I've gotten some really awesome bobs in my life but unfortunately this haircut I received at Salon Sen has to go down on the list of "absolutely tragic". When I called to book the appointment I explained to the front desk I needed to be paired with an advanced stylist because my hair is very difficult. I have cowlicks and thick, frizzy texture. I know this but I also know it's possible to get the haircut I want. I was assured that I would be with an "expert" of short haircuts and get what I wanted to achieve. When I sat in her chair for the first time (and last) I told her about the past 10 stylists I went to that butchered my hair and she reassured me she would give me an awesome haircut... NOT. I went to cosmetology school in NYC and worked under a celebrity stylist, I'm not sure what her credentials are but Jfc what a disaster. With all of my cowlicks my hair should have been washed, straightened then cut, not cut wet because my hair lays differently when it's dry and straightened (how I wear it). I also told her that I wanted it symmetrical on all sides so it should have been parted down the middle and crossed checked, not parted on the side while cutting. She then blowdried my hair and cut it again. Again, not using a flat iron when I have thick wavy texture. When I straightened my hair the next day and went through it, it was the most ridiculous haircut I've ever gotten, it made me laugh. The ends were cut in all different directions and in a zigzag pattern, there were long hairs all over the place and the left side was 2 inches longer than right. I had to cut off a bunch of hair to even it out. When I called them back to see if she correct this atrocity I was told that she would be able to see me the following week and I would be charged another $75 to "fix" what I did to my hair lmao when I had already paid $100...as if I would give more money to the person that destroyed my hair in the first place?! It took me two hours but I was able to give myself the haircut I wanted, no thanks to Salon Sen. Bad experience, won't return and I don't recommend. read more

Went in wanting a dark chocolate brown, and my hair looks almost exactly the same as before, just with less money in my pocket. My ends are golden and my roots are extremely warm. Not naming names, but lesson learned: sometimes it's worth paying more to go somewhere that actually knows how to formulate color. Extremely disappointed. read more

I had an appt with Alysse in Nov. I think she was new and VERY inexperienced. She cut my hair unevenly and when I challenged her about the length she became very defensive. I told her to cut my bangs at the middle of my brow. She cut my bangs 1/2" from my hairline. Im now 4 weeks into growing my bangs and its a nightmare. Do not frequent this salon. read more

I'm incredibly disappointed with my recent visit. I've been a loyal client of this salon for years and recommended it to many friends, but today's experience was a major letdown. I came in for a bang trim, bringing a photo as a reference, but what I ended up with doesn't resemble it at all. The bangs are cut way too far back, and they don't blend naturally into the rest of my hair like I asked. This is easily the worst haircut I've had read more

I have been going to Salon Sen for a number of years and I have never been disappointed. Alex has been cutting my hair and he is excellent. I have baby fine hair and if it is not cut correctly it just hangs limply. My hair looks great. I love the little extras like the scalp and hand massage. I feel so pampered! read more

I went here a year ago and got the best haircut of my life from Paige. I moved out of the area for a year, and the second I moved back to Chicago I booked a haircut with her again. This time the haircut was better than before which I didn't even know was possible. The staff is all amazing as well, as they make you feel so welcomed upon arrival. If you're looking to get the best layers of your life though, please book a haircut with Paige. read more

Wonderful experience and hair cut. As someone with curly thick hair I am always super nervous about getting my hair cut. Ronnie however dod an excellent job and made sure she did exactly what I wanted all along the way. I got a gloss as well to help moisturize my hair in this cold wheater and it helped so much. My hair went from dead and dry to feeling healthy again. Ronnie constantly checked in with me about how I like my hair and even had me show her pictures of other hair that I liked and wanted mine to look like. I was also treated to a scalp massage and hand massage wi the the treatments. Overall, my hair turned out amazing and styled quite well. My only question/concern is I was charged for extra cutting time, which I was not aware of up until i paid. read more

Literally was searching for a salon nearby my apartment and I found this one with great reviews. Decided to let Lauren take care of my messy hair and she did a great great job! I've never have a bob cut before and Lauren made sure from time to time that this is the length I'm okay with. The salon was clean and all staff are very professional and friendly at the same time. I would definitely come back for more haircuts and balayage!! read more

Today was my first time going to Salon SEN after seeing it in my neighborhood since I moved in 2017. I scheduled with Alex and my first experience was wonderful. Alex offered the most in-depth hair consultation, and I knew then he was passionate about what he was doing. They are extremely clean and sanitize each station between uses. I would highly suggest this salon, especially Alex! read more

I love coming to Salon Sen! Everyone is so friendly and kind, and the space is aesthetically pleasing. Hayley is a gem! She not only is incredibly talented, but is a joy to interact with. The color she did on my hair is amazing, and I am so pleased with the outcome! She really listened to what I wanted and used her knowledge and expertise to make it even better. She previously cut my wavy, thick hair, and the cut has maintained beautifully. I have definitely found my new stylist! Also, Sam blow dried my hair for the second time and he is fantastic. He gave me a beautiful style that will last. He is also so kind and fun to talk to, making the time to blow dry all my thick hair go so fast. I will definitely be back, and I look forward to it! read more

