A spring view of the lake!
Lindy S.

One of the very first parks we discovered in the area, and still one of our go to parks for the lake view and the walk! Parking could be better, but even on hot sunny days, we can usually find a free spot. There is a playground, a big gazebo right on the water, covered picnic tables, swinging benches, docks, a small "beach" area, and a gorgeous view all the way up and down the walking path! It's a fabulous place for a picnic! And the FOOD possibilities are endless! You are barely minutes away from fast food, ice cream, and hidden gem restaurants. Highly recommend!

Canandaigua Lake at Kershaw Park

We were looking for a nice park near the lakes to try out pup out with swimming for the first time and google searched the ever impossible task of finding a dog friendly beach with swim access etc... we stopped here and were surprised at how busy the park was.. this was a good sign. Easy parking and there's a welcome center here! We saw lots of people but everyone was considerate of each others' spaces (minus one group who was playing their music loud enough for everyone at the park lol). People who had dogs were very respectful of other dogs and how they were and all were kept on leash and under control! There were lots of picnic tables and places to sit all along the lake. It was absolutely beautiful here- the view of Canandaigua Lake was spectacular and the sunset was picture perfect! Everyone cleaned up after themselves at the park and despite there being paddle boarders, kids and adults swimming, dogs being introduced to water, kayakers, and a ton of ducks!.. everyone was again respectful!! It was an amazing time and we are so excited we found this spot! We are definitely planning a stop here when we are in town again!

Basically this is a nice paved path nestled between the water and a thin grassy area. Along the way there are several benches, a playground, and plenty of grassy space to setup a blanket and picnic. Good mix of shady and sunny spots. My only criticism is that there aren't any garbage cans along the way. However the park was clean and lots of people were there on a sunny and warm April day.

Cool tree along the path by the water.

What a lovely park to spend a nice summer day on. Some interesting facts to know: -There are lots of benches, including some bench swings which provide the opportunity to relax, read a book, sit and chat with a friend all with a gorgeous view of the lake -There are picnic tables, and also shelters with grills around them, be aware that the shelters may be reserved especially in the summer time. -There is a beach area that looked quite nice, you do have to pay to get in, but once you do it offers a wide selection of sunny spots in both the grass and on the sand, and some covered shady areas in the grass. -There are bathrooms and changing rooms located near the beach area that you can access without paying to go to the beach. -There are lockers for rent at the beach. -On weekends (and sometimes other days too, didn't get a true schedule) you can rent canoes and paddle boards) -The park isn't overly wide, so it isn't ideal for setting up a big game of soccer, kan jam or frisbee although you may be able to set up a small game if you find the right area. Overall this is a beautiful place to visit, whether you want to take a quick walk, have a picnic, go to the beach, try out paddle boarding or anything else you can imagine. If you are in the area it is worth a stop!

Took a nice walk through Kershaw Park in Canandaigua on the north shore of the Finger Lake. This nine acre park features a beach area, playground and picnic area.

Free parking and lunch tables

Nice little park with a access to the lake. There are not a lit of places to access the lake but this is one of them. Free parking. Tables to eat at are located along the gravel trails, and if you need to reserve a covered table area there are several available. You can use them without a reservation but if someone with a reservation comes they will kick you out. There are a few sitting benches with backs to overlook the water. If you want to pay to swim, you can access the water here at their pay area. It has lifeguards and is roped off. There are cabanas for shade if you can get one, at no extra charge. There are some kids play equipment as well for the younger tikes and these are in the free area.

Kershaw Park was absolutely beautiful and stunning at Sunset. The park has plenty great views, and places to fish. If you're a photographer this park will reap you a fruitful gallery of pictures!

Pier with tons of seagulls along the lake.

There is a rule that all trash must be carried out; there are no trash cans on the premises. While it was mostly clean, I would recommend installing some trash cans because there was some garbage left behind by families who were using the park grills. There were several people smoking cigarettes in the grassy area and on the beach, which is against the rules but the lifeguards didn't say anything to them. We visited at various times of the day during our stay and we saw some fantastic sunrises and sunsets. There were families walking along the beach and an artist painting the sunset one evening. It seemed to be a pretty safe area and never too busy, even during mid-day.

It's a beautiful lake and greatly taken care of including both the beach and rest rooms!…read more Unfortunately the rules are a bit over bearing for families to have fun. If you have older children the life guards are stricter.... No dogs No floating device ( which I understand for safety reasons) No splashing or engaging in activities the life guards deem rough - this is not consistant between life guards However, if you have young children that want to throw rocks this behavior the the lifeguards deem appropriate. Other behaviors that were not addressed that that I assume are OK include: Smoking around young children ( both cigarettes and Marijuana) and insanely loud and frequent use of profanity. However, I was able to watch numerous young children throw rocks at eachother with no reprimand.
