Clean, good service, good food. All the entrees we tried were good. I recommend the bruschetta for an appetizer. The breadsticks are okay, not the best.

The food was amazing, the service was on point, all while being busy!! Nice environment and will definitely be back!

The craft beer selection is just as strong, with plenty of great options on rotation. What really sets this place apart is how much they care about their community and their staff. They actively encourage their own employees to create original cocktails and even feature those drinks right on the menu next to the bartender's name. It's a small touch that shows how much they value the people who work there, and it keeps the cocktail list fresh and personal. They've also done a fantastic job expanding people's palates when it comes to tequila. Whether you're a longtime fan or someone who's just starting to explore it, they make it approachable and exciting. I'll always recommend Blue Door to anyone looking for a great beverage. And if you're not drinking or taking a break, don't skip them. Ask about their mocktails. The lineup is just as thoughtful and impressive as everything else they do. Truly a place that loves its community and its people. Highly recommend.

The reason it missed the 5-star mark with me was our waitress was slow to do everything. Even with taking our drink order. Then our food order. The worst was waiting for my final bill. And then she forgot our takeout box for my youngest. I don't know why she didn't have a greater sense of responsiveness with our party of 3, but it was like this the entire duration of our meal on July 25, 2026. It was super frustrating! The other reason I knocked off a star off was because the towel dispenser was depleted in the lone restroom. I had to flag down an employee with drenched hands. THE PROS I called about 20 minutes ahead of time to reserve a table because I knew this brassiere was on the small side. The lady on the phone was courteous and professional. If you have a hot date, I highly recommend reservations particularly in the evening. This seems like that sort of place. When we arrived, I found free street parking a short walk away. We were promptly greeted and seated. To enter the restaurant, you must go inside the Frost Bank tower's lobby, but to exit there is a door just beyond the bar. This place has beautiful, eclectic decor. The bar area was somewhat rounded and has an easygoing, but classy feel to it. THE FOOD The ambiance is what made this a great mother/daughters brunch date. The food sets it apart from the majority of restaurants in this oil industry town. The have East Coast-sourced oysters on the menu! These are far superior to their West Coast counterparts. I would have opted for these for our app if it weren't for my minions, I mean children. Pigs in a Blanket ($15.00) - yet another appetizer my daughters pigged out on that I didn't get to try. And they said they weren't that hungry! Lies all lies. They looked divine with nicely cooked juicy sausage and everything seasoning on the pastries. Avo Toast ($11.50) - my newly-turned teen daughter and I both had our own. I opted for eggs over easy which were cooked nicely. She oddly chose scrambled eggs for her, but she ate pretty much all of it. Smashed Burger ($17) - my youngest had this and said it was excellent. Nice touch with an American flag planted into the top bun. For the umpteenth time she did not share a fry with me. It is what it is. Mocha latte ($5.00) - my youngest's birthday which I will be missing since she'll be visiting her father is coming up so this was a treat for her. I tried it. Quite good after being thoroughly stirred. 1988 Martini ($18) - pricey but oh so good. The olives stuffed with bleu cheese were not bad. I had to try it even though the thought of bleu cheese kind of turned me off. Lol. Will I return? Of course because I have faith it will be 5 stars next time. Look at the other raving reviews! It has a nice easy-going, small-town Texas feel to it which is hard to describe unless you've lived in a town like this like I have. The inside is typically nice and chill; an ideal environment to grab a cocktail or two and conversate with a date, coworker, group of friends, whatever. Out of all the bars I have been to in Midland, I think Buffalo Nickel has the best selection of whiskey especially. I am not a huge whiskey aficionado but I have heard from ones that this is the place to go. I am more of a tequila and beer guy and they have everything I want. The unique thing about this bar is that the back patio is smoke-friendly. I am guilty of wanting some nicotine after some drinks so this is a great place for me. They also sell cigars if that is your thing. Cheers!

They have a nice selection to grab a couple to smoke on the back patio or to take with you for later. Hubby really enjoy the Crazy Alice, said it was one of the best cigars he's ever had! We sat at the bar and our bartender was very sweet and attentive. Explained the cocktails a bit for us and gave suggestions. The Pumpkin Spiced White Russian caught my eye online so I went with that and hubby had an Old Fashioned. Drinks were spot on so when the bartender said they had a great Espresso Martini I said but of course! It was absolutely delicious!! We highly recommend Buffalo Nickel for a small gathering or date night cocktails.

As for the food, we ordered a few plates since it was our first time. The tostada we ordered was hearty for the price and if you like seafood you can't really go wrong. I'd say it lacked a little flavor but over all it was fine. Same for the oysters topped with shrimp ceviche. The tostada itself was stale and it had a strange flavor. The caldo 7 mares was bomb! Zero complaints there. My little one got the chicken strip meal and it was nice they didn't cheap out like most places with the strips. The ribeye chicharrón was super delicious and the guacamole complimented it perfectly. Salsas were good, drinks were good. My main complaint and the reason for the three stars is the restaurant itself was HOT. It's the summer, either turn it way down or get it serviced ASAP and apologize for the inconvenience. Furthermore, the seafood was room temperature. There's zero reason for it to not be cold. It's seafood. (Obviously not the soup.) It definitely took away from it tasting fresh and it was a little bit of a turn off for me that I had to stop eating it. My husband ate the oysters and the tostada and he agrees it was room temp but that man eats anything and everything. I'd suggest they revisit the seasoning on their ceviche and tostadas, turn down the a/c, and keep things in the fridge. Oh and last thing.. you could tell the veggies weren't fresh anymore. The tomato was translucent.

We ordered the tarre de mar botana fría and the tomahawk steak. Upon finishing our meal, we barely touched it and took everything to go.little did I know the tomahawk steak was $140 and the appetizer was going to give us food poisoning. Needless to say we won't be coming back but we had a great server. The only problem is gratuity is automatically included even for parties of two.
