My experience with Glass America could not have been worse…read more In August, my front passenger window shattered. It was probably due to the car sitting through a heat wave with the windows rolled up. My insurance agent called Glass America. The first technician replaced the window in such a way that the glass rubbed against the window frame as it closed. As a result, it trips the safety mechanism and the window automatically rolls down. This happens 100% of the time and the technician had to know the problem existed before he left. Instead, he just left and I did not discover the problem until after he was gone. My instinct was to take the car to the dealership. They tried resetting the software, but that didn't fix it. That's when they determined that the glass was rubbing as it went up. They also indicated that the technician had failed to clean out all the broken glass inside the door and that they had done that for me. I called Glass America back and they agreed to send out a second technician. That second technician confirmed the rubbing, said that they would replace the window a second time and I would be called in one or two days to set an appointment. That never happened. Two weeks later I called them again and scheduled a third technician to replace the window. The third technician replaced the window, but could not resolve the problem. He said that customer service would call me in a day or two to figure out "next steps." That didn't happen. In addition, the door handle on the inside seemed loose and we could not longer open the passenger door from the inside. At this point, I went back to the dealership. They fixed the door handle. The glass technician had disconnected the cable and had not reconnected it. Further, they reported that the glass technician had torn the liner inside the door. So, I escalated it back to my insurance agent. He escalated it at Glass America and a customer service person called me right back. She indicated that they would send out another technician. I said that I didn't want them touching my car again because every time they made things worse. I wanted the dealership to fix it and for Glass America to foot the bill. This was on a Friday. She said that she did not have authority to agree to that, but her boss would call me on Monday. That was a month ago. Needless to say, I never got a call. So now I'm screwed. I'm facing a series of replacements by the dealership in my passenger door until they identify and fix the problem. It could result in a replacement of the entire door. That would probably exceed $1000.
