Reservations are required this is a nice establishment located in downtown Austin. The staff were friendly, Courtney was our waitress. She was very patient (my daughter couldn't decide what she wanted to order) I had the fish & grits she ordered French Toast, eggs and beef bacon, can't forget the Mimosas (peach & strawberry) yep they were both mine, to wash it down. If you haven't been here you should definitely give them a try.

We got so lucky we were able to reserve a table 15 minutes before a time slot, which was very nice. Staff was very nice and quick to get and bring out our order. The place is nicely decorated and dim, very intimate, unless you're sitting right next to people which is fine but maybe not for a date. Everything was going so well. Had the wings and fries, really like their wings, nice crispy texture and good sauce. The lamb chops were good and paired well with the sides. The mash potatoes did taste like they had maybe a bit too much garlic? The thing that brought this visit down was the peach cobbler that we ordered, it came out and it was raw. I mean we put our spoons in and the dough was stretchy, like you could tell right away, wasn't even hot.

All flavors of the mimosa. Fav was watermelon and strawberry.

Service was a little slow, the fried fish and wings were great and the ambiance was okay. 2 mimosas for $10 was a great deal.

I visited Victory East in downtown Austin back in October to celebrate my birthday. Overall, the experience was solid, with some standout dishes and a few misses that brought the rating to three stars. The food was mostly good, with a couple of highlights. The oxtail mac & cheese was excellent -- rich, flavorful, and absolutely the star of the table. We also tried the wings, which were enjoyable, and a deviled egg topped with shrimp that was perfectly seasoned -- honestly, I could eat that shrimp all day. My friend ordered a few different items as well and enjoyed what he tried. There were a few things that fell short. I ordered a blackberry cocktail (can't recall the exact name), and the smoky note from the alcohol used threw off the balance for me. I also ordered a side of brussels sprouts, which was disappointingly small and much harder than expected -- I couldn't even tell if they'd been properly pan-seared. Service was friendly throughout, though we did experience a longer-than-anticipated wait toward the end of the meal, which slightly impacted the overall flow of the night. All in all, Victory East has some really strong dishes and potential, but a few inconsistencies kept it from being a higher rating. I'd still consider returning, especially for the oxtail mac & cheese and shrimp dish.

Sometimes you can go to a place several times and then you rethink your vision of the place. This happened on Friday night. My leadership cohort was meeting at Victory East (formerly Victory Grill) for happy hour. Within the same location is a Speak Easy (Busy Signal) at the back of the building. As I was taking pictures of the mural inside, the hostess told me that everyone in that mural had played or sang at Victory East. These artists where a part of the Chitlin' Circuit, such as legendary artists like Billie Holiday, James Brown, Ike & Tina Turner, B.B. King, and Etta James. Wow! I knew Victory East had historical significance; however, I did not know the ties ran so deep and wide. According to the hostess Victory East was originally created as a safe space for African American soldiers returning from World War II where they could freely drink, dance and eat in then segregated South. After my talk with the hostess, I had a new appreciation for Victory East. Our cohort had drinks (lemon drop, margaritas, mojitos) and food (fried chicken wings, fried catfish, mac n cheese, salad and jerk chicken sliders). One the highlights of visiting Victory East is its beverages. For cocktails, their mixologists combine the perfect amount of alcohol and other ingredients. The Lemon Drop martini was superbly made. The food was all 5+/5...perfectly seasoned and cooked flawlessly. Service was at the next level. We had two servers frequently asking if we needed anything and removing dishes from our table. They both were very attentive. Victory East is a vibe. You are instantly transported to a different place and time. The restaurant / bar is dimly lit with dark walls giving a romantic ambiance. There was a DJ spinning mellow, sultry tunes...such a warm and inviting environment. Victory East would be great for group gathers, date night or friends catching up.

Tried this spot on a whim, and it did not disappoint, tried the deviled eggs for starters, didn't try a drink at this location , service was fast and our waiter was very helpful, for my meal I tried the lamb chops, Mac n cheese and collard greens, everything was flavorful and good, the sauce was amazing, overall everything was good but just a tad overpriced, but I would most definitely return to try something else. The ambience was amazing as well, cute spot for a day night or girls night out, the night I went there was a live saxophone player

Pasta was wrong, however the manager did take care of it without us even asking. Sat at the bar and the bartender was new but she still was great! Redfish was great! The music is always a great vibe and the aesthetics is always nice. Although it took a while to get our food, the staff (bartender especially) made it unnoticeable but interaction and conversations. Will return as always.

    Leftover drinks left sitting around

First of all, we walked into the restaurant and were initially ignored, with no server in sight. After placing a reservation well in advance and receiving a confirmation message, we were told we would be waiting an hour before we could be seated. We were then taken to the restaurants speakeasy, which was noticeably dirty, and told to wait. While I didn't get to actually try the food, I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

    Valentine's Day selected menu

Despite today being Valentine's Day, Victory East was very accommodating and the service was great! Our server, Mo was very attentive to all of our needs and maintained a positive disposition throughout our dinner service! The food was delicious & the ambiance was superb! All the love was felt in the air

Okay, I feel very conflicted giving this review because I really want to love this place. So I'm going to be very thorough because there are aspects that I like about this place but then things that I don't like. Firstly, I'll talk about the vibe. Cute spacious area with a restaurant that leads to a lounge and outdoor space. So many events are kept here and there's always something going on. The thing that stands out for me is the quality of the food and drinks versus the price. The food and drinks are pretty mediocre and overly priced. If you are going to NY prices in Austin, you have to have well crafted drinks and amazing food. I will say the one drink that I liked was the peach pecan old fashion. I would come back again just for the vibes.

