Attitude goes a long way. Its not that you could not fulfil our request or accommodate an expedited appointment. Its how you handled it. Telling a customer no is fine. Getting an attitude, being condescending, and accusing the customer of lying are never a good look. This started with the girl at the front desk and was furthered by the Vet. We are not leaving a 1 star review because you said no. We are leaving a one star review for the disrespect and complete lack of customer service. Even when we called back to have them send our records to the new Vet the lady at the desk still had an attitude, was snappy, condescending, and hung up abruptly. read more

I honestly don't know if we were scammed or not but overall, my experience wasn't great either way. Our dog was diagnosed with glaucoma by a vet at our local animal hospital and we were referred to Dr. Vernot. First available appointment was over six weeks out and given the lack of ophthalmologist vets in the state, that made sense. I was informed an "emergency" visit would cost an additional $50, but since our dog was being medicated and kept comfortable in the meantime, I did not opt for that. Less then 10 minutes after scheduling the appointment I was called back and told two appointment times suddenly opened up and we could be seen the next day. Apparently this also falls under "emergency" visit and we were charged an additional $50 even though we didn't ask for the sooner appointment. When I arrive, I find out the practice is inside another vet practice and they are still practicing extremely strict COVID protocols- none of this was explained to me when I was making the appointment. All exterior signs on the building indicate protocols for the OTHER vet business and make NO mention of what Veterinary Vision expects you to do upon arrival. My dog hates the car so we had to stand outside in the cold waiting for our appointment time since she wouldn't get back in to wait. Then someone comes out for us and we're brought inside and my dog is taken back to an exam room without me immediately. No explanation, no questions, nothing. Just me signing a sheet about payment. When my dog was returned she was upset and visibly shaken- she began growling at the tech who assisted the doctor as well which she has never done with other techs. The doctor came out and explained everything throroughly but also referred to my dog as a bitch for being "bad" during the exam. My dog was scared, confused and in pain while strangers that didn't introduce themselves to us first performed invasive exams! It's then discussed that eye removal would be the best option and I was given an estimate which was 4x as much as another vet we chose to bring her to instead. (The fact that Dr. Vernot is the one who recommended I shop around for prices is why I gave 3 stars instead of less). We left with more medication and no real answers. We called and got more clarification for follow up which was helpful. The overall experience was poor but we got a few answers and now our girl will be in more compassionate hands moving forward. read more

After my local vet suggested an appointment with Dr. Jackie Vernot, I called right away and was told there were not any appointments for 6 weeks out. I scheduled the first available even though I was concerned with the extensive wait period. At first they were nice on the phone when making the appointment, but 2 business days before the appointment, they called me to collect payment over the phone, I wasn't expecting this and was away for work. I called first thing Monday morning which happened to also be the day of the exam (late afternoon) to discuss and provide payment, they immediately notified me that my appointment was cancelled and I had to reschedule again for another 6 weeks out. If payment is required they should have requested it to make the appointment not call a few times a business day before and expect to get a hold of someone. Seems like this place cares more about their pocket book than caring for animals. Very poor business practices. Beware! read more

Dr Vernot hands down is the most down to earth vet I've ever had the pleasure of taking my pets to be examined. She explains your pets diagnoses so that you can understand exactly what is happening with their vision. She uses diagrams of the eyes and shows you exactly what part of the eye is or is not working properly. Best thing is she draws on the diagrams so that you can take it home and bring it to your regular vet to share what is going on with your pets eyes. The staff was wonderful with handling my dog who had suddenly gone completely blind. I highly recommend Dr Vernot and her Staff for your pets vision needs. read more

