I came here Tuesday for the (free) weekly "world tavern poker" games, first one at 6:30pm. It's a…read morefriendly fast-paced group of 3 or 4 tables of six to eight. I finished "in the points" this time! It's held in the hall that you get to through the small bar. You get to the bar through a door with the Canteen sign above it off the parking lot. It's a very low-key place, with some VFW memorabilia. As a non-member, I signed in by the door. The decor is old and homey. There's around a dozen seats at the small bar, but i dont recall if there were any tables. There are some kind of lottery or scratch-off ticket machines, and a tv. The bartender keeps things moving, and there's a simple menu, hot dogs, pizza, cheeseburgers, chicken nuggets and fingers, a philly cheese steak, fries, and more. The burger was hot and juicy, and i think it may have been microwaved. Tasted fine. The fries were pretty good and piping hot. The people all seemed friendly and relaxed. If your at all cool, you wont find much for you here, but if you're just a regular person, this seems like a nice place for a quiet drink and some regular food.

This nonprofit is housed on the 2nd floor of a building right off of George Washington University's…read morecampus, which can have an adverse effect on hunting down parking spaces depending on what time of day you come - but, provides you with a smorgasbord of food truck selections should you feel peckish before your class/event at the center . Although the primary focus of the center is to assist disabled veterans with finding career opportunities in the Washington DC area, many of their workshops and events are open to the local veteran community and are held primarily during weekday daytime hours. They also run the Washington DC Kaufman FastTrac class for new and aspiring military veteran entrepreneurs. I came here for the FastTrac program, which I'd highly recommend to anyVET who's contemplating owning and operating their own business. You do have to sign in at the front desk of the building, but sometimes the concierge is inconsistent so I'm not sure if it's a building thing or what - either way be sure to check in with the front desk. There are other nonprofits that inhabit the building but I'm not sure about their mission/focus. At the veterans center on the 2nd floor there's restrooms, two classrooms and a mini-lounge area with materials about other veterans-centric programs/events occurring in the area. They're not open on the weekends but I think that's because the building itself isn't open then. Once located, a spacious parking lot. That's a plus. This building is huge w an upstairs and downstairs. We were upstairs. Huge open dining room w many tables, chairs, and space. This place has a office for staff members and their own council . They have a huge all purpose room for other events . They have 2 huge HGTV's for news and sports . They have live entertainment ever saturday nights . The all purpose rom is used for other events such as weddings birthdays and more. But like most place like this, it is never going to happen. There are the stereotypical people you find at places like this. Most these are harmless and good-natured like Otis, from Mayberry. Then there are the random ones, who are not (one would call them problem children). They will make you want to leave (which is what I have done).

My mom recently passed, and her birthday is today. She and my grandma used to play Bingo when we…read morewere kids so the family came out to play. This hall is a little different from Bingo World. I feel like it cost more to play here. The clerks are not as attentive, they're nice but when you're trying to buy extra games they aren't close by. They also don't have trash cans under the table so we had to keep getting up to clean the table. The food is more expensive and they have less choices. Lastly they only take cash which was weird to me. Like no debit, credit, Apple Pay, just cash. Cool experience but I'll stick to the other Bingo Hall.
