I went this past Sunday. It was my second time. The first time was horrible and stressful. This past Sunday was no different. I gave them another try, and I won't be back. The staff is not friendly, they act like they couldn't care less about what you want. They treat you like an inconvenience. The first time I went the owner was rude and yelling across the room at her staff. It completely stressed me out. This time the guy didn't even shape my nails, he just did the dip and then filed them a little afterwards, he gave me a subpar massage on my arms all while trying not to look at me, and I had to tell them 4 times what color i wanted. The color didn't turn out like what I picked out. It was awkwardly silent in there unless the owner was talking loudly. The overall experience I have had there both times has been stressful. Not what you want when you get your nails done. They need to be taught good customer service! Would not recommend at all. You're better off doing your nails on your own at home. The manager is rude. I had a pedicure and manicure done. Pedicure was ok. Manicure was a disaster. Nail polish was all over my cuticles/finger. The manager came to take a look and said that the nail tech did a "sub par" job with my nail polish. Instead of having the nail tech fix my nail polish she told her " to go see another customer to make more money" and that she'll take care of my nail polish. She fixed the nail polish by removing the excess. She then said that since it's regular nail polish "it will get ruined in 2 days anyway". We were waiting for our nails to dry for a few minutes when the manager came and said "you know how to open the door to leave right". Will not be returning. I was surprised by the way we were spoken to to be honest. The place is also very overpriced. I paid $65 for a regular color manicure and pedicure. read more

The new location is nice, however it was very difficult to find. It's almost like they moved overnight and did not update their address. Upon walking in the store, the staff unpleasantly welcomes me in, making me feel like a nuisance. I always get SNS and am willing to pay the price for good service. But this is not it. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. Awful service, you ask for one thing and get the complete other. It's not the first time nor the second time that this has happened. They left my hands soaking in acetone for way longer then it should have that my skin was hurting from it. They have one person working on multiple different people instead of just focusing on one person and doing their job right . And when you reach out to management all she said was "people go to whoever they like" to me as a manager that is not a professional answer nor a way to handle a complaint from a customer that has been going to your business FOR YEARS. Once you mess up a set of nails no matter if you say "let me fix it" there is not fixing. You can't uncut the nail you did. You can't turn around nail into a square nail without making the nail shorter then you already made it even after the customer had told you that wasn't what they wanted. It's sad to go into that place and always seeing her workers slammed with 2-3 people back to back Instead of letting them take their time and focus on one person to provide exceptional service. You feel rushed getting in and out of there. If you aren't their white Vestavia rich customers they treat you how ever you want. You go to a nail salon to relax not to hear someone yelling across the salon or being sarcastically rude to her employees all the time, and thinking it's funny. TLDR: Be weary, & double check your technician's license first. They use techniques that aren't the safest, but are pretty common (acetone soak and nail drills on your natural nail). The nail techs aren't very great with the nail drill, and they aren't very transparent about their prices. More importantly, they don't feel the need to display employee licenses, and when asked for the license number, the owner got upset. I don't usually leave reviews about places I visit, but I felt like this needed to be shared. They started by taking off my last dip powder set with an acetone soak; not my favorite, as it dries my hands out. Other people in the salon had their nails removed with acetone cotton balls wrapped in foil, so I'm not sure why that wasn't offered to me, but I moved on. My nail tech filed my natural nails with a nail drill which I didn't love, but again I looked past it. She kept nicking my fingers with the file, and it HURT. I kept flinching, and told her that she was hurting me, but she kept doing it. I think she may have also possibly filed them too much, because my nail beds were hurting. She didn't have me wash my hands before putting my finger directly in the the dip powder, which was concerning. Most salons I've visited either require you to wash your hands first, or they pour the powder over your finger or dip your finger in a separate container to reduce contamination. She got me to put my hand under a UV light. I asked her why, because I avoid gel since the light hurts my hands. The owner (who was also trash talking other salons while doing my friend's nails, which we thought was incredibly unprofessional) explained to me that the color I picked (chrome powder) has to be applied on top of gel, and said that they assumed I knew. I understood, but it was weird that they would have it listed as a dip color if it has to go on top of gel, since many people do SNS specifically to avoid UV. But we were almost done, so I told them I was fine finishing the manicure. She then applied the wrong color on top of my base dip layer, which was a little annoying, but not a big deal (also, she applied it with her finger instead of a brush or sponge). They fixed it without an issue, but I had to speak to the owner to explain the problem. I then found out that the nail tech didn't speak much English. At this point, I started getting concerned, and was wondering how she could be licensed, as the cosmetology licensing exam is only offered in English. I find at checkout that my total is $75! I ask why, and the owner tells me chrome is an extra $15. I told her I had no idea, that no one told me, and the prices weren't posted anywhere. The owner again responded that she assumed I knew (I'm not sure why I would've known). I paid for it, because I understand that those are