It's funny I come on here to complain about the attitude of the person at the front desk and the first review i see that is negative is about the attitude of the cashier 2 years ago! obviously this company doesn't hold their employees to a professional standard when dealing with clients. Chris Laden was extremely rude to me when going over my outpatient invoice. she said "Im going to go over the medications for home in a minute with you" and i said "what meds?" she snapped back saying "I just said Im going to go over them in a minute with you!" i said "woah take it easy" when she replies "NO! YOU take it easy" i said "if you read my notes you would see that i already have a month of this medicine at home from his regular vet, so you can see my confusion when you talk about charging me and sending me home with more." i said "you guys are working for us, i just spent 3k in here and id appreciate if you lost the attitude with me." she replies "NO YOU need to lose YOUR attitude" safe to say everything else went down hill from there... no way will i ever go back and ill make sure to throw dirt on this place every time anyone mentions it. find a different emergency vet.. read more

Dr. Vernot is an excellent veterinarian. The fact that she isn't board-certified as a veterinary ophthalmologist is irrelevant to me. Thanks to her intervention, my 11-year-old dog still has her vision, despite a number of eye problems, including glaucoma. Dr. Vernot is incredibly patient, and my dog adores her. Her rates are more than reasonable, especially considering the time she takes to explain the issues and her treatment plan. I am appalled that this sworn-in vet has chosen not to see any "new" patients. Animal ophthalmologists are already scarce in Illinois so to make a decision that you are simply not taking any "new" patients leaves the worst taste in my mouth. My dog had seen Dr. Vernot about 3 years ago, but apparently this doesn't qualify her as an established patient. So, unfortunately, my dog was rejected from this eye "click." I was given Naperville Animal Consultants, while they are at least accepting patients, I was not given an appointment until 10/1. I've resulted to contacting U of I and U of Madison Wisconsin. I will never see this vet again and will tell all of my friends and family about this experience. read more

She is patient, empathetic and loving with your fur kid. Plus she makes sure that you as the owner are well informed about your precious pets condition and gives hugs as needed. Dr. Vernot was amazing. When she entered the exam room she sat, introduced herself to my dog and made it a point to make him feel comfortable for a few minutes before examining him. She even offered him healthy organic treats, which made him really happy. She was able to diagnose the problem as well as perform a small procedure on his eye during our visit, saving us a lot of time. DR VERNOT HIT MY DOG!!! Hard on the ass. My dog was very nervous and I told her to muzzle her. She dragged her around clearly choking her to get her in the position she wanted and then smacked her hard on the ass. She referred to my dog as a bitch, and repeatedly said " I can be one too." Dr. Jackie and her staff are amazing! Our shih tzu has had chronic eye problems over the years due to a blink deficit (due to his bulging eyes). Whenever our sweet pup had a flare up, Dr. Jackie can quickly assess the situation and help get the flare up under control. The regular vets typically miss the mark when it comes to our dog's eye situation. Try as we might with a comprehensive medication regiment, we lost the battle of the last bacterial infection that grabbed hold of our dog's eye. During that battle, Dr. Jackie was always available to us. Even when she was out of town, she called us to check on the situation. We made the decision to have his eye removed. Surgery was done on a Thursday. They said he'd feel so much better with the painfully infected eye removed and that within about 3 days our dog would be back to his usual self. So true! Our dog is 12. He's as alert as he was before all this started. He is definitely out of pain now! Again Dr. Jackie and her staff were amazing through the entire process! Dr. Jackie is a dog whisperer. She takes her time with each dog; never rushes her introduction to them. She ends the visit with healthy, unusual treats that the dogs love! She explains everything and speaks in a way the dog's mom & dog understand. The compassion, concern and love of animals that Dr. Jackie and her staff have is evident in every encounter!! I took my Cavalier King Charles to see Dr. Vernot . I noticed a cloudy white spot on my dog's left eye and another smaller spot on the right that was starting to develop. Dr. Vernot was extremely knowledgeable and immediately confirmed it was lagophthalmos. The white spots were caused by blink deficiency. Because my dog's eyes were a bit bulgy, her eyelids do not close all the way when she blinks. I am very thankful that it was not something more serious that will cause blindness. Dr. Vernot gave us a detailed explanation. She was caring and smart. You can just tell that your dog will be in good hands. I've researched for an eye specialist and what I found is that there are very few around the Chicagoland area, especially a good one. I'm so glad I found her. With that being said, the minute I brought him into this office and he was greeted by Dr. Vernot, he was relaxed and no longer fearful. I am in total shock. Dr. Jacqueline Vermont is not an ophthalmologist. She portrays herself as one.She is just a D.V.M and never completed her training. How she gets away with this and charges such high rates is beyond me. Do not go here if your animal is having problems with his/her eyes. Her business card and practice is very deceiving. Her web site is also deceiving. You will just throw money out the window. She is a fraud! I can't say it strong enough. Do not go here!I My experience has horrific. Where I work I do not have a phone. I am not allowed to walk around with one. It is a School. When I got home there was a very nasty message that If I do not get back to them by 4:00 they would give my appt away. I am never home by 4:00. I had this appt for over a month. At this time I did not know that Dr. Vermont was a fraud. I could not believe this. Apparently they think nobody works and everyone walks around with a phone. It was such a viscous message. Who does this? Who treats customers like this? When I finally talked to the dr., I realized that she sets the tone for everyone to follow. She was quite nasty on the phone and did not want to be bothered with my call. My dog is my child and getting him the right care is so important. I could have gone to any DVM or even my vet. I thought I was going to a specialist. I now understand why Tru Panion insurance accepted her diagnosis but would not pay out. She is not a specialist! They classified this as a routine visit. I also want to add that I did go to an ophthalmologist after this horrible experience and my dog was diagnosed correctly. Dr Vermont did not give him the right diagnoses. read more

