Pork bun was dry. Chicken was bland but the dumplings were solid. Just deeply deeply meh.

SaiTong Thai - Chicken Satay

Had a really nice dining experience at SaiTong Thai! I visited on a Sunday around 2 PM with a party…read moreof about eight, and we were seated immediately. The service was great, and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time, especially considering the size of our group. I ordered the garlic sautéed broccoli with fried tofu, which came with a side of white rice, and it was excellent! Everything was cooked perfectly, and the seasoning was spot on. The garlic added so much flavor without being overpowering, and the tofu and broccoli paired really well together. Such a simple dish, but definitely one I'd order again! The restaurant itself also had a lovely atmosphere, with classy, tasteful decor. They were also offering complimentary Thai iced tea in exchange for a Google review, which a few people at our table took advantage of. Overall, great food, attentive service, and a beautiful space. I'd happily return to try more of the menu!

Located in NYC's Theater District, SaiTong deserves a Tony Award for Best Performance on Broadway!…read moreFrom the moment I walked through the door, the energy was fantastic. Nearly every seat was filled, and I was fortunate enough to grab an open seat at the bar. One thing I appreciate is a restaurant that delivers an authentic dining experience, and SaiTong Thai did not disappoint. I started with the fried shrimp wonton special, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. But the real showstopper was the pineapple fried rice (with vegetables). Loaded with fresh vegetables, pineapple, cashews, raisins, curry spices, and an incredible combination of textures and flavors, this dish was anything but ordinary. Too often, ordering a vegetable dish means getting a few basic additions. Not here! The variety, freshness, and attention to detail made every bite memorable. From the lively atmosphere to the outstanding food, SaiTong delivered a standing-ovation-worthy performance! Make this restaurant a priority when visiting the Theater District. I'll definitely be back for an encore.

I had heard so much hype about this place, so l was really excited to bring a group here before our…read moreshow. The restaurant itself is gorgeous-very modern and ideal for large parties. We ordered family-style to share, starting with the cashew shrimp, spring rolls, and wontons, followed by the braised short rib lo mein, crab fried rice, chicken & broccoli, salt & pepper shrimp, and sea bass. Everything tasted decent, but nothing was particularly remarkable for the price point. Unfortunately, the service was lacking. I had to track down our server multiple times throughout the meal. An item was completely forgotten because order details weren't written down, and there was confusion when paying regarding an InKind / Broadway offer. Proper staff training would go a long way here-as it stands, the service level and pricing just don't align."

My husband and I had a mixed experience dining at Brooklyn Chop House. When we arrived, the person…read morebehind the desk told us that another staff member would take us to our table. This young woman took the menus from the front desk. We said hello; she barely looked at us and walked us to an empty section to sit (which wasn't an issue). Suddenly, a door opened behind me, and I realized we were seated right in front of the kitchen entrance. Immediately after, the door kept slamming open and shut as busy staff members carried plates, and we understood what kind of experience we'd have if we stayed seated there (I have a photo of the door behind me). When our waiter came over, I asked if we could move tables; he left to address it. When that female staff member returned to seat us, she said we were going to move to another section. Our drinks had already arrived, and since we had our coats and bags, I asked if someone could bring them over. She said no very sharply, without even looking in our direction. Her energy and tone dampened how welcome we felt at the restaurant, although our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes (he made the perfect recommendation of asparagus to go with my braised short rib entree!). All this said, the food was delicious. The Philly Spring Rolls were moist and perfectly seasoned. The Lobster Wontons had a nice amount of lobster meat, and the fry of the crispy wonton enhanced the flavor of the lobster, which was then topped off by the sweetness of the dipping sauce. For entrees, we had the skirt steak with chimichurri, nicely seared with beautifully flavorful chimichurri; the braised short ribs were well-seasoned, but the meat didn't have that complete "fall-off-the-bone" consistency I look for. The meat was tender, but not as tender as I'd hoped for. The short ribs sat on a bed of bright reddish-brown lo mein, which was a unique touch and highlighted the Asian fusion touch. The lo mein was nicely seasoned. The everything fried rice was everything! So flavorful! That said, I ordered the oxtail fried rice to take home, and I tasted the meat, I didn't get that taste of tender, flavorful oxtail meat that I would expect. It just tasted like any other meat. Finally, the asparagus is a must-order! They're well-seasoned, with a hint of heat. Lastly, I wanted to highlight the drinks. I had the Espresso Martini, which was unremarkable in terms of flavor. But the spotlight goes to the delicious Lychee Frose, which balanced lychee puree, rosé wine, and coconut cream with a fruity, not-too-sweet profile. That drink was a 10/10. Overall, the welcome may have kept us from returning, but the food was wonderful. I hope the restaurant will use this data and incorporate it into future staff learning.

