Me and my boyfriend came to check it out. There's not many Italian restaurant and this is the best that we've had in Midland so far.

Oh My GOSH! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it's taken us so long to try, but we are now life long customers! We will NEVER go to Olive Garden or Fazoli's ever again. Nice atmosphere. Somewhat romantic. Food is below average. Chicken Piccata- dry and bland. I don't believe it was cooked in the sauce. Rather I think it was all precooked and added later. It had grill marks but may have precooked and frozen. The pasta was plain. Cooked well but low quality bulk pasta. The sauce was weak. Little flavor of lemon or even butter. There were literally 9 capers total. The bread was excellent accompanied by a flavorful oil, basalmic, basil, garlic. It made the meal. Service was good. We ordered a large pepperoni and sausage pizza to feed a small hungry bunch at Midland Memorial Hospital. We were celebrating the birth of my first grandchild and gathered in my daughter's post-delivery room. That pizza was absolutely YUM! Huge, with a New York style crust, and loaded with cheese and toppings. I especially liked how the sausage was sliced thin like the pepperoni. My son in law said that Ray's makes the best pizza in town and now I'm a believer. read more

The first time my husband and I tried Ray's was takeout from the new Odessa location, and we loved the food so much that we couldn't wait to go back. So when we had family visiting from out of town, we were excited to take them. Since we were in Midland at the time we decided to go to that location. With that being said, we had a very disappointing experience here this past Saturday. My husband and I were hoping for a nice sit-down dinner before they leave. We were seated and ordered both our drinks and food at the same time. We received our drinks fairly quickly, but that's all we ever got. After waiting over an hour with no food, we started noticing that multiple tables who came in 30-45 minutes after us were being served. We counted at least 10 people who arrived after us and received their meals while we were still waiting. Each time we asked our waitress for an update, we were told "10 more minutes," over and over again. Eventually she gave us the excuse that the ticket machine had stopped working, but that didn't make sense when everyone who came in after us was getting their orders without issue. Come to find out our order got lost, information we got from the host that we had to ask and not our waitress who seemed to be avoiding us by that point. So we asked to just pay for our drinks and leave. They ended up comping the drinks, as they should, but by then it was already later in the evening. Since it kept getting later and we had family with us from out of town, we had to settle for takeout elsewhere instead of the nice sit-down dinner we had planned. We understand that things can go wrong, but being completely overlooked for over an hour with little communication or accountability was extremely frustrating. Sadly, the service alone was enough to ruin the experience for our family. I hope management takes this seriously so this doesn't happen to other customers but after reading the other low reviews it seems that the only thing they're consistent with is horrible service. With that being said we absolutely will not be back/order take out from either location. :) read more

Went here with some co-workers. I love hole in the wall places. This one did not disappoint. I was the only one that had not been there, my co-workers insisted I try the Fillet on the Roc. It was truly a unique experience. They brought out a huge filet on a very hot lava type rock. You then proceed to flip/cut on it and lay slices on this rock to cook it. The meat was excellent quality. There was a brown sauce that came with it. But I preferred it without it. My side was fet Alfredo. I was a little disappointed in it. The bread was awesome. Someone ordered the stiffer avocado which was amazing. The bread was amazing. Others has chicken parm which was reportable great. Another had lobster ravioli and loved it. The waiter was excellent, cheerful, and engaging. For what it's worth / FYI. While I don't drink, others in my group do. This place does not serve alcohol but will allow external drinks. Cozy and quaint ambiance, we've been coming for years. This meal was so good: Chicken Marsala w Fettucine Alfredo was everything. So flavorful, rich, creamy. The food took long to come and the server made a comment "here's your receipt with no tip" and she gave us attitude and made a really ugly face when we only saw her twice. I spoke with manager and she said "yes because they work on tips" that doesn't give u the right to have an attitude and I'm sure she did nothing if u don't like ur pay rate speak with ur boss don't get mad at the customers. Ordered take out pizza for the first time in a while. Went to pick up and wow has this place gone downhill last couple years. Only 4-5 people eating. On a Friday night!! If you're looking for a traditional Italian restaurant this is the place, my husband had the lobster raviolis, and let me just say they were thick and stuffed with lobster meat, the sauce was delicious. The the service here is impeccable, never had to ask for a refill, the restaurant is older decor but very clean, the owner is there working alongside his crew, and you can tell he runs a tight ship, we will definitely be back read more