Words cannot express how amazing Dr. Vernot and her entire staff are. Every single person in the office are kind, compassionate and patient animal lovers. I live close to downtown Chicago, so I was a bit concerned about the drive initially. My regular vet, whose practice is in the city as well, insisted that Dr. Vernot is the specialist to see in order to get the best help for my dog who has a blind eye with glaucoma. I trust him so I listened, and am so glad that I did. My dog is a rescue with trust issues and she immediately was comfortable with Dr. Vernot due to her genuine compassion and care for animals. Beyond how amazing she was to Bella, she also made me extremely comfortable with what was going on with my dog's eye treatment and explained everything in detail. Every single time that I was there, she never rushed and ensured that I understood everything that was going on, I can't begin to stress how grateful I am to her entire office. Attn: All pet lovers! Our 10 yr old dog Lexi was diagnosed with secondary glaucoma by her vet. We were referred to a dog eye specialist and scheduled an appointment. The dr told us we would need to remove her eye and send it out for testing to know what caused the glaucoma. They even suggested we perform the surgery at that very moment. We were taken back and sadden and decided to get a second opinion. I then found Dr. Vernot at Veterinary Vision on yelp. We immediately scheduled an appointment and were warmly greeted by Jessica and Kelly. Dr. Vernot was absolutely very detailed and explained what was happening to Lexi's eye and gave us different options for treatment. Her gentle kind soul and knowledge helped ease our mind. She was very compassionate and was incredibly sweet with our Lexi. We decided to proceed with a procedure that wasn't as invasive as removing her entire eye. Lexi has been doing well and recovering from the procedure. Dr. Vernot is kind enough to call us and check in on her progress. I absolutely would recommend everyone and anyone to go here. Dr. Vernot is one of the, if not THE best, Doctor I have ever encountered. I was a nervous wreck when I went in for my baby's glaucoma (he is only 1 and a half) and she made me feel so much better. Even though we eventually lost the battle in one of his eyes, she did everything in her power to prevent it. And she continues to do so that the same thing doesn't happen in the other eye. She has done everything she could to help him adjust. She loves animals, you can tell by her entire demeanor. The staff is wonderful and so understanding. I have seen them stay late on numerous occasions to help one of their patients. They have adjusted their schedules, worked through their lunch hours, and have literally made so many exceptions in order to help me personally. I will forever be appreciative of all they have done for my boy, and all they will do in the future. read more
