    Chicken Enchilada Dinner
    Alejandra R.

Vida Mia may not be new, but the new management is definitely bringing fresh energy. I'll admit, the menu felt a bit overwhelming at first--there's a lot to choose from, maybe too much--but the warm, friendly service made up for it right away. I had two kids with me, and the staff went out of their way to find crayons and coloring pages to keep them busy. That level of thoughtfulness goes a long way. The food itself is truly authentic Mexican. The salsa served with the chips is a homemade cilantro-based salsa--not the generic pico de gallo some people expect. If you actually know Mexican food, you'll appreciate how fresh and delicious it is. I ordered the enchilada dinner with both red and green chicken enchiladas, and both were absolutely flavorful. The refried beans topped with cheese and the rice tasted homemade and comforting. Everything on the plate felt thoughtfully prepared. Despite the large menu, the quality of the food and the kindness of the staff make this a spot worth returning to. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes.

    Carne Asada Tacos

My wife and I stopped by for lunch. We had bean dip as an appetizer. My wife had the two crispy carne asada tacos and I had the three shredded beef enchiladas. Everything we ate was outstanding. As shown on the attached photos the presentation of the dishes was excellent. The quality of the beef was very tender and flavorful. On the enchiladas the red sauce was the best that I have ever had, and I have eaten at lots of Mexican restaurants. I had a marguerita and there was at least two shots of tequila in it. As for the price, the bill came to just under $55, which was very reasonable. The service was quick and very friendly and the waitress checked on us at least three times to see if we needed anything. My concern is that the location of the restaurant is why other Mexican restaurants at this locations have failed in the past. There is good parking, however It's just that there is no signage advertising the restaurant as you are driving north or south on North Main Street. I sure hope the restaurant succeeds. The food is much better than any of the other full-service Mexican restaurants in Manteca, especially much better than the high-price/low-quality place at the corner of West Yosemite and Winters.

Chili Relleno with carne asada and cheese filling, Poblano pepper

Good service from the waitress. Salsa was a little too hot and watery in consistency. Ran off the chips. Was impressed that they had several choices in chili rellenos. First time I found these choices in Manteca, including carne asada, carnitas, chicken, and the standard cheese. They used poblanos, rather than California chilis. The poblano was large. Special ordered one with carne asada and cheese which made a good combination. They grilled the meat so it was too crispy, but flavor was good. Used enchilada sauce instead of a chunky chili relleno sauce. Prefer a chunky sauce with onions, tomato, diced peppers, and thicker sauce. Beans and rice were good. Would go back for the chili rellenos. Wish more restaurants offered chili rellenos with different fillings. This chili relleno had no stem or seed cluster so the entire item was able to be eaten. The enchilada sauce had a good flavor, thick, and worked well with chicken enchiladas and the beans. Chips were fresh and good. Needs more choices for salsa. Prices on the high side.

Manteca, you are sleeping on Vida Mia and you dont even know it. The portions are good. Everything has great flavor. The Verde sauce is one of the best I've had at a restaurant.

This place was really tasty! The service was great! The guy was really tentative. The chef was on top of his game and the owner was very sweet. I would give this five stars -if it wasn't for the place looking more like a "diner" instead of a Mexican restaurant.

The food was AMAZING. We had the shredded chicken enchiladas with Chipotle sauce and a fish taco. The rice had a lot of flavor and the beans as well. We will definitely be coming back.

This place was great. New ownership, and I think they changed the menu a little bit. I miss the refried beans with the salsa that they used to have there, and free refills would be nice. My kids got horchata and they charged us for all the refills. A few items on the menu are a little overpriced, but overall it was quiet, relaxing, food was great, and we enjoyed it!

    Orange salsa

The inside is nice, bright and clean. The server couldn't answer our questions about the salsas or tacos with any certainty. I asked if the taco shells were deep fried and she said you mean taquitos? She didn't understand and I didn't know how else to ask that question. They were homemade, deep fried shells:-) The shredded beef was ok, lacking flavor as were the tacos and burrito. The salsa was like nothing I've had before, it was orange colored and didn't taste like any salsa I've ever had. They don't have a regular red salsa or pico de gallo. The chips were good and overall the food was ok. When we got the bill we were charged $2.99 for the guacamole with the burrito, the menu said add sour cream or guacamole $1.50. If it had said $2.99 I would not have ordered it. The server said the menu is all wrong when I brought it to her attention, but she did refund the money. When we walked out my brother thanked her and she replied with, "sure". I'm pretty sure we won't be returning.

The food was excellent, very flavorful and the portions were very good. Good salsa and homemade tortillas. This will be our go to Mexican restaurant.

This restaurant just opened -- it's clean, with soft music where you can actually hear each other. A very relaxing place to enjoy dinner with your family. I had the tacos -- the veggies were fresh and crisp! My husband had the wet burrito, and he loved it!

It is common practice that all Mexican Latino restaurants, taquerias, That serve Mexican food will Not charge for 2 slices of lemon or lime Cmon el Jardin you lost a good customer Over charging for lime slices...unbelievable It's the point of them just being greedy . Also on all Honesty el jardin manteca is priced way over the top for average Mexican food. !

Place has a salsa bar and some limited seating. I ordered the carne asada super quesadilla as well as two chicharonnes tacos and a horchata. Was given a tray for chips and two cups for the salsa bar. Salsa bar was pretty good they had a lot of options as well as grilled/pickled veggies. Food came out and the quesadillas were sliced in a narrow way which i liked cuz i can dip in the salsa. I was initially hesitant about the chicharrones since they cost $5.00 each and looked a little old. I asked if they were fresh, and they assured me they were. The nice lady convinced me to get a half pound for $10.00, which is usually about three pieces. Surprisingly, when I got home and opened the box, I found a few extra pieces--thank you! Unfortunately, the pieces were really tough, and even with a sharp knife, they were hard to cut. The flavor overall was good; I just wish I could've eaten them when they were soft and tender. The other highlight was the fresh homemade corn tortillas that came with the whole chicken I purchased. The chicken cost $23.00, which is expensive, but it was definitely worth it. The smoky flavor was delicious, and the tortillas were great. The last thing I'll mention is that their salsa bar had a nice variety of choices. The pork belly chicharrones aren't a deal breaker for me. I'll give this place another try, and try some of their other options. I encourage anyone interested to do the same.

But the recent changes to the Monday/Wednesday happy hour tacos caught me off guard. The deal now requires everyone at the table to buy alcohol, not just one person -- and the tacos themselves have gotten smaller, too. I don't really have a problem with the alcohol policy itself; that's pretty standard for happy hour. What got me was the service. I sat at the bar for nearly 20 minutes and the bartender ignored me the whole time -- no greeting, no heads-up about the new policy, nothing. Had someone just told me, I would've sat in the dining room from the start. No signage, no note on the menu, no acknowledgment at the bar. All around, a disappointing experience.