Great food, drinks, and service. We shared the lamb chops with Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts. The lamb had great flavor, but just a tad overcooked. I wish it was taken off the grill 2 minutes before. But it was still great. The Mac and cheese was fine, it was just regular Mac. And the Brussel sprouts were amazing. They have a little sweetness and saltiness from the bacon. My husband said the first time he went his experience was better, but I thought this was great, and I would love to come back. The drinks we got were the peach pecan old fashioned and the rum punch. They were both amazing. Great mix and high quality. Our food came out before the drinks which was weird, but everything was great and we would be back. After we finished eating we went into the back to the lounge and we really enjoyed our night there too. I'm surprised there wasn't more people.

One of the best restaurants I visited while in Austin. It was delicious from the food to the drinks and the staff were very knowledgeable of the menu. They had great recommendations. 10/10 no complaints

Honestly, my rating is a 2.5 1. I must give a shout out to the hostess who answered my call. I wanted to get a feel about seating and parking. She gave me detailed instructions. Also when we came in, even though she already had a table ready, she accommodated my (extra) request to be seated at a booth. 2. There is not a lot of park but there is free street parking behind the building and a parking garage next to the establishment. 3. I love the ambiance and the vibes!they had the game on and good music playing! 4. Our second waitress, Jasmine, really saved the day. She was as attentive as she could be and she corrected the errors made by the first waiter Foood: 1. The chicken and waffles was pretty good, i just wish it was bone in(personal preference). The sauce that came with it, was a great addition. 2. We also got the kitchen sink and that was fine 3. I think we were disappointed with a lot of things being out but I concede that it was a late brunch. 4. Also yalll, they have bottomless mimosas for $30 (2hr max) (first waiter said a carafe with multiple juices was $50) and for a premade carafe with OJ is $20. Listen they said bottomless and i said say less! My complaint: 1. I always want to support a black owned business but i have to call out the issues like i do everywhere else. 2. Our original server was not the best. He gave us a lot of misinformation about ordering a carafe, forgot to put in orders. But to some defense, it did seem like it was just him and one other servicing everyone.

I felt the vibe instantly, like as soon as I put one foot in the door. Magical, sophisticated, worldly, wonderful and more were the feelings that spontaneously hit me. The dark and elegant decor, lighting, design, & layout made me feel as though I were in a high-end Tokyo cocktail lounge. The front room as I mentioned is an intimate bar and lounge area with artwork adorning the walls. It's a modern, minimalist, and sleek space. The artwork is ever-changing (every couple of months or so) and the cocktail menu changes right long with it. Note: artwork is available for purchase. What an absolutely glorious way of combining different mediums (liquid art vs physical art). The craft cocktails & mocktails are the epitome of works of art. I've had great cocktails and mocktails elsewhere but honestly I'd be hard pressed to find anything on this level. You're taken into an entirely different realm just watching the genius of mixologists. It's mesmerizing watching them hone their craft. In the back of the lounge is an enclave of eclectic art and other pieces that then leads you to Konbini, the sushi bar. It's an industrial, warehouse vibe with a long counter that screams hip, Tokyo inspired, late-night eatery. Service is impeccable and welcoming at this cosmopolitan venue. It's truly an amazing experience.

I was pretty bothered by my experience here. Even aside from their mid drinks, it felt like we were constantly chasing down servers and they were only attentive when they needed something from us. We went to the photobooth to take pictures before we sat down, but the machine ate my money and broke down. I let a server know, and he came back and said he would comp $20 off of our meal, which I was happy about. I honestly only wanted them to refund me my $10 for the photobooth strip. However, they came back a few minutes later and gave us a photo card and told us to use it to pay for the photobooth and it could be used an unlimited amount of times. I was also happy with this solution, but what happened afterwards left a bad taste in my friends' and my mouth. We hadn't gotten menus or been asked what we wanted to order yet. We were just waiting around for drink menus and food menus, so we didn't want to get up and go take photos when they might come back to take our orders. The manager (?) came back to me a few minutes later and asked if we had taken photos yet, and I let him know that we were waiting to be given menus. He said someone else would give us menus, and another server gave us only a drink menu. A few minutes later, we are still waiting for food menus. The same manager came back and asked us to not lose the photo card. At this point, we were frustrated. Why come back constantly to ask for a photo card when we haven't even been given our food or our menus yet? When we finally got our food, a different server asked if we had given back the photo card yet. They were so pressed about getting this photo card back and not actually getting our orders, and we also thought it was a bit distasteful to offer a solution (the $20 off the meal) but then go back on it with the photo card. It was presented as "unlimited" swipes but we were rushed to give the card back, and realistically, we only had enough time to take one set of photos. The drinks themselves were truly just okay. I don't think any of us were particularly impressed with our drinks, but the interior of Papercut is really nice and intimate.

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.
