There is a decent sushi place, McDonald's and a laundrymat across from it…read more If I need more cologne they have a little boutique thingy in it and thats convenient. The movie theater is the only one in Iowa City and the closest theatre besides that is in coralville granted there is far more to do up there which might be why some people give this mall low reviews. For dinner and a movie its not bad. Pizza ranch has an all you can eat buffet and when its open you can get a good deal on a buffet and movie ticket combo. There is a decent mexican place and a panera bread in there to. When I didnt have a vehicle and was living with my thieving biological mother the sycamore mall was convenient as it was a couple blocks from Indigo Ct. ($300 a month to sleep on a freakin couch in the living room + besides the fact that my crap went missing alot Robin and her thieving con-artist daughters beatrice and amanda stole from me and although Maryellen never stole from me...when I had a vehicle she did try to kill me by disconnecting my brakes. It was over a phone debate we had about abortion. She called after she saw something about abortion on my facebook. She disconnected my brakes three times before I got a car alarm) Although I did walk/run alot and even walked to coralville sometimes I didnt feel like walking that far just to catch a movie. PS if you know my biological family do not trust them. Definitely dont loan any of them money or leave you stuff around them. Dont let maryellen know where you live. I was adopted at birth and my biological mother and her three daughters are evil wicked vile slime. I regret meeting them.

I'm the f irst to review the dying Sycamore Mall in 5 years. Yes, 5 years. I suppose that's a major…read moresign that no one shops this mall anymore, except for going to a movie or visiting the hobby shop or toy collectibles store. Remember when going to the mall was the thing you wanted to do after school and on the weekends? I'm giving Sycamore 3/5 because I know what it once was. It's a pretty desolate place these days. Movie theatre, hobby shop, toy collectibles shop, taekwondo lessons, and what else I'm not sure. As long as the theater doesn't do anywhere I think the few remaining business can survive. If the theater closes I'm afraid it will be the same for everyone else. Definitely check it out for the theater, hobby shop and the shop that has all of your favorite childhood toys and collectibles. Or if you want to remember what it felt like to shop something pre Coral Ridge.

On day thirty one, I online shopped…read more I read this great article the other day about present shopping intentionally. (Eco-Friendly, Hand-Made, Small Biz, Woman Owned... etc) It got me inspired. With Mother's Day a whopping THREE weeks away-- I figured I'd both support my local woman-owned small biz and get a gift or two to make a mom in my life feel seen, loved and appreciated. This review is for an online shopping experience at Revival. Their site is easy to use. I love the tabs...from new to sale items. Gifts for under $25 tab, too. They've got a little bit of something for everyone-- but compared to the store, selection is a bit limited. With the lovely lady in my life being 70+ and growing more fearful by the day of this pandemic-- I opted for the Cold & Flu Blend of essential oils. Practical, yet thoughtful. (Annnnnd... I may have gotten something for myself. HEY. I'm a mom, too! Revival has a WONDERFUL Free People selection.) I made my two purchases... got to the dreaded shipping options... and saw all local deliveries are free! I got my package a mere TEN HOURS after ordering it. (Even with a text informing me it had been left on my step.) Support local. Support small. Support women-owned. Support retail during this crazy time. Oh, and don't forget to spoil your momma. Shop Revival!

I'm a big fan of Revival and have been going to this store since I was in college and every time I…read morevisit Iowa City I stop by. I would describe Revival as a Vintage Boutique that buys and resells thrifted and new items + home goods (candles, room sprays, incense) It's been about five years since my return and oh how things have changed! I'll start with the positive first: they now sell sex toys and lube (Maude brand) which is super cool. The candles they sell are so unique and well crafted. What a creative idea to use old fish tins for the base! The not so good: in summary everything's extremely overpriced. Revival use to be more of a thrift store (and yes they still buy and resell thrifted items) but now a large selection of their items are new and well over $100. Mind you this is not a luxury store. Now, I will say Revival has always carried new items and more "high quality pieces" however, today I saw a "preloved" coach bag for $300+ which was insane to me. The selection of clothing is more neutral and basic tones like cream, nude, brown and white. I miss the color and variety that use to be! Today I purchased some groovy sunglasses, vintage Levi Jeans, and some other new goodies. I still love this place and will check it out again the next time I'm in town!
