I had yet…read moreagain not done any research prior to arriving, so just started driving around the park, looking for a good spot to start our exploring. I parked where it said "daffodil meadow" since that sounded pretty sweet, and we ventured on into the woods. I had no idea it would be such a lovely hike alongside the Irondequoit Creek. We headed the wrong way on the red trail (I think?) and ended up intersecting with a few different trails along the way. The mud was minimal and there were very few other people on the trail the Friday I was there. With a few folks fishing along our hike, Freddy got some great people watching and chipmunk chasing in. I know now that there's a very popular fish hatchery. I didn't know what the situation would be with that during all things COVID, so we kept it simple and made a swift exit right after our sweaty hike. THis park is lush and gorgeous and provides a TON of magnificent views. Happy hiking!

We just guessed and went upstream based on other reviews we had read. If you go, water shoes might be best and plan on walking up the stream. If no water shoes, don't go after rains - it will be too muddy to make much of the walk and parts of the trail will be covered. Even on the best days you're doing some creek crossing at the waterfalls etc. long story short your feet will likely get wet here. All that said it offers wonderful views of a few waterfalls and a beautiful walk through a gorge. Definitely worth the trip!

Needless to say, we did and the kids had a blast. Then we walked to the lake shore to check out the park area. There are some cottages to rent (though we were informed not overnight???) There is a dock, basketball court and playground here as well. Looked as though a YMCA day camp is held here during the summer. Our friend warned that the lake drops off very deep, very fast and we didn't allow our kids to go in. Fun time.

Picnic benches, grills, benches, grassy areas, and lots of parking. Putt putt golf, pickleball, playground, free military museum, and clean restrooms with showers. Wineries all around and some breweries too. South is Watkins glen and north is Geneva. Lots of options for things to do. Highly recommend visiting this beautiful park.

Today, roughly 2,000 acres of open space for mobile campers, tenters, and even fixed cabins for rent. Family friendly throughout the grounds. Boat launch, lakeside beach, play grounds, snack shop, game room, outdoor movie theatre and a Camp Store for replenishing camping needs and the ever popular S'mores refills. On-site, many former military roads and infrastructure during WWII Naval base, and Korean War Air Force base, including a Military Museum on-site built in the 1960's.
