This was my first time getting my nails done at Jay's Hands and Feet Salon. She got me in on the same day that I called and didn't rush me even though she had other appointments. The atmosphere of this establishment was so relaxing, her products are luxurious and she gave me a very "pampered" mani/pedi session. It was a pleasant experience and her attention was all mine because she only takes one client at a time. She has the warmest personality which made me feel like I was visiting an old friend. I have been using Jay nails for several years, and I'm very happy with their service. The nail salon just had a complete reno and looks so nice! For services, I typically get gel manicures and regular pedicures. I go themed sometimes and add stickers which are fun. The place is very clean. They stay busy, but I often just stop by as a walk-in. I've made appointments, too. They were replacing their massage chairs, so I'll check that out next time when I get a pedicure. read more

*sigh* I don't like to give negative reviews but my experience wasn't good so I have to share. First the good: clean place, they accepted walk-ins. The bad: I wanted some colorful French tips, I was told they would only do it in shellac and that would be 30-40 more. So I decided to just pick some colors. Because I wanted more than one color they charged me extra. The person that did my nails was also the front desk person so every time the phone rang or someone came in they'd get up from doing my nails to do that. The ugly: I asked for a mani, I didn't get my cuticles pushed back, any dead skin removed, etc, just the acrylics and color. The acrylic powder is super thick and bumpy, it feels like my nails are gonna break in half. They told me to avoid wetting my hands for 2-3 hours. It's been 6 hours, they're already chipping and it feels like they're not fully dry somehow. There's acrylic powder dried up under my nails. I'm truly bummed out because it was my birthday present from my MIL and now I have ugly nails for my birthday. read more

I showed this picture to one of the employees, and i explained that i get this color often but not sure what was used. I typically go to another place but my friend recommended here. The nail tech explained that he doesn't know what to use for this and he can't mix colors with sns because he's not skilled enough. Maybe don't rush clients in and out, I understand bodies in the seats mean more money, but doing a good job means word of mouth referrals, listen and be sure they understand what the client is asking. There is a language barrier, but be clear before just starting on someone's nails. read more

I have mixed feelings about this nail salon. My nails ended up looking less than perfect. The woman who did my nails said it was because my nails were allergic to the glue I used (I had applied them myself) I'm not sure if this is true, since I've done it before and when I went to another nail salon my nails looked perfect. I came yesterday for a pedicure and full set. So far the highest price I have ever seen for a gel toe polish is $25 added on to the base pedicure. I went with regular polish. Was there an hour more. Left with my slides on. When about two hours after that I noticed my one foot with polish all over the place. I went in today to get the gel on and it's still a $25 dollar charge! F that! I even tipped them yesterday. 25$. I should have got the gel and gave them nothing. Lesson learned! read more

I try never to do a negative review but this experience with Jay nail spa was so disappointing. I don't live in Bham but hung around after a doc appointment until Jay Nail opened just to try them based on Google reviews. The guy who removed my gel and did a regular manicure was suffering from bad allergies with a very runny nose. It was difficult to watch him blow his nose and not wash his hands before touching mine while sniffing the whole time. He did put on a mask briefly but I suspect it was to keep from having to blow his nose. I would have left then but didn't want to cause a scene and embarrass him. In addition he was so rough with the file, dremel tool and clippers that my cuticles are cut and are red and painful this morning. He knew he did this because I jerked my hand but didn't slow or apologize. I even tipped him 20% because I felt if I didn't, my nails would look worse. (He left gel in the corners because he didn't want to leave me in the foils and acetone long enough.) He didn't even say "thank you". I understand not feeling well and having a bad day but next time stay home and take care of yourself. Very bad first (and only) experience. read more

The service was decent enough until the lady doing my manicure criticized me for not getting a gel manicure for me and my daughter, said it would take forever to dry then left me with a fan that barely worked and my daughter without one entirely. We sat there for ten minutes blowing on each other's nails. What a waste of time and money. read more

My first time coming here was great.. Amy did my nails and toes so well I decided to come back.. When I first walked in the facility the energy was way off, the employees along with the manager all had horrible attitudes and were very short with their words as if I was talking to myself.. A younger man did my nails.. he couldn't get them even, the paint was horrible, they were thin and he didn't even put any cuticle oil on my nails.. My mother asked for the manager and he acted as if he saw no problem with my nails but he was going to fix them and attempted to continue filing my nails shorter than I asked them to be.. after the second attempt he said we were being " too picky ".. the man who did my nails proceeded to approach me with ill words as if I didn't have to tell him multiple times to fix my nails. I will not return here, I have been using this nail salon for 2 years and I haven't had any problems until now. There has been multiple times I have came in for the last couple of months and have gotten horrible service. I continued to come back because I understand some people have bad day. They rushed on the service and did not do good job like usual, there are new workers there that do not value quality service. If you are looking for quality service spend your money elsewhere. I have been going here for about 5 months just to give them a fair chance and I have been only mildly satisfied with the service, except for the when Tyler did my nails he was EXCEPTIONAL. However my last SNS manicure was lumpy, and the shape was poor, and my gel polish pedicure peeled a day after I got it done. I went back to get it fixed and it happened again, a day later. I will never be returning here. I tried this nail salon about 3 weeks ago and absolutely loved it. Today was a whole different experience. I come in to get a gel pedicure and a full set acrylic with gel. I pick a gel polish and the nail tech comes back to tell me it's old and can't be used, OK no biggie i'll pick another one. I mention to him right after i pick the second polish that i would like the deluxe pedicure and he says nothing just continues. He COMPLETELY IGNORES me and gave me a regular pedicure. Fine OK whatever, at this point i'm pretty mad and want to leave so i don't say anything. Now it's finally time to do my nails and everything starts fine with nail process until he's done shaping them and I realize none of them are the same shape. I go to wash my hands like he says to and I come back to the chair to a different nail tech who is going to paint my nails. I told her twice that i was unhappy with the shape and her half ass filed them a couple times but not helping at all. She starts painting the gel on my nail and that al goes fine until she FILED my nails after the gel was dry. This caused the nails polish to not cover the sides of my nails or the tips. She tells me my toes were $65(which it would've been if i had the correct pedicure but no this was incorrect) and my nails were $60. I told her the price was wrong but she insisted that it was correct. If i was you i'd save your money and go somewhere that doesn't over charge people and the nails look good. read more

I rated this salon with 3 stars because I am neutral about my visit. It seemed like a typical nail salon...nothing special. My pedicure was mediocre as I have had better and worse. But, I feel like it could have been slightly better and it was on the lower end as far as good pedicures go. Some salons tend to focus more on things like the leg massage and fragrant scrubs. I prefer the salons where I can get a great pedicure and get out quickly. I don't really care about the other things. The person who did the pedi was very polite with a nice personality. However, she was a little slow and my visit took way too long. The other negative is the price. I feel like the price is too high for an average pedi with nothing luxurious. They charge $30 for a basic pedi and $45 if they use a fragrant scrub. I tip well, so I feel like I would not return because of the price. I would rather spend a little more at a spa and get a true luxury experience or less for a quick in and out pedi. On a positive note, the employees were friendly and smiled. read more
