Staff sprays off everyone's feet so they don't bring in beach debris. The swimming beach is so shallow. My boys walked for the longest time and even when they started to swim, they could still stand if they wanted. Warm, too. Not the softest sand, but the way out into the lake isn't too bad. The way back, it feels a little more prickly. Guess the rocks face away from the beach. Plenty of parking, seating and shade.

Tip: There's a path here which (upon closer examination) is actually an old street that's in a pretty far-gone state of disrepair. It's so far gone that it's actually too rough to ride a bike on :-( I suggest you learn from our mistake - if you're actually intended to go for a bike ride, you should seek out another destination.

Great trail! There are SO many places to start, and so many places to veer off. They have signs…read morethroughout telling you which branch of the trail to take if you want to go to Main St, or Budd Park, etc. We noticed quite a few benches and tables on our way through, a swing, and at least 4 exercise stops. It looked manicured and well taken care of. We walked the trail to Budd Park and then swung around and took town streets back to the car for fun!

I loved my site with trees secluding me from my adjacent neighbors. I biked all around the site and lake. The lake looked awesome for swimming, fishing and boating access. I saw several playgrounds for young kids. Each of three campgrounds had their own wash house. The one, near my campsite, was really nice! The campground was well maintained and clean. They allow pets but please note most sites don't have RV hookups. Price after fees was $36.25/night.

Thousands of wild flowers bloom every spring. The flower is associated with kindness and everlasting love, among other symbols. I saw some bird watchers around with their binoculars, enjoying the different species of birds. Children were playing in the playgrounds; young people were playing pickleball, basketball, and tennis on a fine spring afternoon in the good weather, something rare in Western NY State.

It became a popular destination that unfortunately brought it so much foot traffic the small park had trouble maintaining the trail. Mendon ponds stepped in to help relocate all the fairy houses, doors and adorable tree bridges in 2019. The detail on some of these items are incredible. My favorite is the tree stump that serves as a tic tac toe board, played with bee and lady bug rocks!

We visited this small beach/park many times during a recent visit to Canandaigua. It was well…read moremaintained; I saw town employees performing landscaping and lifeguards raking the sand on the beach. There is a rule that all trash must be carried out; there are no trash cans on the premises. While it was mostly clean, I would recommend installing some trash cans because there was some garbage left behind by families who were using the park grills. There were several people smoking cigarettes in the grassy area and on the beach, which is against the rules but the lifeguards didn't say anything to them. We visited at various times of the day during our stay and we saw some fantastic sunrises and sunsets. There were families walking along the beach and an artist painting the sunset one evening. It seemed to be a pretty safe area and never too busy, even during mid-day.

It's a beautiful lake and greatly taken care of including both the beach and rest rooms!…read more Unfortunately the rules are a bit over bearing for families to have fun. If you have older children the life guards are stricter.... No dogs No floating device ( which I understand for safety reasons) No splashing or engaging in activities the life guards deem rough - this is not consistant between life guards However, if you have young children that want to throw rocks this behavior the the lifeguards deem appropriate. Other behaviors that were not addressed that that I assume are OK include: Smoking around young children ( both cigarettes and Marijuana) and insanely loud and frequent use of profanity. However, I was able to watch numerous young children throw rocks at eachother with no reprimand.
