I was very pleased to learn that the focus seems to be on human interaction and outdoor activities. I stopped sending my children to another local summer camp when I noticed campers arriving with electronics, coolers full of food, and camp counselors riding around in several golf carts. These aren't the values or lessons I want my children learning from their summer camp experience. The camp director, Maria, made my first time without my children for a week, such a positive experience. I sent four children this summer and one did have a very difficult time with home sickness. Maria was AMAZING with how she handled his difficulties, stayed in touch with me and still encouraged my son. I could not have asked for any better of experience for my children and will definitely be sending my children again, and again, and again!!!!

The staff seemed very accommodating to specific parental requests and most are informative of the daily occurrences. Unfortunately, there were a few happenings throughout the year my daughter attended that brings my rating down. Firstly, management failed to address a staff member that I informed them of being unprofessional. With that, the staff member would flirt and speak inappropriately to my husband, whom she had exchanged phone numbers with - all being behavior that I would say breaches a professionalism manner in all ways. This was brought up several times to management and the staff member remained employed there, even while other parents have had the same issue. Employee meetings were held to review what is and isn't appropriate and the behavior never ended. Secondly, there was an incident where my daughter hit her head. I received a phone call of what happened but the staff was so distraught and were not giving me clear details. They were unaware of the dilation/reaction of her pupils and I was given two different explanations of what actually happened. Once the report was written, there seemed to have been a third explanation on paper on what and how it happened. While my daughter was ok, I had made a precautionary ER visit within minutes of the occurrence as I was unsure of the details of what actually happened - this all made me very uneasy.

The ladies in her room were amazing, they all took the time time to get to know me and my daughter-they always asked how my day was and genuinely seemed to care. My daughter was always happy to go to "school" in the morning, and didn't want to leave at the end of the day. It was so nice to know that I would be leaving my child in the hands of people who really cared about the kids, who were dedicated to making sure they thrived, and who really enjoyed their jobs. The only reason we left Cullman was because we moved, otherwise we would absolutely still be there!

We signed up today, worked out for 30 minutes, then picked up our son to find out on our own once we checked his bag, that he was fed a bottle that was not his. He consumed someone else's breast milk and or formula. We're still waiting on their staff to resolve this issue. If you're a parent, I don't have to explain the concern, frustration and worry that comes along with this. Needless to say this was SO not what we expected from the YMCA. We will not be back. Be careful who you decide to leave your children with.

The staff is very helpful when we have questions about schedules and activities. We take advantage of the child drop off which allows us to workout and gives our kids something to do. They have daily drop off times which is helpful. We also enjoy the pool and hot tub, as well as the ability to go to any other YMCA in the area and use their facilities. It is a great value for our family of 5 and while we have only been members for a month, we look forward to our weekly visits and it has become part of our routine.

My husband and I have been vacationing on different lakes for…read more5 years and this was our first time staying on Kekua and we have decided it is our new favorite. The campground is wide open with a beautiful view of the lake. The grounds are kept immaculate and it is so quite and peaceful even though it's not very private. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked and the host was around even day checking on things. She was wonderful! We loved our stay and our campsite. Can't wait to be back!