their prices for the services I received, I just think someone should've told me that it was extra, or they should have their prices posted. Apparently they only take Venmo or cash tips, which is very strange, but I left one on Venmo. After I left the salon, I started thinking, and I realized that the name of the girl's Venmo account didn't match the name on the license displayed on her work station, and after thinking about the experience, I called the salon to ask about her license number. The owner answered and it seemed like it wouldn't be an issue, until I told her the name on the Venmo account, at which point she became very upset. She responded "I don't know why you're doing this," and I told her I just wanted to make sure the girl was licensed. She responded "oh she's very licensed." I again explained for my own health and safety, I wanted to make sure, since her license wasn't displayed (which is against the law) and asked for the number again. She still wouldn't give it to me, and said that the girl only works there on Sunday which is why her license wasn't displayed and that she could give it to me in two to three days. I told her it was fine. She then started trying to convince me to let it go, saying things like I "just need to trust them," and she's "worked in the business for 16 years" and asking me if "a refund would make me happier." I again told her I just wanted the license number, and that this isn't a big request since the license wasn't displayed (which she should know is a big no-no as someone in the business for 16 years). Just be cautious here, and don't let them do your nails before verifying that they're licensed to do so! Like I said, I rarely post reviews, but this is a major health, safety, and quality issue! EDIT: I was not able to verify that the girl who did my nails is licensed, and after a rude response from the owner, I have filed complaints with both the BBB and the Alabama Board of Cosmetology about a potentially unlicensed employee. read more

I found Vestavia Nails almost a year ago via Yelp, and they were the highest ranked nail salon I found. This is for good reason, because Tu and her crew are great at what they do! You can make an appointment or just show up and they are happy to have you. I'm obsessed with the SNS manicure but they also do regular acrylic and gel manis. They have a plethora of options when it comes to pedicures too! Whether you want to "Treat yo self" or need a super quick without all the works they have an option for you! Went here with my sister to get my wedding nails done, huge mistake. I wanted a French tip manicure and ended up with neon orange nails. Once we were seated, he asked what color I wanted and I said "I just want a French tip, I'm not sure if y'all have a specific color y'all use for that?" And he ignored me. 5 minutes later he asked me again what color I wanted. I chose a pink color that was pretty sheer and asked again for white tips. He went and got the color and I didn't think anything of it. Midway through I noticed that the color was neon orange. He literally just went and got a random color. At this point I just gave up. He wasn't going to listen to me so I just silently waited for it to be over. This manicure also took 2 hours. Luckily I was able to go home, soak off my nails and do my own manicure so my wedding day wasn't ruined. I do not recommend this place at all. I came to this nail salon because it was one of the only places open on Sunday. First off, don't waste your time or money. I made an appointment the day before with a certain person who had been recommended to me. The next day I show up 10 minutes early. I told them about my appointment and they acted confused and said "no" then sent me to a whole other person??? They man was so rude!!! I brushed it off. I sat down to get SNS. I was handed only 20 color choices?? When I asked for more the nail tech huffed!!! I should've walked out then. I picked my color and continued. The nail service wasn't rushed and the place looks nice and clean. The people who work there are so rude though. My my experience was anything but relaxing. As if that wasn't bad enough, my SNS started chipping after two days. TWO DAYS!!! I'm a stay at home mom.. my SNS usually last up to two weeks. So they obviously use cheap product or skip a step. Giving two stars is GENEROUS - and am only doing so because of the decent job the nail tech did on my nails. The owner is RUDE and clearly doesn't know good business practices. She then proceeded to tell me that it would be 81 dollars as 'the prices on the website are old and she doesn't know how to change it and she "tried" but she doesn't care and there's nothing she can do' hahaha ummm do you not realize that's false advertisement and i could report you and your business to the BBB, and did I mention she didn't have said 'new price list' easily accessible? What a JOKE. And when you thought it couldn't - it gets worse. She was complaining the entire rest of the time I was there off and on about how 'she doesn't feel like making decisions for people and if one more person asks her to she will yell at them, etc' which made me feel very uncomfortable because i felt she was being passive aggressive towards me and also kept referencing prices and making jokes about that as well. Overall - extremely poor experience, overpriced,RUUUDE owner who yells across the salon the entire time and belittles guests, oh and two of my nails are completely CROOKED and I asked the nail tech to fix them and he just did a couple light strokes with a file and said it's fixed... and trust me they are not, I just did not feel like arguing. This was the first time getting my nails done in Alabama as I have moved recently from Florida. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Not only were the salon workers rude, but I have never seen someone hurry through an acrylic set as fast as the person that did mine. Didn't ask what length, cut way too short and didn't act like they cared if I liked it that way or not. Very few gel colors to choose from. My nails weren't formed correctly, they were dipping in some areas and not to the shape that I wanted. Although I got gel with my acrylic, it started coming off 2 days later. And, the best part, I just took my nails off, and as a former cosmetologist, I was shown every sign that they use MMA. Sticky, white, etc. when coming off. Unsafe.
