They wont let you take the boats on Lake Ontario! We were vacationing from out of state and wanted to rent a boat to tour around the lake. But when we got here, they told us we couldn't go on the lake and had to stay on their little muddy pond by the marina. The pond is not very big, only about a mile across and like 3 miles long, and is very shallow. I'm told the fishing is good there, but other than that there is nothing to do on the pond. They said you aren't allowed to take the boats on the lake because of some kind of insurance thing, and they will fine you $500 and cancel your rental if you go on the lake. The rental reservation was non refundable, and we were already there so we took the boat out on their pond and tooled around for a little while, but there's really nothing to do or see, so we brought it back early. In the interest of fairness, I will say that the boats were clean and in good condition, and the staff was friendly, helpful and apologetic. I went back after the fact and looked again at their website, and if you scroll way down to the bottom of the page it does say in the fine print that you cant take the boats on lake Ontario. But its small and buried so its easy to overlook it. In my opinion this is probably done intentionally. If the business was honest they would put a big bright red banner across the top of the page that says "YOU CANT TAKE OUR BOATS ON THE LAKE" so that people wouldn't make the mistake. Or they would just allow you to take the boats on the lake which would be the smart thing. Very misleading. We were very disappointed. I recommend you stay away from this place. read more
