Well, I just stumbled upon this YELP website while looking up the "hours" for M&F. Wasn't planning…read moreon leaving a review but felt compelled to do so after reading the review by Harry G. I couldn't disagree more! Mathew & Fields has always been a "top notch" business. Yes, you sometimes have to put up with a few "quirks" when dealing with a small, hometown business. Several years ago I was remodeling my front entryway and needed some 8' MDF trim cut to 6'. I remember the gentleman described by Harry G. A little rough around the edges? Yes, but overall a good guy. Complaining because the guy is black and "scared" poor ole' Harry? Give me a break. Thank God we still have lumber yards like Mathew and Fields. The big box stores have put so many of these "little guys" out of business.

We ordered a 30" x 80 framed solid wood door. The girl on the phone asked my husband what size…read moredoor he wanted and gave him their product number for it (nothing that meant anything to him and nothing that indicated she had gotten the order accurately). When it was delivered, it was a 32" door. When he called about it, he was told that they would order us a 30" door for half price delivered. BUT...no take backs and no credit for their mistake. Take your chances...make sure they get your order right or you will eat it! Oh, and then I called and left Mr. Matthews a message but no return call.

If I could give ZERO stars I would. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! They promised me a discount in writing and…read morethen backed out saying they couldn't do it. I worked with Joe (Josiah) Slocum. Picked out my flooring when it came to ringing it up he was newer and said he didn't know how to apply the discount. Said once his manager got finished he would get him to refund it and I could just pay now. I had a Dr appointment so I agreed if he could put that in writing. Now they are telling me they can't honor it, probably hoping I'd just keep the order anyway. Such bad business practices. The old bait and switch routine. I am in sales myself and would never not honor something I put in writing for a customer. I will never shop here again. And I recommend you not shop here either. When I told Joe that I was going to trash them on social media and he said "bash away". This is not good business practices.

He became red, got up, and asked a co-worker to correct the problem. What a nasty guy. Yes, I am a woman. Yes, I instal hardwood floors. Get used to it, Ken. He later apologized.....not for screaming, but for charging the wrong amount. Apologized from the other end of the store. Wimp!
