I recently left another, shall-not-be-named Aveda salon on the Southport Corridor, because of ridiculous staff turnover (which is probably due to long hours and overworked stylists), and I am THRILLED with this new Aveda salon. The first time client coupon is great, the facility is modern and amazing, and the Aveda perks (hand massage during the hot towel deep conditioning and the TEA) are on par with any Aveda salon you visit. Their hours seem great for anyone working there, and I hope they maintain this. I took a risk in a haircut with Anna and she did not disappoint. Noticed this salon when it opened up in my neighborhood and decided to give it a try. First I had a haircut with Ronnie - she did a great job and was very personable. I decided after my great haircut experience to take the plunge and trust someone new with my highlights - I had been following my previous colorist around the city for the past 10 years. I had partial highlights done with Collin and he did an amazing job! I highly recommend Collin for highlights. Salon Sen is a true Aveda salon which is nice - super modern, clean and a cool vibe, and they use only Aveda products. I've been to many salons over the years and there's something about Aveda salons that I love, it just feels more pampering somehow and their products are great. The salon tech didn't have the beauty supplies to do my eye make up properly for my birthday. I ended up going home disappointed and doing my makeup myself. I did pay her $30 which was the fee and gave her a $10 tip Anyway because it's the right thing to do but yes I was not happy I had to complete my makeup on my own on my BIRTHDAY! My regular salon was booked out two weeks, but luckily, I was able to get a last minute appointment for a much needed haircut at Salon Sen. My stylist was Ronnie and my experience could not have been better. She listened carefully, asked many questions and methodically took my scraggily blow dryer straightened, shoulder length hair with 3+ inches of grey regrowth and transformed it into a really cute pixie undercut. Ronnie took the time to show me all the ways I could style it and even made some suggestions regarding make-up and accessorizing for my new look. I am transformed and I love it! The atmosphere of the salon was comfortable and relaxed, but professional. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Also, as part of the service I received a head and hand massage as well as information regarding the appropriate Aveda products used. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I have since recommended this salon and particularly this stylist to some of my friends. Going forward Salon Sen will be my friendly neighborhood salon. read more

The salon was super nice inside and I believe the owner checked me in who was very friendly as well. As far as my hair goes, I would never recommend this place to anyone. Chaz did my hair and rushed through the highlights and was rude throughout the appointment. I asked for platinum blonde and ended up with a dishwater hair color. He even mentioned at the end that it turned out beige but did not offer any sort of discount. I will not be returning. read more

I think this may be my first time ever writing a review but feel like my experience today warrants one. I'm a full time grad student and I don't have a lot of money to spend on a haircut so when I called to schedule a haircut, I requested to be scheduled with the cheapest stylist (I had seen online that it would be $50). I had a mix-up with dates and thought that my appointment was today, May 10th but it turned out it was next Tuesday, May 17th. When I came in a week early by accident, they very kindly offered to try to squeeze me in. To do so, they asked me if I would be willing to see someone else. I agreed as long as it was the same price (thinking it would be $50), which they said was fine. However, it seems the scheduler had mistakenly scheduled me for a stylist that cost $85 instead of the $50 stylist I had requested for my original appointment. I ended up getting my haircut by the owner, Julie. She was really nice and the haircut turned out great! I am so appreciative that Julie was able to squeeze me in today but am frustrated that the scheduler's error ended up costing me a significant amount of money. Since the haircut itself was nice, I would consider going to this salon again but would want to make sure to triple confirm that I am scheduling with a person within my price range. read more

My hair is done so perfectly!! It loos like their hand is doing something magical whever I go here. This was a wonderful experience and I am always amazed by their work. My stylist today is a very friendly staff. She's a fantastic artist. I was a little apprehensive about making a change, but she offered me several options that put my mind at ease. I'm overjoyed with how my highlights turned out so lovely. This salon always give me a good quality service, they offer their very best that's why many customer are so satisfied with their service. And in addition, I love how artistic or creative their staffs are. Annalisa is amazing! I went in last night after having a bad experience in a different salon (where my hair turned orange-ish) and she completely saved me. She was knowledgeable, confident, so nice to be around and easy to talk to. I had a lot of different ideas/ directions to go in to fix my hair and she was able to wrangle my thoughts and find a great solution. I will definitely be going back. She has done my cut and color throughout multiple styles and trends. I'm always impressed at how well she really knows exactly what will make me happy. As the salon was new in the neighborhood, I went in for a test run after receiving a postcard promotion. Was not disappointed! Anna did both my cut / color and she couldn't have been more easy to work with. Matched the tone expertly, pulled the gloss thru for some extra shine and a perfect trim (not too much, not too little - growing this bob is taking FOREVER). The shop itself is new, modern, very clean with a "new salon" smell lol. What's not to like? Huge plus: I had booked the $40 special for cut with deep conditioning originally and when I called back to add the color appointment, the owner Alex said I could add the introductory color special as well. What? As in both awesome deals...not one or the other? It's refreshing to encounter a business who obviously understands customer service and clearly wants happy clients. When I am ready to commit, I will seriously consider making this my home salon. read more
