I came here Tuesday for the (free) weekly "world tavern poker" games, first one at 6:30pm. It's a…read morefriendly fast-paced group of 3 or 4 tables of six to eight. I finished "in the points" this time! It's held in the hall that you get to through the small bar. You get to the bar through a door with the Canteen sign above it off the parking lot. It's a very low-key place, with some VFW memorabilia. As a non-member, I signed in by the door. The decor is old and homey. There's around a dozen seats at the small bar, but i dont recall if there were any tables. There are some kind of lottery or scratch-off ticket machines, and a tv. The bartender keeps things moving, and there's a simple menu, hot dogs, pizza, cheeseburgers, chicken nuggets and fingers, a philly cheese steak, fries, and more. The burger was hot and juicy, and i think it may have been microwaved. Tasted fine. The fries were pretty good and piping hot. The people all seemed friendly and relaxed. If your at all cool, you wont find much for you here, but if you're just a regular person, this seems like a nice place for a quiet drink and some regular food.

This nonprofit is housed on the 2nd floor of a building right off of George Washington University's…read morecampus, which can have an adverse effect on hunting down parking spaces depending on what time of day you come - but, provides you with a smorgasbord of food truck selections should you feel peckish before your class/event at the center . Although the primary focus of the center is to assist disabled veterans with finding career opportunities in the Washington DC area, many of their workshops and events are open to the local veteran community and are held primarily during weekday daytime hours. They also run the Washington DC Kaufman FastTrac class for new and aspiring military veteran entrepreneurs. I came here for the FastTrac program, which I'd highly recommend to anyVET who's contemplating owning and operating their own business. You do have to sign in at the front desk of the building, but sometimes the concierge is inconsistent so I'm not sure if it's a building thing or what - either way be sure to check in with the front desk. There are other nonprofits that inhabit the building but I'm not sure about their mission/focus. At the veterans center on the 2nd floor there's restrooms, two classrooms and a mini-lounge area with materials about other veterans-centric programs/events occurring in the area. They're not open on the weekends but I think that's because the building itself isn't open then. Warriors and their families will be invited to spend time at the retreat. The retreat property sits at the edge of the beautiful Bull Run Mountain Conservancy and Virginia's renown Hunt Country. Work is currently underway to complete renovations on the first house. Plans include expanding the capacity to serve wounded warriors by adding a couple of more houses. When you walk into Post 60 you are greeted and treated like your important and like your family by everyone. They have a large bar with very friendly bartenders. They always seem to have some type of event, party or band going happening. They have a very large and beautiful hall adjacent to bar where they hold BINGO on Friday nights. They also have a great deck outside to hang on. Just a wonderful time always here. It's a must visit.

I went after finding a Living Social deal, was highly skeptical, had read mixed reviews. however, my experience was quite positive. The location was nice, the event was extremely well-organized, and I thought it was a good deal after the coupon. Who shows up at these things is a crapshoot, but fortunately, my event was just about even between men and women and I think I met about a dozen men. Looks like I am going to have at least one date as a result. After the event , you get an email within two days (I got it less than 24 hours later) allowing you to make a mini-profile, select those you were interested in and see "mutual matches" and exchange emails through that platform with anyone from the event. Again, I find the whole thing very well organized and I had a good time. My only complaint, like others, is that the event DOES start about 30 minutes after it says (at 7:30) so people who arrive on time or a little "late" end up awkwardly sitting around the bar not sure what to do. Fortunately, I struck up an interesting convo with one of the other ladies attending and enjoyed that. However, I suggest arriving at 7:20 to check in, get a quick drink, and jump ride into the dating!

Try it for yourself, then come back and offer an honest review about this company, its false advertising and poor customer service.
