Natalie is amazing. I have been going to her for over 10 years. In the 10+ years that I have under her care, I've had: -highlights -low lights -various protein treatments (Keratin, Brazilian Blowout, etc) -extensions -experimented with all different hair lengths It feels like we've done it all. When I sit in her hair, it is "we" because she provides honest advice and having her customers love their final result when they leave is her priority. Did I mention she is super kind too? Natalie has a calm energy that will put you at ease and make you feel as if you as visiting an old friend. I've noticed that most of her clients do consider her to be a friend. It's lovely. This place is absolutely a miracle worker. I came in, with a knot/dread in my hair, due to a nasty reaction to an overnight hair mask which turned into glue. These ladies were so sweet, and supportive. I was so worried about probably having to cut all my hair off. But they all worked really hard to help out (multiple stylists) where they could, and never let up until all of it was out. I cannot stress how crazy this knot was. I let them know time constraints about picking my kids up, and the worked relentlessly. Also, they gave me a trim and blow out, earn I told them I was okay with leaving with wet hair. Note: this review gets 3 stars solely for the fact that Adela has done a great job on my hair/she is fabulous with the 'long bob' style. The ambiance, disingenuous personalities of many of the staff- especially the young girls at the front, and the horrific wait time when I have a SCHEDULED appointment get a minus 1. Oh, and did I mention they raised their prices? I am sorely disappointed to report that after 3 separate visits of the same nature, I am going to need to find a new hair salon for my routine trims. Taking suggestions now! Where do I begin: I am on my third visit here and yet all the young girls (I say young but they are mid-20s aka my age) who should know better by now and have some darn manners, always look astonished when I walk in, like, who is this and why is she here? It's like ageism except.. well, we are all probably the same age. I am always dressed nicely and I have a decent paying job- BUT even if I didn't, EVERYONE should be treated with respect!! A notion that does not seem to get a second thought these days. Furthermore, on every visit, I have arrived on time (at least 5 minutes early if not more) and yet I have had to wait up to 25 minutes to get started- and that's just to have my hair shampooed. I understand that the hair stylists (including Adela) are busy and probably overbook themselves but in this area, we are ALL busy and have tight schedules. If it had been a one time thing where I had to wait, that would be fine, but 3 times in a row???? Lastly, I was never offered, on all 3 separate occasions, a magazine or something to drink. That may be the responsibility of the stylist themselves but it was odd, considering I overheard another stylist offering her client a glass of WINE, even. I am sad to report that the 3rd time is not always the charm. I can recommend Adela for her adept hand at dealing with hair, especially- as mentioned earlier- the shorter styles, but the salon as a whole is completely overpriced for the lack of service one receives. I'm like one of the other reviewers, I was looking on Yelp recently for hair salons in Vienna, Va and Victoria Station popped up, right at the top, with great reviews. I haven't found the 'perfect' salon in Northern Virginia yet, so I said what the hell, it's worth a try. Now, I've been to salons in the area where when I walk in I instantly feel judged and ugly because that's the attitude and vibe that the people who work there give off. Not here. I was treated very nice here by everyone. It was my first time in, so I felt a little scattered about where to sit, who my stylist was, do I talk to her? Would she want to talk back? Is it weird if I just sit here and read? All those questions that run through your mind when you go someplace new. I felt kind of dumb even thinking some of that stuff because the people here were so down to earth and friendly. My stylist was Becca, she asked me what I wanted, suggested ideas (because she's the expert, not me and I totally trusted her, she just had that way about her). I knew right away she wasn't going to screw my hair up or judge me for being in sweats with my un colored / been almost 8 months since i've had a hair cut hair shedding all over the place since I just had a baby! She was very nice and helpful, nice to chat with, overall great experience and i'd definitely recommend Becca. She wasn't pushy about the next appointment or products. I really liked that! I will definitely go back here for my next cut and color. It's a little pricey, but lets face it, all really good salons. After reading excellent reviews, I made an appointment to have my hair cut for donation. Of course, I waited until last minute to book and expected to have another disappointing haircut. I was so very wrong! I was booked with Jane. She transformed my hair from mommy mop to well, a bone fide style. Jane carefully cut so Pantene Beautiful Lengths program got every possible centimeter of my mane while preserving enough for me to have a spunky doo. Here's the