A1 since day one. Now you must be prepared to wait a bit after your reservation but they take great care of me everytime I'm here. They have all the dynamics that work, great lighting, good background music, even a beautiful atmosphere but the most important part is when I leave I feel and look 10x better. Keep doing what you are doing because you guys do it so well... read more

David did my haircut, he is professional and meticulous on his work. Also Alex who shampooed my hair, I feel like I was in heaven. Service is amazing for $50 haircut, will definitely come back again read more

Very happy with Salon Sen. Aside from great cut and color from Lauren, I like that they run on time, are open til 9pm certain nights, salon is clean & spacious, they don't push products on you, and I'm always able to find street parking (even though I think they have parking in the garage). read more

Chaz is SPECTACULAR! His cut and color are true artistry! He transformed the COVID induced mop of terror my hair had become into a radiant, chic style. I've truly never had color this great. I went with my friend to Salon SEN and both worked with David. He was gentle and super friendly. But most important of all, he really listened to our vision while providing excellent feedback. I'm more of an introvert but not once did he make me feel uncomfortable or the need to talk. My hair looked and felt the best that it ever did! I wished that I had found this place earlier! read more

I went to Lauren on Saturday, she was great. I wanted to get my hair lightened. She gave me great advice and I love the color. I also got a cut which I think is great. I've naturally very curly hair, which she took into account. I'm delighted I found this place. read more

Ronnie & Chaz - you are both amazing! This was my second time at Salon SEN (had Chaz the first time and Ronnie the second) and I left feeling so great. It's hard to find places where the stylists truly take in what you want and what your style is and Ronnie/Chaz did it. The staff was phenomenal and I appreciated not being pressured to buy products. Yes, it's a business, but it's also a place where the customer truly comes first. Thank you for the great experience and treating me like a friend! read more

Picture it. Chicago. Summer 2018. My hair stylist of 10 years moved out of state. My hair is my glory and I am so particular as to who gets near my dome. Hoping to find my next stylist, I booked a haircut at an upscale Lakeview salon...let's call it...Jobert Roffrey. That experience did not...go well. The stylist...I don't know what was going on with her but she totally butchered my hair and I actually asked to her to stop cutting my hair. It was that bad. As I ran out of that salon with my hands covering my head because the haircut was just so horrible and I looked crazy. as. hell, I needed someone to attempt to salvage my hair. Salon SEN had just recently opened near my home and I walked in. I was greeted by 2 gals behind the desk and then I burst into tears. I uncovered my head to show them the hack job I just got. Can anybody fix this?!?! I said through tears. My salvation came in the form of Salon SEN stylist, Ronnie Prince. Ronnie looked at my hair and said- I can help you. She took me back and gave me a scalp massage to calm down, gave me a little shoulder rub- and did what I thought was impossible- she salvaged the worst haircut of my life. No one other than Ronnie has touched my hair since. She now cuts my mom's hair, and I just referred a close friend to her and he said how wonderful she was. Ronnie is a total professional, listens to her clients, is current on hair trends, and is just an all around delight. Can't recommend Salon Sen or Ronnie enough! read more

Just had a perfect afternoon being pampered at Salon SEN yesterday. The professional and friendly staff made me feel very welcome and Chaz is a masterful stylist! He completely transformed my very dry mass of thick hair and left me with gorgeous texture, beautiful color and shine, and one of the best cuts I have ever had. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

Had surgery and needed a hair wash and blow dry. The girl who did it was on her phone for the first ten minutes of my arrival but I will say, she was great once we got started. Gave a lovely scalp massage and hand massage as well. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars compared to 5 is that it was pretty pricey for a simple blow dry and the people at front desk not (and girl who did my hair) seeming a bit distracted to get me started. read more

Julie was my stylist at her previous salon and I was so excited to hear that she opened her own spot. The space is beautiful - clean, airy, open. Great Aveda product and extra touches during haircuts like a hot towel and hand massage! The greatest thing about Salon Sen is Julie. She is the best at dealing with my thick, course, wild hair. She listens to what I need and executes every time! I love my hair when I walk out of the salon but also love it five weeks later when I'm styling it at home myself! Get your haircut here, people! read more

Newer to the area and the salon is really close to my place so I went to Maddy today for a haircut and she was great! Just did some length off with layers but she took her time to do a nice scalp massage and wash. She was quick but not rushed and very thorough. Did a nice blow dry and went back through to do some finishing touches. Super reasonable price. Glad I found her close by! read more

Great new Salon. My stylist Audrey is fantastic, my mother's stylist Lauren is also great. The salon is clean, well ventilated(scents and chemicals often bother my mother in salons, so she particularly noted how great it was at salon sen). I'm always greeted very warmly and offered a drink while I wait. I have long hair, and have no idea what to do with it, so I rely on Audrey to tell me what would look best for me, and always leave happy with the hair cut she give me. read more
