with them from the phone call to the plumber showing up later that afternoon. First of all the person on the phone was so kind, told me I was still under warranty, and assured me that they'd have someone out that day to take a look and fix it. The plumber arrived on time, listed to my whole sad story about the basement and the pump, and figured out the issue within a few minutes. He fixed the pump, assured me it should last a long time with the fix, took a look at our other pump, talked me through what had happened, sent me some estimates on things we could do to improve our set up, and was out the door within a reasonable amount of time. The things I loved was how low pressure it all was and how friendly he was. Other plumbers would have upsold me and likely made me feel pressure to purchase something else. I really appreciated that they came out day of, stood by their warranty with no questions, fixed it, and was honest about the situation, giving us options but no hard sell. This is the kind of service that will keep us as customers. It's always hard to know if a company is good after one visit, but this being our second, and on a call when something bad had happened I would not hesitate to recommend them to others. This appears to be a very good locally run business, and they'll have us as customers for the foreseeable future.

After months of dealing with a mysterious gurgling toilet and occasional unpleasant smells from our…read moreupstairs bathroom, we finally decided to call in Brightside Plumbing -- and I'm so glad we did. From the start, they approached the problem methodically. Dalton and Jeff ran a full smoke test, cleverly blocking all vents except one to locate the issue. Sure enough, they found the leak right where another "professional" plumber had previously worked: under our master bathroom toilet. That plumber had used an auger months earlier and failed to notice the wax ring seal was damaged -- something Brightside diagnosed quickly and resolved properly. Dalton was fantastic throughout. Friendly, professional, and very clear in his explanations, he made us feel completely confident in the work being done. He and Jeff went above and beyond, replacing the damaged bolts from the earlier install and properly capping the toilet to ensure everything was sealed and secure. Brightside wasn't just competent -- they were also fair. While weather caused a slight delay in the actual repair, they proactively offered a discount and applied a portion of the initial diagnostic fee toward the final fix. That level of transparency and goodwill is rare and greatly appreciated. Now? The toilet is quiet, clean-smelling, and working exactly as it should. We feel like we finally have a go-to plumber we can trust. Brightside will absolutely be our first call for any plumbing needs from here on out.
