Came here for dinner before a show (and after watching that In The City episode...can we all agree the dress was white?!). Anyway, love the vibe of this place, very high end and cool feeling decor wise. We were seated and taken care of right away, our server understood we had to be out at a certain time and made sure everything came out in a timely manner which was much appreciated. I started out with the pani puri cocktail because I'm a simp for pani puri. Loved the little case this whole thing came out in, the drink was delicious and the puri had a smokey flavor to it. We had the Gilafi Paneer to start out which was soft, tasted homemade. The bell pepper and onion with it were roasted and excellent. I went with the goat curry for my main and was blown away, I ate every last drop of this sauce with the garlic naan I was happy to have ordered. Definitely not your typical mediocre Times Square spot. If you're looking for a pre-show dinner spot and love Indian food this is the place for you. read more

We were craving Indian food one evening and decided to try this place. My husband was especially curious about their creative cocktail menu, so we started with drinks. He ordered the Golgappa Margarita -- the concept sounded very interesting and unique, though the drink itself was just average for us. For appetizers, we tried the Natraj Bhalla, which was really enjoyable with all the different chutneys bringing a lot of flavor together. We also ordered the Chilli Cheese Toast, which tasted very close to the classic flavor we were hoping for, and the Tikki Chaat, which was again nicely seasoned and satisfying. For the main course, we went with Highway Paneer along with Rumali Roti and Garlic Naan, and that combination turned out to be very good. One downside was the wait time for the main course, which took about 45-50 minutes to arrive. That felt quite long and made the service seem a bit slow during our visit. That said, the ambience was lively and stylish, giving the restaurant a great vibe overall. Being a high-end Indian spot close to Times Square, the pricing is definitely on the higher side, which is somewhat expected for the location. Our favorite starters were the Koyla Chicken and Dilli Dilli Tikki. So flavorful. We also loved the Kulafi paneer, literally melts in your mouth! Old monk lamb chops had to have been some of the best lamb chops I've had. Seasoned to perfection and full of flavor. For our mains we followed the recommendations and indulged on chili paratha paired with butter chicken and lalaji ka daal. The daal was so comforting and rich. Punjabi bagh ka saag was phenomenal and took us right back to our roots of familiar Punjabi comfort food. Everyone enjoyed every single cocktail. Overall really convenient location and very flavorful food. Big downside is that they can't really customize to your taste if you want something spicy or mild, etc. which makes me think everything is pre-made already. All the food also came out lukewarm and not hot as it would be if freshly made. Also just like all other good Indian restaurants, this place is expensive as well for the portions they serve. Reservations are required but we were able to walk-in at about 630pm. We got the Onion Seed Naan (asked for crispy, didn't happen), side of Basmati rice (always a shocker that this is not included and costs $8 for a tiny bowl of white rice), Daal Maurya and Highway Paneer (asked both to be spicy and they weren't). His recommendations were excellent, and the food was so solid. We ordered the paneer app and chicken koyla, both of which were incredible. For mains we ordered the goat curry, the branzino (which was apparently an app, but def big enough to be a main), and the cauliflower. All the dishes were solid, I'd say the best main was the cauliflower, the goat and branzino were good and delicious, but my husband thought they were just ok. I write this with mixed thoughts because the food was GREAT, the waiter was friendly, but the hostesses are shockingly rude. Let's start with the good, caveat that the prices are high but they're doing authentic Delhi food: - dal maurya: fantastic and perfectly - baigan: spicy and very smoky - tandoori paneer: mustardy, fresh, and charred - chilli cheese toast: I wish it was bigger! - tandoori burger: I really liked it, my friends said it tasted like an Indian McDonald's burger - kwality channa: channa was great! They originally told us that it'd be a "little wait", when I promoted how long they said about 35 minutes and then turned away. I was pretty annoyed with their lack of care. After we got seated, we asked if they could comp us anything due to the unexpected long wait. They said they'd ask the manager but they never returned to the table, so eventually I just went up to them and asked to which the response was "we don't do that here" with a non chalet shoulder shrug. And then as we're leaving they said "thank you" and I gave them a smile and nodded back as I was in the middle of a conversation with my friend. So they twice more YELLED "thank you" to our backs as we left. For the prices and what this restaurant is trying to do, that's just not expectable. I love the concept of Dilli Dilli, focusing on the classical Mughal flavors of Purani Dilli on one side of the menu, paired with the more modern offerings of Nai Dilli. While the food was on par with what you might get at one of the modern eateries of Mehrauli, the service was as frazzled as the busiest eateries of Dilli 6. We had to flag the wait staff down multiple times for any requests, and everything felt quite chaotic. Came here because I saw it was a new Indian restaurant by a James Beard award winning chef. This place has such a cool concept - the chefs are both from Delhi but are a generation apart in age, so half the menu covers items from "Old Delhi" whereas the other half has "New Delhi" dishes. It works really well! It was cool to try some old school curries as well as new school street food. We had a large group so we ate: chili cheese toast (a fav of mine), biryani, paneer, butter chicken, and royal mutton curry. The drinks were so tasty too- the pani puri margarita is a must have! I loved both the concept and the actual execution of the food. I do think it's a bit of an elevated/fancy place, so the portions can be slightly smaller than what you'd expect at a local spot, but just keep that in mind. Service was great even though the place was packed to the brim, so hats off to the team. I think they even gave us a bit of extra bread for our large group, which was appreciated! We had made reservations for a birthday dinner! We trekked thru busy Times Square to come here after hearing from influencers. While the atmosphere is good as aspected in NYC, the food and service was a huge disappointment. None of the items we ordered stood out to us. It was OK. The chole was mediocre, the tikki was OK, and the pista kofta was too sweet! The dessert we wanted to try was sold out so they recommended kulfi! The first time we got this frozen popsicle we couldn't even cut into it! The manager switched it for another one and it was rubbery and not good. They realized they didn't put a candle for the birthday so the manager brought out another dessert! While the gesture is nice it was overall a disappointing experience.
