The workers here are very nice and helpful but I will no longer be taking any clothes there based on how picky they are and what they take and what they don't. the money at this point is not even worth it you're better off donating it to shelters, or even a goodwill. I brought in two baskets full of name brand, tags still on, things that were never worn brands like lululemon, adidas, Nike, lulus , shoes that were never worn and everything in both baskets was passed on. Not a single thing was taken. They say stuff is "out of style" when mostly everything in their store are the same type of items I brought in to try and sell make it make sense. Every time I go in to sell clothes they always use the same standard excuse but I see the clothing and brands they claim they don't take on their shelves. They claim on the website that everything must be in good/ great condition however as I was waiting for my current in style clothing to be gone through I saw row after row of dirty shoes, sneakers, boots etc. I saw sweaters with snags and pen marks. They purchased two of my items out of around 40 and stated that they just didn't accept shirts like that etc. I stated clearly that their racks were full of them that are the same brands they claim they don't take and the same type they say they don't take. I called today about a designer handbag duffle I have and was CLEAR over the phone to the clerk that answered what the brand was. It is a designer brand. I wasted time bringing it up to the store and filling out the forms just to be told that they only take 5 brands of Handbags at their store. Why wasn't I told that over the phone ? Wasted an hour of my time? Funny thing that designer bag they turned away because of the designer I found 9 items of clothing by that brand in THEIR store. I would suggest selling on Poshmark or some other way. I have sold way more on Posh since Plato's Closet here in Dubuque told me they wouldn't purchase my items. Funny those items sold and for way more than the few items they did take from me. Unprofessional and basically an " I don't give a crap" attitude from employees. read more

Plato's closet in Dubuque is one of my favorite buy sell trade stores! The clothes is always trendy and at a reasonable cost. And they give me a good amount of money for the items I bring in. Every time I go I leave with a smile :) staff is also very friendly. Anet ( the store manager ) is super sweet too! Can't wait to visit again!! read more

This place is a joke. I wish we had our old consignment store back. I went in with a lot of NEW clothes that I had never worn things like Nike basketball shorts, new pair of Vans, new Hurley board short, Jordan shirts etc. I came back and they wanted three of my items. And said the rest weren't in style. The three items they wanted were the new Vans, Nike shorts and the Hurley board shorts and they offered me $11!! Are you kidding, Linda? These NEW clothes "aren't in style," but you took Stacy's brown foot stained flip flops? Get out of dodge. You go in on a different day and someone different will accept the things the previous person turned away and offer you a different price. I hate this store. read more

I've been here multiple times and it is way over priced. $20 for a pair of used American Eagle jeans? That's ridiculous. I went online and bought some for 19.99 brand new. The staff was super rude to my friends and I. I have given them so many chances when I go and I am nice. They just return it with rudeness. read more

Awesome selection. Found some great deals and they have a ton of shoes and accessories.

Good selection but the prices are the same as the sale rack in the mall, where I can buy it brand new! Only wanted to give me $7 for a $40 blazer that still had the tags on it. Then the sales girls gave me a snotty attitude when I asked them how it all worked (I've never been to a Plato's before this). I'll stick with waiting for end of season sales... read more
