It's very tempting to call what Kira does magic, but that would be selling her work short. What she…read moreprovides is a very structured, compassionate approach to dealing with deep-seated issues that aren't easily managed using adult logic. I'd been struggling with aversion that felt irrational. Our first session was game-changing. Hypnotherapy is not different from other therapy I've done, and it dovetailed nicely with my meditation and yoga mindfulness practice. It involved entering a deep state of relaxation and accessing my subconscious to achieve an understanding of the cause of my aversion and provide alternative behaviors. I remembered everything about my sessions and though my session was emotional I left feeling truly refreshed. A second "tune-up" session helped me sort out a few related issues. And the use of a reminder object has become an everyday reminder of my progress. Kira has a calm, encouraging manner. I felt welcomed and understood at every turn: having her was like having a coach who could see the big picture AND a fan wanting to see me succeed. Highly recommended for those long-term "unsolvable" or "irrational" issues that crop up and interfere with the day to day.

For privacy reasons, I won't mention the reasons for my seeing her, but I will say I had been feeling "stuck" in my life and other methods of therapy weren't working, so I thought "might as well." She is the first and only hypnotherapist that I have seen, and I found her to be very effective in our work together. Her website is helpful in listing some things she treats- from anxiety to anger to hypnobirthing classes. I began by shooting her an email and discussing what I wanted to work on to make sure she was the right fit. I recommend reaching out sooner rather than later, as she fills up quickly. I had about a 4 wk wait to see her for my first time; then she gets you in regularly as needed. The office itself is comfortable and relaxing. There is plenty of street parking right out front. Kira is always prompt and professional, which I greatly appreciate. I would describe her style as warm, friendly, and caring. She has a calming voice, which I assume is pertinent to the profession. She is also direct and helpful, and she offers tools and recordings to utilize outside of session. I have found them to be useful. But again, it will depend on your reasons for seeing her, as I assume these things vary. Most importantly for me, I leave every session feeling like I learned something new about myself. That is a MUST for me in my journey. I found her prices to be competitive with others. The only downside to hypnotherapy is that insurance doesn't cover it. But on the bright side, you only go in for a few sessions so you're spending less in the long run. I think it's worth the investment. No doubt, Kira deserves 5 stars. I appreciate all of her help and hope everyone else has an equally positive experience with her.

It's been about five years since I had a session with Laura, and I look back at that time in my…read morelife and the support she provided with sincere gratitude. I saw Laura for about two years. She gently guided me through overcoming a belief system that no longer served me and assisted me with my own deep inner-personal growth. If you're open to doing work that will sometimes be uncomfortable and/or need someone who will gently challenge you, Laura is likely a good fit. Laura, if you read this, thank you. I'm in such a better place today. I will always appreciate what you did for me.

The beauty of therapy is that we can see different kinds of therapists. She was not the type for…read moreme, but she might be for you! Laura fell asleep in several of our meetings. It was awkward because she would apologize to me at the next meeting saying she had fallen asleep on another client... etc etc... it felt like some sort of gaslighting like she was apologizing because she knew it was me, but didn't want to admit it. I wanted to talk about my past traumas and what I had experienced. How can she help me if she has no idea what has happened to me? Most of her sessions were guided by her (she speaks 80% of the time), but did not allow me to speak very much. I never really felt like I could express myself and I think for her, that wasn't the point. Like I said, this might work for you, but it didn't work for me. I always felt like she didn't care to hear me... and I don't just mean my story, but I felt like she didn't care to "hear" me and really hear my feelings, who I am and how I have come to be. I always believed she just talked so that she didn't fall asleep... I really needed to talk about the trauma I had experienced and how I felt scared. Did I need to call the police? Will this partner hurt other people? How scared should I be? Should I move? Should I change my locks? This was not an option with her... with her often saying "you're not ready" and refusing to move on to new subjects/asking me to pay more money for more sessions when she knew I didn't have it. When I talked too much about my experience she would would tune me out. I was never able to talk about how my partner talked about killing me and how I felt scared. I could never talk about the numerous threats that happened, she didn't want to hear this. She is the kind of person where you could walk in and say "I am a gay" and she would never want to hear your story, she'd never want to know about your traumas, never hear what has hurt you, never hear about your family/friends/relationships, she just wants to say ok, moving forward this is what I want you to do... Her guidance is largely spiritually based on her own beliefs... there is no room for you to talk, only feel. When I told her I could not pay weekly because I couldn't afford it, she said "I have bills too" and told me I had to come in anyway. She wasn't even willing to see me every other week. She also had no problem telling me what my weaknesses were. Most sessions were spent with her explaining why particular things in my life had happened to me and that most of them were my fault. There is no space for empathy here... if you want to talk about your story and have someone say I'm sorry this happened, this is how you move on... this is not the person. Laura is more... I don't care what happened and if you tell me I'm going to tell you why it's your fault and then we'll move on in the way that makes sense to me and maybe not to you.. If you want someone who will assume you've had some kind of trauma and just moves passed it without allowing you to talk about it, she is the one for you.

