This was the third year our guild has chosen to have the retreat here and we are coming back again next year. Dates are booked. Beautiful views of the lake. Cabin like accommodations where we were. The food at the dining room was amazingly good. Perfectly seasoned and gourmet ingredients. They don't skimp on food quality. The staff were all extremely nice and very helpful. I have only good things to say about my experience.

Casowasco is the former summer estate of the Theodore Case family. The property then included 73 acres of land, much of it wooded. It also included a mile of shoreline, a freshwater stream, a beautifully landscaped delta on which stood three large residences, a barn, a boathouse, a clay tennis court, and a small single lane bowling alley. A railroad, following the path of the old Auburn to Moravia plank road, ran along the shoreline. There's truly nothing better than a yoga class at Sky and taking in that gorgeous view of the lake, no matter the season. I came to Sky 3 years ago petrified that I'd make a total embarrassment of myself as I had never attempted yoga, but they were so helpful and welcoming that I instantly fell in love with yoga, and despite all of the studios around the country I've now frequented, Sky will always be my favorite and hold a special place in my heart. Their instructors are absolutely amazing; Courtney weaves her passion and love for the business into every thing she does, it's palpable. The community of classmates are always so friendly and warm; it's the closest thing I presently have to my own little community and I always look forward to connecting with them. There's always something new and fresh to look forward to in addition to the perfect weekly schedule which is created to have something for everyone of any skill level. Presently during COVID they have a really great system in place for streaming, special classes and more, though I'll always prefer the in-studio experience (which is open and very clean!) I can't wait until Covid passes and we can go back to the full classes full of love and light, I look forward to the little things they do to make every class special (essential oils, lighting, amazing music). Sky is so incredible that they're worth a special trip to Skaneateles, but especially if you're in the area, on vacation, or on the lake, stop in for a soul-changing experience!

To give some context, I have done intro offers/comped classes at almost every studio in town. Breathe, yoga vibe, M/body, Tru, JCC...I've "yoga'd" it up with very mixed emotions in each experience, and don't get me wrong, many have been great. Then there were other times when thoughts like "my body isn't right for this" and "everyone else here can do this and I just can't do this" alllll the way to "why would anyone do yoga this shit is dumb." After participating in a Yelp event with Danielle, I felt SEEN (via Zoom!) and my body was like OKAY YAS! I signed up for the intro offer IMMEDIATELY and have been enjoying very COVID friendly outdoor classes at their Woodbury street studio. Classes range from 2-5 people max and students are encouraged to do what is right. NOT what is right for the proper/perfect pose, not what looks right...but what feels right. I know this seems super intuitive, but the stress on peace and play has really makes these classes special, not to mention the hour FLIES by. I have yet to take a class from a different instructor, but am looking forward to in the very near future! I highly recommend giving the intro offer a try. I plan on buying 5 class passes after my intro offer to flexibly meet some varying wellness goals. If you are travelling from out of town or a performer at Geva, this is a PERFECT option for catching a workout! Convenient location with danger of overspending at Fuego post-class, as they are located in the same building. YAY Danielle YAY Pele Yoga. They do not sit at the front of the room and instruct rather they interact with you during class helping to position you to go further into your practice and even help with unfamiliar poses. There is a wide variety of classes with something to fit everyone's schedule. The studio is in the heart of downtown and conveniently located next to a coffee shop for a great pre and post hangout. It is a single room studio but they even have a shower in the back. I am so glad to have met Danielle and had the opportunity to join the Pele community. Their intro offer gives you a chance to try all the classes and fully immerse yourself into the space. Don't skip out on this place! ‍

A close friend gave me a gift certificate a number of years ago (2019) and I just got to actually use it 2026). The first attempt at using the gift certificate (2023) didn't go so well, and the employee I spoke with while booking my spa reservation at the time charged my credit card in full for the appointment - not only before I ever had my appointment itself (the credit card is supposed to just go on file to hold the appointment), but knowing that I would be using a gift certificate to cover the entire cost of my appointment. The date/time was also input incorrectly, as was the location (the person made my appointment for the Plymouth, MA location when I has specified the Skaneateles, NY location) and in frustration I ended up canceling entirely. It was quite an annoyance to sort through and I was issued a new gift certificate number via email. That's what I ended up bringing with me to my new appointment. All that said, I still had the new gift certificate number - and $300 to use. My reason for making my most recent appointment was because I had been dealing with neck/shoulder tightness for about a week and a half (at the time of making my appointment) and all I could think was that MAYBE a massage would help loosen some of the tightness. I scheduled a 50 minute signature massage with "Hot Stone Melter Enhancement & Divine Hair & Scalp Ritual". Mind you, I've had plenty of massages that include hot stones... and when I add them on as an enhancement, it's nice if the massage therapist spends more than about 10 seconds using them at a given time. My massage therapist at the time of my appointment was a woman a little older than middle aged. While I imagine she's been a massage therapist for a fairly lengthy period of time, she brought a somewhat nervous energy to our session. I explained what I was looking for out of the massage experience, and then she left the room for me to prepare for the massage. When she returned and the massage session began, it was relatively relaxing... though I wish she'd ultimately have spent more time in the problem areas I had mentioned. I was also disappointed in the amount of time spent using the hot stone enhancement, as well as the hair & scalp ritual (which maaaaaaaaybe lasted 5 seconds after the addition of the hair oil). Ultimately, the session was nice... and I'm sure it loosened up the tightness in my neck/shoulder a bit. It just wasn't what I expected based on the enhancements or what we discussed before my massage began. Everything together (including the 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill and the two chapsticks that I added from the spa check-in/check-out counter) came to about $285. Mirbeau seems expensive for the experience you get. I spent a lot of time around Skaneateles growing up, so I understand that there's a certain population/type of market that makes charging what they do seem perfectly reasonable... but it just seemed like way too much based on comparative experiences I've had. Not the best use of the enhancement options, and I just can't help but think that if Mirbeau was located somewhere else then there's no way they'd get to charge what they do. Basically, I'm glad that I had a gift certificate and didn't have to pay for the experience out of pocket.

My masseuse, Stacy May, was very professional, very dedicated and goes beyond the required service to make it a great experience. They have options with the kind of oil they can use, so I went with the classic: lavender. She asked me if there were any particular areas she should concentrate on and made sure they were given extra attention during the massage. In addition, she made sure it was a full body massage by giving each part enough time to relax your entire body. Although it was a 60 minute massage, she went on for an additional 10 minutes just so I could get the complete experience. We were staying at the inn so it was highly convenient for us to just go back up to our room after the massage to take a shower. I would totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a good massage as I'm sure the place won't fail to impress you.
