They have wet suits, life jacket, lots of equipment to purchase. When I walked up I was greeted with friendly hellos and bubbly employees. I rented a paddle board for $23 showed my license and filled out the waiver. They gave me my paddle, adjusting it to my height, and instructed me to walk down the sidewalk (literally a stone throw from the building), where there is a small beach and there was the rest of the crew waiting for me. They helped me in the water and explained the territory If where to go and where not to go and off I want. Great time, beautiful lake, just wonderful team of employees.

Staff sprays off everyone's feet so they don't bring in beach debris. The swimming beach is so shallow. My boys walked for the longest time and even when they started to swim, they could still stand if they wanted. Warm, too. Not the softest sand, but the way out into the lake isn't too bad. The way back, it feels a little more prickly. Guess the rocks face away from the beach. Plenty of parking, seating and shade.

Tip: There's a path here which (upon closer examination) is actually an old street that's in a pretty far-gone state of disrepair. Unfortunately, we never made it together, so since I was taking care of some business down in the city, I decided to come up and spend a few days exploring the area. Also today is her birthday, so it made not only this trip, but especially today, extra special.... There are 11 lakes in all each with its own charm. You could easily spend a few days, just exploring one lake or two. I took three days to explore as much of the region as possible, so it gave me a little "taste of the whole thing", so I will remember special places that I can come back to. This welcome center is in the town of Geneva, which is at the very top of Seneca Lake. It's pretty much the middle of the entire finger Lakes region. Geneva, or the town of Watkins Glen, about 45 minutes south of here, at the other end of Seneca Lake, are both great "jumping off spots" for the entire region. This welcome center is beautiful. It sits right next to Seneca Lake, and is a great place to stop and get some information, or even stop and relax for a little while. Just outside the back of the center is the Lake, it's peaceful and has gorgeous views. They even have Adirondack chairs where you can just sit and relax for a little while. They have information about the lakes in the visitor center. There is also a "taste NY" store, which features finger Lakes products. You can get breakfast and lunch items, snacks, bakery items, souvenirs, beer, cider, , and wine. Definitely wine. The finger Lakes is a very large wine region, with between 130 to 150 wineries, the majority of which you can visit. They also have several different designated "wine trails", where you can visit wineries close to each other. (with that many wineries to visit, please make sure you have a designated driver...) This is definitely the right place to stop while you are exploring the region. I enjoyed my visit Thank you.

NOTE: this was…read morenot a rest stop visitor center off the road, but one 6 miles from the thruway....i recommend that the state notate the distance on the highway sign as well as have signage once off the thruway. Why this place doesn't get 5 stars). However, once there it was a beautiful center on gorgeous Seneca Lake. They sell food, drinks, NY state wines, NY state products, etc. There are several brochures ( what I prefer even though I do lots of online research as well), and a tasting counter which is relatively inexpensive ($4). We had a lovely conversation with Don and his wife Marie, who were at an information booth. There is also a cool children's play structure outside. The photos don't do this center justice, but make sure you stop here before you plan anything!!!

Due to irresponsible campers and a string of undesirable incidents that happened over this past summer the campground NY state has transferred to the village of Macedon. It will be a day-use only park. However, we are grateful to be one of the last overnight campers. It really is a wonderful park. The Butterfly trail is beautiful and easy loop. I highly recommend spending the day fishing, boating or pinicing.

Parking is within easy reach of the Canalway Trail--and the walkway over the massive east gate of the New York Canal System's Lock E-30 is pretty cool. The park features potable water, toilets, picnic shelter, grills and a boat launch, which also makes it a great location for no-wake boating, kayaking and canoeing. The remnants of historic Lock 60, built in the 1860's, is linked to this park by trails beautified and maintained by the local Butterfly Nature Trail Volunteers group. Informal tent campsites are available for bikers-hikers-boaters, and convenience stores, restaurants and other amenities are located nearby in the Village of Macedon.

Most of this campground is occupied by long term residents. They have just opened a new section, section P, that is where we are camped. It's quiet but I have a few issues. One, there are NO trees in this field we are camped in. No shade means our air conditioner runs NON STOP. Also the grading over here is terrible. There are low spots all over the place and you really have to watch where you are going so you don't break an ankle. Another is the mosquitos! OMG they are awful!!!! There are two stagnant ponds in this campground and they are both contributing to the overwhelming amount of blood suckers! They seriously need Mosquito Joes out here ASAP and they need to add fountains to the stagnant ponds to keep the water moving. We used the large, clean laundry room and at a $1.50 a load I almost wished I'd have had more laundry hahaha! We used the game room while doing our laundry. Pool tables, air hockey, etc.. They have a small store at the registration office with lots of goodies and essentials. More signage is needed to direct you to the campground office. GPS had us at a house at the beginning of the road and we were really afraid we were in the wrong place and wouldn't be able to turn around while pulling our Jeep. Luckily we found it. There's a large playground here for the kiddos and they have lots of different weekly activities for residents and guests. They also have a boat ramp and marina on Cross Lake. Overall we had a nice stay but I wouldn't stay in the new section again in the summer. Bring your bug spray!!!

We were looking for something to do not too far from Syracuse. We ended up in Seneca Falls at a…read morebeautiful, well maintained sculpture trail that is on the banks of the Seneca River. It was a sunny day with a few intermittent, light showers. There was enough tree coverage to keep us dry. This trail has a very nice historic background and each sculpture has a plaque. Some went into detailed descriptions which we both loved and appreciated. My favorites were the native American Clan sculptures. We were walking down the path and thought this last picture was the next sculpture.....but it was a real deer, a young one. We figured it's mother was nearby so we didn't disturb it.
