The Detroit Plain did not disappoint. The crust was crispy on the edges and super light and fluffy in the middle. There was a good balance of sauce and cheese and the basil added a nice freshness. The Philly Cooper was the best cheesesteak I've had in NJ. It was loaded with steak, onions and cooper sharp. It was a a very rich and slightly salty sandwich with all that cheese but that's kind of what you expect from a good cheesesteak. The fries are also nice a crispy. I knocked it down 1 star because the service was pretty slow and the kids chicken tenders we ordered for my son were a little dry. Also, they let us know ahead of time that the food was going to come out at different times but it still made the dining in experience a little weird. Overall I would absolutely come back because the Detroit pizza and cheesesteak are among the best, if not the best in NJ.

The combo of the beef, fresh onion, super fresh tomato, melted cheese in every nook and cranny, the sauce and that potato roll reached a level that not many burgers in my lifetime have reached. I housed the burger in record time and wished I had gotten another. Needless to say I'll be stalking LA at future pop ups. They used to operate out of Confessions of a Rock Star in Asbury Park. Im not sure if that's still the case but wherever you find them, go see them.

The entire place is alive with energy -- you can watch the cooks in the back in their flow, while the bartenders stir a cocktail & the waitresses whip around the tables. It's a relatively intimate spot, tastefully decorated. The burger is one of my favorite burgers on the face of the planet. Is it expensive ? Sure. But it is made with quality ingredients and I truly crave this weekly. Just try it. Their menu is small and items change to accommodate local seasonal ingredients. Their salads are incredible, their steak tartare with grilled sourdough is another favorite-- I really have never had a bad meal here.

The building is in the National Historic Registry. (Cool Ambiance) This Ale House is humongous with at least two to three bars. The interior was really colorful with upbeat wall to wall murals. In addition, you'll see some cool stuff like an old-fashioned telephone booth and signage. For fun, there's a small arcade area with timed basketball and air hockey in one area of the ale house. (Service & Food) Natasha was our wonderful and caring server. A bottle of cold water and glasses w/ice were brought to the table. We ordered soft drinks to start out. For lunch, we ordered a Grilled Chicken Avocado BLT and a Caprese Sandwich. Both sandwiches had wonderful fresh ingredients. Each platter came with a small air fryer container of spicy chips. The bacon on my sandwich was nice and crispy. Just the way I like it. : D The manager Nicole came to check in on our table along with others. We told her everything was great. Definitely recommend Asbury Ale House. In regards to parking, we parked on the street and used the mobile app. It was a weekday and street parking was tricky. The food didn't take too long to come out and the portions were good but the taste was just okay. We did experience a couple missing items (side of avocado and chimichurri) and brought this to the server's attention. For the chimichurri, we were told that it didn't come with the steak because they didn't have it anymore so they didn't include it in our meal. We should have been told this before the food came out or even right after it was set on the table. We were offered a replacement sauce (pico de gallo) just to find out that it cost extra and had to explain that it should be free as a replacement to the chimichurri. The manager was able to comp the pico and apologized. At the end of the meal, I was also surprised to not receive any acknowledgement that I was celebrating my birthday (which I marked on the reservation). Once I received the receipt, I noticed that we were also charged extra for the missing side of avocado and an extra sauce. This was not disclosed to us prior. I can see why this place would be popular due to the atmosphere but the food and service here would not have me coming back.

We sat at the bar because there were plenty of seats. It looked like there were two bartenders working. The restaurant was only half full, but we thought we'd have good service at the bar. Our server seemed new; she didn't write down our order. She repeated it back incorrectly, still didn't write it down, and then entered it into the POS system. She kept asking if it was correct as she shouted it back to us. We thought this was weird because she could've just written it down. We ordered ricotta toast and a breakfast sandwich with bacon. It took 40 minutes for the food to come out and when it did they forgot the bacon. And my toast was cold. We asked the other bartender about the bacon and the long wait time, and he was very rude. We said, we ordered 40 minutes ago and no one came back to check on us. The girl who waited on us was standing behind the bar, staring at us, writing in a notebook and never acknowledged us after that. The other male bartender was rude when we asked how much longer our order would take he said "You did not order 40 minutes ago!!" I said, we did. Upon walking into the restaurant, we took several pictures and they were time stamped. The male bartender went over to the POS system to check our order. We stated that we did order bacon 40 minutes prior. It had never been put in so he added it to our order. We waited for the bacon; it didn't come out for several minutes. While we were waiting, I asked for the manager and the male bartender snapped back at me and said "Why?" He didn't want to get her, and I insisted I speak to her because I wanted to let someone about this experience. He walked away from the bar, threw his hands up and was yelling. After that he didn't speak to us either. I find it shocking that there are people like this who don't care about food, service or helping customers at all. I wouldn't go back here because it was very strange, and I've never had an experience with two servers who were so rude and aloof.
