The northern beach and rim of this finger lake has been carved into a long thin park where you can touch the beach and water, ride bikes or run the paths near the water. A lot of picnic and playgrounds for the kids including a very fun mini zipline like ride. Parking is along the side of the road in most areas or in the parking lot areas near the welcome or visitor center. A lot of geese and duck in the waters, and a marina off to the east side of the park for those who have boats. New York park pass works here, or $8 for visitors.

Near the pier area looking at Seneca Lake.

Picturesque and easy to navigate, at least in the area where we were. The main entrance is at the center of the head of the lake. It's manned, and there's a $7 parking fee. The guy on post told us if we parked in a little lot outside the gate, we could walk in without paying. But we opted to go to the Visitors Center nearby and park our Tesla at a charging space there. There is a well paved biking and walking path and the lake is lined with rows of willow trees and benches. Plenty of families biking and people jogging/walking/strolling. Would be a great place for a picnic-bring your own basket and blanket.

Beautiful well-maintained facilities. Cute cafe and information center with a lovely outdoor seating area where you can enjoy a bite and a glass of wine with a gorgeous view of the lake from the northern end.

I moved out West 10yrs ago and have not been back to visit in 8 yrs. Seneca Lake was alway a place we enjoyed every summer. I was really looking forward to seeing what new additions had been made to the beach area and was blown away at how many new play areas there are. When I left the only thing there was a small playground area and the spray pad had just opened. When I lived there the beach was usually filled with dead fish and algae so it wasn't very pleasant. I was blown away at the changes that have been made. The new playground is awesome and I felt safe allowing my Grandchildren to just jump from one jungle gym to another without the worry of sharp edges or splinters. The play areas are shade covered, smooth surfaces and the ground covering was clean and a soft landing if one of the kids were to fall. The spray park was open but it was still a little cold for them to be in it but it was clean, fenced and it looked larger than I remembered. The picnic pavilions looked freshly painted and they have added a lot more picnic tables for parents to just sit and watch their kids play or have lunch. We walked down to the beach area and it was free of dead fish and algae and we actually waded around and the kids played in the sand. It was a beautiful relaxing and forever memorable day watching my Grandchildren play and make memories without worry.

Cool bird house by the jetty.

This park is an excellent place to go for a long walk, bike ride, picnic, BBQ, swim, sit on the beach, kayak, etc. You can take the kids to a cool playground/SPRAYground (100 water jets that spray water to cool you off). It costs $7.00 per car load to enter the park** (see below for an alternative). Dogs are permitted on a leash. This park has picnic shelters for rent. It also has two boat marinas. The main entrance is kind of in the middle of the park. My review is based upon going for a long walk then having a picnic afterwards. If you are walking/jogging, you will decide if you want to make a left or a right. If memory serves me correctly, the walk was ~6 miles total (non-loop). Take a right: The walkway runs along side of the lake, what a view! We had a constant breeze coming off the water. You can walk on the tree-lined grass or on the pavement. Then, the walkway turns into a "boardwalk" where you will find a fishing area & a jetty. The sights/sounds of the seagulls reminded me of the shore. ** At this end of the park you will find a playground next to the Ramada hotel (btw, looks like a nice hotel) where you can park for free. Take a left: Same view of the lake but this end of the park will take you toward the SPRAYpark and marina. We noticed that this marina had a lagoon that goes under an old train bridge (man, I would love to kayak that) and I assume that is how the boats enter into the lake? We also spotted this very small, waterfront Tiki bar (Tiki Bar North) that I am going to have to check out next time! Love this park.

I visited in the winter to see the falls frozen over, and the park rangers had done an excellent job keeping the trail well maintained. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the waterfall, and there's very little elevation change along the way. North Rim trail entrance was close during winter due to ice and snow. But you can skip the dangerous part of the trail by parking at the Taughannock Falls overlook point and start hiking from there. Then you will reach the upper falls. Parking is only $10. lot is small so warmer weather probably will fill up pretty quickly.

I thought it was a fairly easy 1 mile hike out to the falls (though my coworker vehemently disagrees that 1 mile and easy belong in the same sentence - sorry Miss Sheila!), and there were some falcons swooping around. There is a fee to park, but were still spots remaining when we arrived. We should have received discounted parking with a Military ID, but the booth was unmanned that day, so we paid anyway. There is a restroom facility at the parking lot, and it wasn't bad. I actually think it was heated, so that was nice. I'd be interested in seeing the falls and hiking the upper trail when the weather is better!

Suddenly, a perfect place appeared! I was on my way north from Naples, New York when my GPS advised me to bear left on to County Highway 12. To say County 12 was a hill climb is an understatement. The view to my right just kept getting better and better, looking out over Canadaigua Lake at the high ridge on the east side of the well-known Finger Lake. I kept wishing I had been there a couple of weeks earlier when the ridge covered with deciduous trees was probably on fire with fall colors. Just the same, even the brown leaves were breathtaking. POOF! A warning sign advised me of a scenic overlook ahead! Of course, I pulled in, just taking in the breathtaking views as I looked for a good parking spot. (Like it mattered. There are plenty of spaces and all have pretty much the same view.) I grabbed my camera and slowly walked across the parking lot, just taking in the beauty of nature spread out before me. In the center of the overlook is a pair of commercial binoculars. When I was a kid, I remember seeing such devices on the tops of high places, like Granddad's Bluff or the top of the Empire State Building. Those were usually a quarter for a pretty short look. Not here, these remarkable optical devices are free - and they are really high resolution. I looked into one and saw a guy in a fishing boat, pulling away from the dock. I looked over the top of the unit and all I saw was Canadaigua Lake. What boat? Looking back in the viewer - oh, THAT boat! Oops, he's gone out of the view now. Did I mention there are two viewers? One is mounted a bit lower for the little people in your group. I sat on ledge and inhaled the view. I also got to do some people watching, as other people were equally overwhelmed with what they were seeing. Lots of selfies being taken (me, too, I admit it) along with another photographer trying to get the best panorama shot. This is truly someplace special. I hope I can come back sometime and see it when the hills are green.
