Of…read morecourse the products are $$$, but in terms of quality, retention, and overall results you cannot beat the value. My go to person is Lisa. A sheer delight to work with giving reasonable facial tips.

MAN does it pain me to write this review. I've had a love affair with Von Maur for over a decade…read more And boy, oh boy do I miss my random shopping getaways pre-pandemic. It has been my go-to for formal wear, Iowa Hawkeye gear, shoes, accessories, swimwear and more over the years. But this summer they changed their return policy. I think a lot of it is pretty standard... - Return within 90 days with a receipt: Receive purchase price back to original form of payment - Return after 90 days with receipt or anytime with a gift receipt: Receive purchase price as merchandise credit only. - Return without a receipt: Receive current selling price as merchandise credit only. My issue with this change is with their new FINAL SALE policy. - They cut the tags off your brand new items to ensure you can't return them. Therefore my newly purchased, never worn item that I just so happened to score a great deal on... looks not new. Possible pre-owned. What if I planned to gift someone that item? Don't they deserve to know it hasn't been worn and is right off the rack? (Or in my case, I got a supposedly unworn bikini without any tags... which was unexpected. And kind of weirded me out.) If you need to scribble on the tag, over the barcode-- go for it. But I go to Von Maur for the experience and the unique items sold there. It is tacky and off brand to send new items sans tag. (And when I contacted customer service to express my opinion about said two piece. I was basically shrugged off.) I buy plenty of thrift items for myself and even they include a tag... just sayin. This would be a two star, just because of how I feel about the new changes. But I still stand by Von Maur as a quality store. This change may stop me from getting certain items here now. (#shopsmall, #shoplocal) But it shouldn't deter you from getting full-priced items here!

I'm allergic to dogs and was really sad to see this as I won't be coming back to this store. It not universally positive to subject your customers to dogs during their shopping experience. I don't see people bringing in their cats, rabbits or other pets. It seems to be a dog owner thing to feel that their need to have their dog close usurps all.

I've bought from their catalog for years, and was thrilled to see them open a shop in Madison. And after my first visit, it looks like they've done it right. The retail store has limited space, so this fall they've concentrated on their basic and cold weather items. The space is no-frills attractive, the layout more browsable than tightly organized. Staff were friendly and helpful, but didn't hover. The woman who waited on me showed up every so often to put my stuff in a fitting room and answer questions; other than that, she let me do my thing. Both clerks present that day knew the merchandise. This is not a cheap place to shop. A top may cost $50, a pair of pants or sweatshirt $75, and outerwear more like $100. What you get for that is a well-made item that's both functional and attractive, made for movement, and in many cases suitable for athletic, outdoor use. They're well-sewn, using technical fabrics and other synthetics, as well as some cotton and wool. They will also help you with items from the mail-order catalog, if you want to order something that's not in the store, or have a problem or return. I have been happy with 95% of what I've ordered from them for the past five years or so. Having the store is even better, because it takes out the guesswork.

They don't hawk you for sales and let you be after telling you about the specials. There is usually someone to help you in the dressing room to get another size if needed or if you allow, to make sure you are being fitted correctly. I like Soma's bras for its simplicity and quality. They aren't screaming **** me, but more like, I'm here to support you and make your day better. There are styles with touches of lace, quite a bit with push-ups, and a variety of colors that can make you feel beautiful. I've bought items online and have made returns with some ease. They don't allow returns on washed items and I've had one person get snippy at me for folding the bras in half in the return bag. It messes up the structure of the bra so she said. Join their email list and you'll get Love Soma Rewards promotions. The last time I went, I didn't know it but I had 20% off (clearance included) and came away with two bras for under $20.

This is more of a review of Marmot than of Fontana Sports. I bought my first Marmot down jacket…read morehere, and it lasted almost twenty years before the zipper broke. It kept me so warm and toasty in the brutal upper Midwest winters. I discovered the Marmot brand here in the 1990s. Back in the 1990s, Patagonia was not considered as "technical" and as bougie as Marmot and The North Face. Arcteryx either didn't exist or was an obscure brand almost thirty years ago. Now, Patagonia and Arcteryx are off-the-charts insanely priced. Marmot and The North Face are considered "value" brands. In any case, I still buy Marmot; it's better quality and far better value than Patagonia because: 1. Higher down fill power and 2. Higher down fill weight I recently bought a 700-fill down parka from Marmot with 220 grams of down for far less money than a 600-fill down parka with 150 grams of down from Patagonia. I was cold in the Patagonia parka, and it was horribly expensive. I had to return. I also bought coats from Eddie Bauer and from L.L. Bean. Nowhere nearly as warm as Marmot. The Marmot down parka that I recently bought is called the Montreaux Coat, and I've yet to find a warmer coat at such a great price point. It hits my knee, although it's supposed to hit my calf, so that's a bit misleading on their website. It's closer to parka length than coat length. I like that when the zipper broke after almost twenty years of owning my first Marmot down jacket, I called Marmot's Customer Service, they sent me a shipping label, and they said that they would gladly repair the zipper for me, for free. When they couldn't repair the zipper, they just sent me a new Marmot down jacket. So, I wore that complimentary replacement jacket for another ten years before finally buying the Montreaux coat this year almost thirty years after buying my first Marmot down jacket from Fontana Sports.
