I wish there was a ".5" option on Yelp, if so I'd give my experience at Villa Del Mar a 3.5 and not a 3. I'm very familiar with this restaurant as I grew up going to it, but in Juarez, MX. I wasn't sure what to expect going to the EP location and also didn't want to look at all of the posted reviews before checking it out for myself. We dined in on a Monday in the early evening, around 5 PM or so. It was fairly busy, but not busy enough that there was a wait. We got sat right away by the hostess. We were greeted quickly by our server and throughout our meal she was very attentive to our needs. The restaurant is a good size, great for parties of all sizes. It's spacious and there are booth and table options. The chips and salsa at the beginning weren't our favorite--unfortunately the salsas lacked flavor, no spice, salt or anything. They tasted very bland. We placed our order and were told that all of our plates came with a salad and fish soup to start. The fish soup was good--the broth full of flavor and the vegetables were super soft, but there were barely any pieces of fish in it. The salad is a good size--I had it with ranch dressing. My only critique would be to drain the water from the bowl after washing the lettuce. There was a layer of water under my salad. For my entree I ordered the "Normandi"--fish (I believe tilapia) stuffed with shrimp and pieces of octopus, smothered in a creamy cheese sauce with a side of rice and mashed potatoes. The fish was layered, one fillet on top of the other with shrimp in-between and the octopus was spread throughout the plate under the sauce. It was okay! Not amazing, not great, just okay. It will definitely fill you up--it's a good amount of food for the price, however I wouldn't say there was anything special about it. Would I come back? If I had to, but it wouldn't be in my top choices for seafood in El Paso at this point.

    The restaurant.

Great Place. Amazingly, there were numerous dishes to select from, I kid you not. My wife ordered a Salmon and Inorder a Black Bass (fried). Both were 'finger licking good! While we waited they served 2 different sauces along with chips and both were also delicious. The environment was very pleasant and our waiter also; very courteous, attentive and always alert to any requests. We enjoyed it a lot. I might add, the Bohemia and Sol beers were very cold and delicious.

From begining to end; everything was amazing. It began with us being seated immediately. It's a beautiful building outside and inside; spacious and modern. The server was attentive and professional. I can't wait to go back!!

Good calm and clean environment. I ordered the pablano fish. It was extremely bland and the steamed vegetables were frozen vegetables.

Overly expensive for a shrimp cocktail. Served with 3 very small slices of Avocado, cilantro and a bit of onions.

Best fish in Town. Customer service was great. It was a little bit crowded. I understand why . The food is delicious.

It was a Friday night, we arrived around 8pm and the restaurant was so busy and full of life. Music was blasting, ranging from reggaeton, to regional mexicana/banda, to pop. The prices for the food and drinks were all super cheap as well, so we knew we'd be ordering multiple items. Probably the best item we had was the arrachera quesadilla (can't remember the actual name in the menu for it). Our waiter was a young guy, constantly coming by asking if we wanted to add on to our order. We had multiple rounds of tequila shots and some mixed drinks, but definitely felt like the liquor was watered down. Before we took off, we even danced a couple of songs, giving us a club feel. Overall we loved it so much we had decided to come back the following Tuesday with more family. Well....we were left so disappointed. Everything was completely different. We arrived around 10, figured it being a Tuesday before Christmas Eve, it wouldn't be too busy. It seems that it was a lot busier than the restaurant had expected because they were definitely understaffed. Our waiter probably took 20 minutes to come to us to take our drink order and when he finally did, he stood in one end of the table struggling to hear us from the opposite end over the loud music. Don't understand why he couldn't simply walk over to our side. We waited another 10 minutes to actually get the drinks and for him to come around again to take our food order. Since service was so slow, we tried going straight to the bar and get drinks there, but they wouldn't take our orders because they had to be placed with our waiter. Food was pretty much the same, with the exception of the kitchen running out of multiple items by 11:30. I would have given this place 5 stars on the first visit alone: cheap food and drinks (great food quality for the value), absolutely great ambiance and fast/attentive service. But because we came back again and had such terrible and slow service, I'm giving them 3 stars.

It was pretty chill which I liked. The place was also really clean. The waitress we had was nice and friendly. She checked on how we were doing a couple of times. She did disappear for some time but eventually came and checked on us. I liked her personality and the service she gave us. They also have a pretty good menu of beer and a signature drink menu. Some of the drinks are named after El Paso landmarks...for example a Scenic Drive. Now for the not so good... Unfortunately, I didn't see any of the employees wearing masks. I didn't like that too much. There was a sign on the door that asked for patrons to wear masks upon entering. I ordered a margarita flight. Sad to say...I didn't really enjoy it. The drinks were overly sweet. I like sweet drinks but this was too much. I didn't taste any tequila in them whatsoever. I don't like margaritas to be too strong either. I want to be able to taste the mix and tequila together. There has to be a balance of both. I had to ask the waitress to bring me a couple of shots of Hornitos. It still wasn't enough! I could still taste the sweetness in them. I didn't even get a little bit buzzed and...I've sort of become a lightweight drinker these days! We ordered a pretzel and wings. The pretzel came with cheese and mustard. The wings came with French fries. Both entrees were too salty. I couldn't eat too much of either. One minor detail was the music they were playing. I kid you not...one minute they were playing heavy metal music like Pantera. The next song they played after that was "My Heart will go on" from "Titanic" and Celine Dion. "The Thong Song" was playing a bit prior to this. Really?? I had a little flashback of partying it up in Juarez for a few minutes there back in the late 90s, early 2000s. If you know you know...If you're from El Paso, you definitely know. Lol. I realize they just opened this second location a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps there are still some kinks to work out. We all know this usually happens when a bar/restaurant first opens. Would I come back? I might. I often believe in giving second chances. I'm interested in trying that Scenic Drive mixed drink. Plus, they're around five minutes away from the house. This cost a little over $50. I'll update the review if I have to and if I decide to come back. It's located where a pizzeria once was.
