I love this place. You never know what you will find. Staff is very friendly. They have great end of season marketing downs.

The workers here are very nice and helpful but I will no longer be taking any clothes there based…read moreon how picky they are and what they take and what they don't. the money at this point is not even worth it you're better off donating it to shelters, or even a goodwill. I brought in two baskets full of name brand, tags still on, things that were never worn brands like lululemon, adidas, Nike, lulus , shoes that were never worn and everything in both baskets was passed on. Not a single thing was taken. They say stuff is "out of style" when mostly everything in their store are the same type of items I brought in to try and sell make it make sense. Disappointed.

Every time I go in to sell clothes they always use the same standard excuse but I see the clothing…read moreand brands they claim they don't take on their shelves. They claim on the website that everything must be in good/ great condition however as I was waiting for my current in style clothing to be gone through I saw row after row of dirty shoes, sneakers, boots etc. I saw sweaters with snags and pen marks. They purchased two of my items out of around 40 and stated that they just didn't accept shirts like that etc. I stated clearly that their racks were full of them that are the same brands they claim they don't take and the same type they say they don't take. I called today about a designer handbag duffle I have and was CLEAR over the phone to the clerk that answered what the brand was. It is a designer brand. I wasted time bringing it up to the store and filling out the forms just to be told that they only take 5 brands of Handbags at their store. Why wasn't I told that over the phone ? Wasted an hour of my time? Funny thing that designer bag they turned away because of the designer I found 9 items of clothing by that brand in THEIR store. I would suggest selling on Poshmark or some other way. I have sold way more on Posh since Plato's Closet here in Dubuque told me they wouldn't purchase my items. Funny those items sold and for way more than the few items they did take from me. Unprofessional and basically an " I don't give a crap" attitude from employees.

McCoy Jeweler - vintage & floral engagement rings

I had a deeply disappointing experience with McCoy Jewelers that I feel compelled to share,…read moreespecially for anyone considering them for something as costly and meaningful as an engagement or wedding ring. After reading yelp reviews, I was drawn to them based on the reviews and them being a small business and operating since 1973 I took in my late father's vintage wedding band to have it resized so I could wear it. The original size was 10.75, and they measured my finger at a small of 9.25--a reduction of 1.5 sizes. They quoted me $250 for the job, with half due upfront. The technicians were articulate and displayed skill. I trusted their expertise and left the ring in their care. When I picked up the ring, it felt uncomfortably tight. Their response was simply, "Give it a few weeks." As time went on, the ring became so tight I couldn't wear it at all. When I returned, they insisted the work was done correctly at the time and blamed my finger for supposedly changing size. They offered no solution, only excuses. I asked them to resize it to a 9.5 or 9.75 so I could wear it. The refused. When I tried to discuss my concerns, the owner dismissed me with condescending double talk, suggesting I was just a difficult customer because I hadn't worn jewelry before. I felt insulted and taken advantage of. To add insult to injury, they kept the gold removed from my ring during resizing. For a typical men's gold band, reducing by 1.5 sizes removes about 1.2 to 1.5 grams of gold--worth roughly $120 to $150 at current prices. Ethical jewelers follow the practice of returning this gold to the customer, but McCoy's did not. Instead, they kept it, likely to resell or reuse, which felt dishonest and exploitative. It's important to mention that getting engaged and dealing with expensive and meaningful jewelry for a lifetime is already a stressful time. You need to be able to trust the people you're working with. Unfortunately, McCoy Jewelers only made the process more stressful and left me with a bad taste. Eventually, I had the ring properly resized at a reputable jeweler in Chicago for $85, and now it fits perfectly every day irrespective of the time of day, the weather, or my body temperature. In summary: McCoy Jewelers overcharged, kept my gold, failed to stand by their work, and treated me poorly. I support local businesses whenever I can, but I cannot recommend this one. My experience shows that, at McCoy's, the customer is definitely not always right.

They were great with communication and getting it done in a timely manner. We recently went back in to get our wedding bands made. We are on a time crunch and they were amazing at getting us different designs that we were looking at within two days. They all have been amazing to work with!