Nope. I do not recommend this therapist. She made a lot of assumptions, interrupted instead of…read morelistening, and made up her mind on how things should go rather than being open to other ideas. I was in marriage counseling, and she requested to see my husband and I separately and then essentially pit the two of us against each other. She made assumptions about my weight and body type and brought them up (unprompted!) in our session. Keep in mind, this was virtual therapy, and all she could see was my face. Nevertheless, that is so incredibly inappropriate. I looked into reporting her to her certifying body, but (not surprisingly) none of this information (you know...her qualifications) could be found on her website, which was unbelievably out-of-date and no longer had accurate information. Most of the sessions were her talking AT me/us (my husband and I), not listening. She came across as incredibly unprepared and didn't remember what was discussed in previous sessions. Every session seemed like a re-hash of the same stuff because she couldn't bother to review her notes beforehand. I basically cancelled all appointments and ghosted her. She is manipulative, unprofessional and did not not care about me - that's for sure. One more thing that I feel is relevant, though not the reason for my negative review: she does not live in WA state. If you found her via a search engine and are hoping for in person therapy, you will not get it.

So this review is factoring in my observations of her accuracy and how she's shown up when I've met with her over the course of the year. I've also kept notes from her readings and as I reflect on what she's shared with me, most of what she's read for me has been pretty accurate and consistent. It's actually quite chilling as I look back on my notes. Above all else though, she's incredibly caring and kind. She upholds a high standard of professionalism and is pretty amazing as a person. She's thoughtful, nonjudgmental, and a very powerful reader/clairvoyant. I'm now moving on to the next chapter of my life and am thankful I was able to check in with her time to time to find encouragement and hope. Thank you Darleen, you rock!

It has been a while since my reading, but I just remembered how "off" my experience was and felt…read morethe need to leave an honest review. I came in for a tarot reading. I was in the middle of a complicated relationship situation and really wanted some guidance on my love life. I was prepared to explain all this at the outset; I don't actually require magic from a tarot reader, just curiosity, and I find that having full context prior to a reading really informs the reading itself. However, this practitioner did not ask me a single question before she started laying many cards out on the table in a quick, automatic fashion. She jumped right into making predictions for my future--"career change in September," etc.---and asking me about things in my past -- "did something with your Dad happen in July?" that 1) I was not looking for, and 2) were simply not accurate, at least the questions she was asking about past events. At one point I even started feeling bad and looking for ways to make her past predictions correct, even though they were so off-base, because it was very awkward to keep telling her "no, not really." When I got curious and asked about some of the cards, she acted offended. I felt annoyed by that and I never got a deep read on any of the cards she pulled. Halfway through the "tarot reading" I booked, she seemed to get bored with the cards and switched to astrology. This annoyed me because I am really not an astrology person. I don't have my birth chart memorized and didn't know my time of birth off the top of my head. She proceeded to read my astrological chart anyway (which must have been inaccurate). She also had me "guesstimate" the birth time and birth place of the person I was in a relationship with. Based on this, she told me that our relationship existed in a "dead zone" and was destined to never go anywhere. I felt this was a totally inappropriate prediction to make on the basis of incomplete information (lacking birth times for both of us, and a birth place for one of us). In short, I am a pretty open-minded person but this experience was honestly quite bizarre. I would call it a total waste of money except that I got an interesting story out of it. It also clarified my interest in tarot. I am not interested in a fortune-telling approach to tarot, I am much more interested in using it as a tool for psychological introspection. If you feel the same, find a friend or acquaintance to read your tarot, not this service.

I paid Kristin $375 for one session (I paid by check so got the discount as she charges even higher rates if you use a credit card). I asked her if hypnotherapy could make me worse and she said "no." If she truly believes that hypnotherapy always helps everyone I don't think she understands what she's doing. She totally messed me up, like I couldn't talk for days or get out of bed and then when I asked her to reverse whatever she did to me she told me if I didn't like her to find another hypnotherapist and not to contact her again. I filed a complaint with the BBB asking Kristin to tell John Connelly what she did to me so he can reverse it. When I contacted John Connelly about what Kristin did to me they told me they reverse what hypnotherapists do "all the time". Unfortunately Kristin never responded to my BBB complaint. I posted a review on the My Mind Talk Facebook page about my experience, Kristin called the police and told them I was threatening to kill myself (I wasn't). So a cop showed up at my house for the first time in my life because either Kristin was so upset over the review she tried to throw me in a mental hospital as punishment for writing it or she was so concerned about me that she seriously thought I would kill myself from what she did to me, but not concerned enough to reverse what she did to me that created this problem. A few weeks later Kristin figured out how to remove the review plugin from her Facebook page so the review no longer appears. In my entire life I've never had the cops show up at my house or had someone tell me not to contact them again until I met Kristin.
