In the summertime this area is booming. There's a nice open picnic area, a large pavilion, and a smaller pavilion with large built-in grill. Obviously the biggest attraction in the park is the lake. Surprisingly there were actually a few small boats out on the water in this frigid cold. Great place to check out but I'd recommend doing it on a warmer day!

I parked where it said "daffodil meadow" since that sounded pretty sweet, and we ventured on into the woods. I had no idea it would be such a lovely hike alongside the Irondequoit Creek. We headed the wrong way on the red trail (I think?) and ended up intersecting with a few different trails along the way. The mud was minimal and there were very few other people on the trail the Friday I was there. With a few folks fishing along our hike, Freddy got some great people watching and chipmunk chasing in. I know now that there's a very popular fish hatchery. I didn't know what the situation would be with that during all things COVID, so we kept it simple and made a swift exit right after our sweaty hike. This is the finger lake that nobody knows about. It's only 8 miles long, and yet even Eminem has (probably) never been here. Even when his palms were sweaty and he had vomit on his sweater already (Mom's Spaghetti). It's the furthest of the finger lakes, there are 10 others to the North and East.

Great hiking trails so close to the city of Buffalo. We ventured out one of the weekends for a bit…read moreof nature time. We went out on multiple hikes and each of them was uniquely rewarding. The first trail that we did was called Holcomb pond trail. The hike was about 2 miles one way and was moderate with a few drops and inclines but it takes you through a bunch of pretty ponds on the way. The trail is not very well marked though so you might get lost on the way if you are not paying attention. There are colored marks on the trees to guide you. The second trail that we did was Deer luck conservation area which was a 3.2 mile round trip with great views of the river gorge and was an easy hike for us. This is the better one to start with if you are a beginner hiker. This trail was better marked too than the other one and was easy to follow. But watch out for snakes because even though we didn't see any (I was hoping not to), we passed a lot of people who mentioned seeing some on the trails. Zoar valley is huge and we didn't even go on the most popular trail 'the Valentine's flats' so I'm definitely making a trip back to cover that.

Boating, jet skis, kayaking, paddle board, or just soaking up the sun. Bring your own there is no place to rent. If you're lucky you might find some lake glass. My dog and I came here for a walk today (Memorial Day) and the place was almost empty! It's not a huge park, but it's clean and well maintained. There's a small boat launch / marina area, plenty of walkable beach, a playground, picnic tables sporadically placed throughout the park, a pavilion, and restrooms. There's a nicely sized parking area as well. Also, since it's a NYS Park, it's part of the Empire Pass program... so with one of the passes, you'll get in at no additional cost (otherwise, it's $7 per car). TL;DR I'd recommend this park, but honestly... I want it all to myself. So stay out. ;-)