I'd file this spot under "Times Square dinner spots that make you feel like you're not in Times…read moreSquare." Came here for dinner before a show (and after watching that In The City episode...can we all agree the dress was white?!). Anyway, love the vibe of this place, very high end and cool feeling decor wise. We were seated and taken care of right away, our server understood we had to be out at a certain time and made sure everything came out in a timely manner which was much appreciated. I started out with the pani puri cocktail because I'm a simp for pani puri. Loved the little case this whole thing came out in, the drink was delicious and the puri had a smokey flavor to it. We had the Gilafi Paneer to start out which was soft, tasted homemade. The bell pepper and onion with it were roasted and excellent. I went with the goat curry for my main and was blown away, I ate every last drop of this sauce with the garlic naan I was happy to have ordered. Definitely not your typical mediocre Times Square spot. If you're looking for a pre-show dinner spot and love Indian food this is the place for you.

We tried Natraj dahi bhalle which was a hit. Also tried Channa bhatura which was again a great choice and not too overly filling. Bedmi puri sabzi and Koyla chicken was just ok, not something I would crazy over but decent enough. And the last thing we tried was Mutton Seekh kebab roll. This was an absolute pleaser, thin roomali rotis wrapped around perfectly seasoned minced goat meat, paired with the chutney, this was divine. I would recommend trying this place out. We also tried the masala soda which was nice but missed the actual Karol bagh flavor.

The bar this kitchen sets has not wavered between visits (even though my visits have been about two years apart). It is Korean tapas style, meant for sharing. Their menu makes that easy because almost everything on it is worth ordering. The black sesame bread pudding is the dish I think about after every visit. Comes out warm with ice cream on top, savory and sweet at the same time, and it is the perfect way to close the meal. The kimchi fried rice is a standout, packed with flavor and that crunchy quinoa on top adds great texture. The mushroom harvest bowl comes with a soft onsen egg on top and is one of those dishes that surprises you. They also had a raw beef dish on the menu that was equally impressive, similar to a tartare preparation, and worth ordering if it is still available. One thing to know going in: when this place is busy it is loud. My last visit was a Thursday around 7:30pm and having a conversation at a two top took some effort to hear each other. Earlier in the week closer to opening is noticeably quieter if that matters to you. Either way the food is worth it. Put this one on your rotation.

The restaurant itself wasn't too large, so the tables were a bit tightly spaced, but we didn't mind that. The options looked great, and we decided on the following: 1. Brussels sprouts - I loved these! They were a bit on the saltier side, but I don't mind that at all. They were perfectly crisp and perfectly seasoned. 2. Crispy corn and cheese - I've been wanting to try corn ribs, and really liked these! They were fun to eat and were seasoned nicely, but on the sweeter side. 3. Mushroom harvest - Loved this dish as well! Lots of mushrooms and tasted really hearty. 4. Pork and radish bossam - The meat was so tender and flavorful. It wasn't a standout dish, but it tasted good! 5. Steak and Potatoes - The steak was nicely cooked as well, and so were the potatoes! 6. Chicken wings - perfectly crunchy and flavorful. We opted for the soy garlic 7. Yukhwe - this was definitely similar to a tartare, but it tasted great! Overall, I had a really good experience here. I wouldn't mind coming back, all the dishes were a hit! For 3 people, the total came out to $174 including tip.
