A few weeks ago I purchased a Groupon to a salon that shall remain nameless and received one of the…read moreworst haircuts of my life. The woman actually burned a chunk of my hair right off! So, after way too many frustrating bad hair days waiting for it to grow out (and looking like one of the little rascals in the meantime), I finally gave in and called Salon10 yesterday afternoon. They were nice enough to fit me in at the last minute for an appointment with Ted. The whole experience was wonderful. Everyone who works here was so friendly and helpful, including Ted. He listened to what I wanted and made me feel right at ease. I normally feel a bit awkward trying to make conversation with hair stylists, but Ted was so genuine that I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. As for the haircut, I walked out feeling so much better! I will definitely be going back :)

Love. Like the song says "All you need is love..."…read more And I love Ken. Which basically means that all I need in life is Ken. Because Ken does great hair. Sorry, let me rephrase that- Ken is MOTHER F-ING AWESOME at doing hair. I first went to him last October to fix my terribly flat and terribly misbehaving hair. My hair is....schizophrenic would be the best and most favored term. It does the whole "I can't decide between being straight, curly, or wavy" thing. Which means that every morning I usually do the whole "Bitch I'm bunning you" thing. (Bunning=Putting hair in a bun. It also sounds like some sort of sexual perversion.) Ken fixed it. He trimmed it, layered it, did some Ken Magic and everything was wonderful. I held off on reviewing until Haircut # 2. And I'm actually really glad I did. Because if I thought Haircut # 1 was awesome, Haircut # 2 was PURE GENIUS. I decided on a Tuesday that I was sick of my nasty frizz mop for good so I called Ken and booked an appointment for the next day. Walked into the salon, told him I was "Chopping this shit off" and that he could do what he wanted. Which he did (although not without discussing it with me first to make sure I was down). Any man that can make my hair look this FABULOUS deserves...I don't know...a special place in heaven or a mansion in Miami. Or something. He made suggestions, took charge, made sure I was OKAY with the suggestions, took charge some more and a few (okay many) snippity snips later I walked out of the salon feeling like a Sex Goddess (minus the ability to orgasm on command). On the train ride home men kept staring at me (okay it was one man in an empty train car but he was pretty cute albeit a little on the young side). I haven't felt this stunningly fabulous in years and three weeks later I am STILL loving the sex that is my hair. So basically Ken=Love. And we could all use a little more of that.

Full Disclosure: I got highlights here on Sunday off of http://www.salonapprentice.com/…read more I don't normally write reviews for places that I used weird discounts for, however this place was so amazing. I was here on a Sunday afternoon. Taylor did my highlights. Raymond was also doing hair at the same time. All of the other clients that came in while I was there were regulars. Raymond and Taylor were both so nice to everyone. I saw 3 finished haircuts from Raymond while my highlights were processing. The 3 difference woman all had very different hair, but they all looked amazing when they were done. Taylor did a really good job with my hair. The highlights are just what I was looking for (very natural. My hair actually looks a lot like my sister's hair now!) I know that I got a discounted service here, but I was blown away by how nice the salon is, how great the staff is, and how loyal the customers are. All of those things indicate a outstanding salon to me! Oh, and they offer you a drink when you come in! I love places that do that!

I wanted highlights and I wanted them done right. I sought out a good salon with positive reviews…read moreon Yelp and found Hands2Create with 5 stars. I had Jeff do my hair 3 days ago. The pros are that he's a very nice guy, the right amount of talkative and personable, and to some degree he seems to know what he's doing. Regulars filtered in and out of the salon during my two hours there; he is clearly beloved by the people who come to him. I don't know what went wrong with my request. I asked for highlights, but I asked for them not too close to my roots so that I could grow them out cleanly -- sort of like a balayage. I didn't exactly want a balayage, but the general idea that the highlights looked natural without being streaks. When I came home and saw my hair under my own lights and mirror, I cried real life tears. It looks terrible. There is a halo around the top 4 inches of my hair where no highlights exist, about 2 inches of highlights in the middle that go from brassy to blondish, and returns to my natural color on the bottom couple inches. $200 later, and all I got out of it were terrible photos to send my mother and a ruined weekend of figuring out how to fix it before my upcoming event this weekend.

I've never had a stylist that pays as much attention to every detail as Ken does. He recently helped me dye my hair back to its natural dark brown color to cover up an outgrown balayage (done at a different salon) and I couldn't be happier with the results! He gave me a fresh cut with lots of layers and face framing to match. I also love that the salon is smaller than most as I find it a little overstimulating to get my hair done in a loud, packed room. The salon is always clean and tidy as well. If you're looking for a stylist that will make you feel like a million bucks after every appointment, then Ken is your guy!

I've gotten some really awesome bobs in my life but unfortunately this haircut I received at Salon…read moreSen has to go down on the list of "absolutely tragic". When I called to book the appointment I explained to the front desk I needed to be paired with an advanced stylist because my hair is very difficult. I have cowlicks and thick, frizzy texture. I know this but I also know it's possible to get the haircut I want. I was assured that I would be with an "expert" of short haircuts and get what I wanted to achieve. When I sat in her chair for the first time (and last) I told her about the past 10 stylists I went to that butchered my hair and she reassured me she would give me an awesome haircut... NOT. I went to cosmetology school in NYC and worked under a celebrity stylist, I'm not sure what her credentials are but Jfc what a disaster. With all of my cowlicks my hair should have been washed, straightened then cut, not cut wet because my hair lays differently when it's dry and straightened (how I wear it). I also told her that I wanted it symmetrical on all sides so it should have been parted down the middle and crossed checked, not parted on the side while cutting. She then blowdried my hair and cut it again. Again, not using a flat iron when I have thick wavy texture. When I straightened my hair the next day and went through it, it was the most ridiculous haircut I've ever gotten, it made me laugh. The ends were cut in all different directions and in a zigzag pattern, there were long hairs all over the place and the left side was 2 inches longer than right. I had to cut off a bunch of hair to even it out. When I called them back to see if she correct this atrocity I was told that she would be able to see me the following week and I would be charged another $75 to "fix" what I did to my hair lmao when I had already paid $100...as if I would give more money to the person that destroyed my hair in the first place?!