We ordered online from Oklahoma to get a nice meal delivered to my parents through DoorDash. My parents were a little confused that the food was delivered in what looked like a pizza box but a nice employee on the phone explained that they needed to open the box. They delivered the shrimp stuffed avacado appetizer, chicken parmigiana, spaghetti and meatballs, and salmon with veggies. I had intended for it to last 2 meals but my mom said it all was so good that they ate it fast. She also mentioned the salad greens were higher fresh quality. Not just your iceberg lettuce. We stopped in here while in town visiting family that was in the hospital. The wife was craving Italian and delicious wine, and I just wanted something yummy and a cold beer. Weeeeellll, this joint is BYOB - which we were unaware of. We sat down and our waiter knew we were first timers. He gave us directions to the liquor store and said he would get some water while we were gone. Clearly, my wife and I were not the only ones who have made this mistake. After arriving for the second time, we were welcomed to bread and ice water. He was so kind and brought over a champagne bucket of ice for my redneck beer. I was feeling kind of classy for sure! Stuffed mushrooms got the ball rolling. Heaven. Heaven. Heh-eh-even I tell you. The sauce was incredible!! I loved dipping the bread in it! The wife ordered baked cheese ravioli. She swore it was the best she's ever eaten. I was feeling fat kid vibes. Got myself a cheese pizza (not pictured) and chicken Fettuccine. There wasn't any judgment from that kind waiter when I had him load up my pasta with fresh Parmesan cheese. I wish this place was MUCH closer to us. Went in for my one hour lunch the server kept cleaning tables never helped us asked another server to take our order and we still never got our food a 10 top table got there after us and still got our food before us I ended up having to leave without food bc I had to get back to work. We love rays. We go frequently and we recommend to anyone who comes to town. We ordered a side of marinara for our pizza. We got a small side of it and was charged $4!!! This might not seam like a huge deal but we could have almost ordered dessert or another meal. For $4 at least give a decent size. I can see paying $1-2 for a side of marinara. I don't expect free. Came back again on a Saturday because my friends love BYOB, this time I made a reservation for 6. The waitress did preface and say they were short staffed. We didn't care about the wait, we know how it goes in midland. Got bread immediately and the waitress was nice. I got the Ray's mix salad. Presentation was ugly but it tasted good lol What I'm really pissed about is this is the 2nd time I've come and BOTH times my pasta was WAY overdone! This isn't even carbonara? I've had carbonara in Rome and this wasn't even close lol the pancetta was rock hard and the noodles were breaking as I twirled my fork. This place is probs only in business still, because it's BYOB. Are here with my MIL last weekend. I had the chicken Parmesan with Fettuccine Alfredo. The Alfredo was okay, but the chicken was fantastic! Mom ordered the Philly and she really liked it. The fries were good too. I'm pretty picky about my Italian and I can say this is one place I'll actually go out for. Oh! And to top it off, the service was fantastic. I am a former server with a years' experience at Rays. Many people may recognize my name on here. I can honestly say the food is wonderful, so if you do not care about morals or anything beyond the taste of the food, you can stop reading now. I quit Rays New Years Eve of 2021 because Ray himself (the owner of the restaurant) asked that I stop writing "God Bless You." on my credit card slips that I gave back to customers after their meal. Keep in mind, Ray had seen me do this for the prior 10 months without incident, or even a word said. Nevertheless, I quit on the spot. The whole experience left me with a very bad taste in my mouth because I had grown to respect this man, and he seemingly turned on me in an instant. I felt singled out because of my faith, and this was all in front of the entire staff. Since that time, I have eaten at Rays a handful of times until the last and final incident. I came into the restaurant during the slow time around 3:00 in the afternoon with my girlfriend. We had a wonderful meal, and on the way out she ran into some friends at another table. Ray was standing by the door and motioned for me to join him. He then proceeded to politely ask that I do not come into the restaurant and eat there anymore. He essential blacklisted me from coming back for no reason other than he does not like me, or my faith, or both. I cannot stress that over the course of my time working there, I was an outstanding employee and respected by the other staff. I enjoyed coming in from time to time after I quit, just to eat and see some old faces. When Ray asked that I stop coming to eat there, I was genuinely speechless. It has taken me some time to reflect, and I even considered not writing this; However, I feel morally obligated to share my experience with the man behind the restaurant. So, with all that said... I got the spinach ravioli and my husband got the veal Marsala and both entrees were delicious. We stopped here for a meal before leaving Midland, so we didn't get to try many of their plates. I can conclude that the servings were good portion sizes. From what we had I wouldn't say the food was remarkable or memorable, but it was alright. We really enjoyed their bread though. The food came out hot and fresh. The service was a bit slow, but it didn't ruin the experience. From the outside the restaurant doesn't appear to be anything great, but once you open the door it was a completely different atmosphere. A good thing to know before coming is that it's BYOB, so if you're wanting a drink with your meal then you'll have to bring in your own alcohol. I'd give them a 3.5 overall if I could. read more

My fiancé and I got a gift card here for Christmas. Thank goodness we didn't pay for this meal out of our own pocket besides $10. - we received our meal like this. Sauce everywhere. - our salads soggy and had like green juice flowing from it. -pizza and mozzarella sticks were cold. -we waited 45 minutes to pick up our Togo order. -our Hawaiian pizza didn't even contain pineapple. Majorly disappointed because they weren't even following Covid protocols. This place was so packed it was waaaaaay over 50%.