very best part; (better than the 50% discount for being a donor) no less than 8 weeks after my cut, a stranger stopped me to compliment my hair cut. A stranger. Complimenting. In NOVA. Stranger things have not happened. This was repeated a week later by a cashier at a Trader Joe's. She thought I had just come from the salon next door when in fact, my hair was a couple days from fresh and had just left a Chuck E. Cheese play date with my son. I returned to have a cut but Jane was not able to make the appointment. I was scheduled with Natalie. She also did a wonderful job. After 6 years of salon hopping, my hair has found a NOVA home. Do not go here to see Natalie! I just had the worst haircut of my life. I'm so confused why she has good reviews.... She just isn't skilled at cutting hair. Maybe she's good at up-do's? Definitely not great at cutting hair. I showed her pictures of exactly what I wanted and I thought I was really clear (long layered, side swept bangs... Not anything crazy). But somehow she gave me almost a blunt bang and the crappiest, uneven layers I have ever seen. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone! When I tried to get her to fix my bangs she said the bangs didn't really need to be blended into the side and that it looked fine. Okay newsflash - when your customer says she's unhappy with her hair you need to fix it. Or at least try. Maybe the other stylists are good, but my haircut looked like Jennifer Aniston's layered bob from the early seasons of Friends. Hair styles have evolved in the last 15 years and hair stylists need to maintain their skills to keep up with trends. If you don't mind having a hair stylist that doesn't listen to a word you say or understand how to look a picture and emulate a haircut, then go see Natalie. Besides a lack of skill, I was also surprised by her lack of professionalism. I've been having my hair cut and colored here for years. Ask for Donald Bostwick - he is a master colorist and gives a great haircut. I was referred to him because he is amazing at blowing out hair. His blow outs literally last for four days. Aside from his technical acumen, he cares about his clients and goes the extra mile. I was frustrated that I could not blow dry my hair at home and have it look decent. Over the years, he took the time to teach me how to hold the dryer, what brushes to use, etc. He also taught me the proper way to flat iron my hair so it looks amazing. I really can't say enough about well he treats his loyal clients. Like family. He always runs on time and the staff is friendly and professional. Highly recommend Donald!! read more

This review is for Donald. I know i have frizzy hair but dreads wtf?? I had made an apt. for a Brazilian blow out with Donald after calling a few other places and felt a good connection over the phone- with Donald. Now I had gone to Iceland for a hiking trip and before I left got my hair colored- AT A DIFFERENT salon and went to the blue lagoon and after my time in the water my hair felt and looked like I had dreads and was SOO harsh to the touch. Fast forward couple days and back home i go and meet Donald for my BBO and he was so approachable and he looked at me than my hair and was shocked! I got my hair washed and as he was combing through my hair he just stopped and was looking at the ends w his fingers and was able to break off my hair ends with a gentle touch :( my hair in complete shock! My hair was SOOO damaged from the coloring- (different salon) and mixing with the minerals from blue lagoon!! He lovingly but strongly advised against doing the BBO and explained in good detail that if I proceeded with BBO my hair could have fallen out :( He offered some other options and we both felt that a healthy hair cut was needed. He followed my hair cut with recommending with no pressure two god saving hair products! So mixed w my daily vitamins my hair returned to its natural normal state. Next apt. Donald recolored my hair after we discussed and found the best color options for going a bit darker for the fall/winter. And it came out beautiful, balanced and not too shockingly dark!! Next apt is Tuesday for the BBO! Donald has truly magical hands lovingly advises with a non pressured manner and a great personality to boot! read more

This is the best place to get your hair cut in Vienna/surrounding areas. I see Brenda with the brown hair - there are 2 Brendas - and she is great. She's very precise and I have never been unhappy with her cuts. i also go here to get my eyelashes tinted and for eyebrow waxing with Angie. It seems to be one of the only places where you can get your eyelashes done in NoVa. I've also been here for a spa pedicure, which is incredible but pricey at $65. The guy massages your legs and feet for 30 minutes. And the prices are decent, too - $55 or $50 for a cut, can't remember which exactly. read more

I think this is the place I got my hair cut. I booked with Brenda and she was AMAZING. I donated my hair and it's really nice when a place will offer that. (locks of love is the charity) And Brenda spent a lot of time with me, I have LOADS of hair. I'm a lion. And she made me look fine, I kid you not. It was hard but she managed. :P I'm definitely going back before I leave for the summer. I recommend it to everyone. This place was at best meh. I went there based on the reviews here but clearly they do not reflect the actual place. I needed my roots touched up and wanted highlights. They would not book me for a blow dry as they were too busy. The highlights I asked for where a bit lighter (caramel) then my original color and I wanted to have some that were more on the blondish side. I also wanted very thin highlights with visible separation between them. I just got home and looked at my hair (dried)--I am glad that I stopped the lady from applying bleach to my hair--YIKES! The highlights don't really reflect what I asked for and I even showed her a picture in one of her magazines. The highlights turned out a bronze/reddish color which doesn't look right and they are all over--not what I asked for. Also, when I called they quoted my a price of $95 for the touch up and the highlights (the only reason I went here was because of the reviews on here and the price). Then they charged me $145 when I said that is not the price I was quoted the owner (I guess) started arguing with me. Definitely did not want to go to a salon to get into a confrontation. This place is definitely over rated on here. Don't go there if you are looking for a modern, stylish salon. read more

She's even better than the reviews :) She gave me a great cut that suits my face/features plus, a treasure trove of newcomer information; where to go, what to do, etc. All good advice. A wonderful salon with experienced stylists. I have been going to Becca for a number of years and find her very professional, knowledgable and always takes lots of time with me. The salon is expensive, but I get excellent service and have loved every cut I have had and my hair feels great after it is cut here. I had a Brazilian blowout a few years ago that worked, but I had a lot of pain, burning and discomfort from the chemicals and would not choose to do that it again. Donald is an all star! It took it only 2 hours to do the BBO, and he also took the time to share his knowledge about the chemicals being used to help me feel comfortable with deciding to go the BBO route. I LOVE my hair now! It takes me practically 1/9th the time to do my hair now, saving me a solid 35 minutes every day. I got the BBO a month ago and it is still going strong. Most people's experiences are based off of their stylist (regardless of the salon) and I would definitely recommend Natalie. I have been here twice! The first time was with Coco, whom I think is a favorite of a lot of regulars, and Adela. Both were long-time stylists at Victoria Station so their prices were $65 when I went. Shampoo, condition, and blow-dry included. I love the personalized feel of the salon- it feels like a place that Vienna goers really trust! In for my recent haircut about 2 weeks ago, my hair was long, dried out, limp, and split-ended (I have black, straight hair). I let Adela cut almost 6 inches off based on pictures I showed her and a little bit more after she blew dry it so I could see if I liked it! I'm always iffy right after I get my haircut that short, but I decided to write this review because I have loved my hair since then! It's been so easy with minimal styling as it falls naturally with the perfect layers that Adela put in. Testament of a great haircut is how it grows out so I'm confident Adela did a great job, as did Coco did when I went two years ago! I don't go here too often since it's kind of pricey for a recent college graduate, but it was my Christmas gift so I didn't have to pay! I'll go somewhere else for my occasional trim, but if I want a good restyling, I'll definitely come back here in the future. Also, pro tip- the newer stylists cost about $40-45 and I trust Victoria Station's quality and their whole team so I would still feel confident going with one of the newer stylists if you want to try Victoria Station for the first time! This salon is honestly the best in town, no lie! The people are so welcoming and always so cheerful. I have gotten almost everything done and never had an issue with anyone. If you have problem frizzy hair, you need to meet Donald at Victoria Station. He worked with me to fix my hair for several months and it's paid off! I've had fine, dry, frizzy problem hair since I was born (think Baby Einstein). It became even more of a problem after I returned to DC and paid a fortune to have it over-processed at a top name salon (Color, cut, and a brazilian straightening that looked so terrible I was holding back the tears as I paid.) Based on the Yelp reviews, I went to see Donald. He was honest - told me it would take several sessions to get the hair back to where it needed to be - health, length etc). But if I could be patient and give my hair a chance to get healthy again, we'd be able to do so much more in the future. And it has been worth it. With each visit, it has become better and better. He's fixed the color while avoiding over processing. Hair is healthy again and he gives me a cut I can wear curly (Donald brought the natural curl back the other salon said I didn't have anymore!) . I can let dry naturally for a fun curly look or blow straight for a more formal, finished look. It is such a treat to have these choices again. I used to dread dealing with my hair in the morning.
