I absolutely love this place. After getting waxes for so many years and it being super nauseating, I was looking for a change. This is when I stumbled upon sugar waxing. On the day of my appointment, the staff made me feel at ease. They carefully explained the membership options and I wanted to first get through my appointment to see if I would like it. My appointment was with Elizabeth. I really enjoyed her and I feel like she explained the process really well and answered my questions. I told her my prior waxing horror stories and she made me feel really comfortable. She was very gentle and my waxing was really quick. I get the LA Brazilian and Liz is always very attentive. I ended up getting a membership and adding services. I am usually out of my appointment in about 15 minutes. The sugaring is far less painful and I do not have any bumps. I never have a long wait and they are also taking proper precautions with COVID-19. They check your temperature and you cannot sit in the lobby. You also have to wear a mask. I have been coming to LA Bikini for years now but this is my first time coming to the Mountain Brook location. Because of COVID-19, they are not allowing customers to sit in the lobby, so you have to wait in your car until your appointment time. They are also checking temperature as people come in! All the rooms are very clean and the staff was friendly and professional. My sugarist during this visit was Hannah, she was very nice and talkative during the whole time we were together. Went here for a touch up on my bikini area and left with popped blood vessels along my bikini line. The staff was super friendly but the sugarists need a lot more training. There was no pattern to the removal and she was so rough I literally have bruises and popped blood vessels. There was also no sanitary paper on the table. I've been there 3 times and with the same girl doing the sugaring. The first time was great. The last two times were not so great. And my last appointment on Aug.9, she missed a LOT of hair that I had to pluck at home. Spent about 15 minutes on me and said she was done. She was a very nice girl and so I did not want to mention her name here. But the kicker was when I came to the front desk to pay, she was standing right next to the receptionist when the receptionist asked me if I wanted to add a 20% gratuity! It was so rude. I had my first sugaring experience with LA Bikini yesterday. I went in for three services. Partial bikini, underarms, and half legs. The lady at the front desk was super sweet. The new client process was very fast, just answer a couple questions on the iPad and you're done. When my sugarists, Beth, came to the front to greet me she was super nice. She walked me to the room and instructed me to undress for the services. My initial thought was.. "OK, do I just lay on the table? What do I do with the hand towel...? When she started the services I was extremely nervous and of course sweating (lol). The initial pull wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The process got better as we continued. Overall, I was extremely pleased with Beth. When it was time to check out, I went back to the front. The lady at the desk was trying to explain the Savvy Girl membership and I had a hard time understanding how it works. After continuing the conversation, I finally got the gist of the membership. Pros: friendly staff, clean facility, easy to find. Cons: can be expensive, service rooms could use fans. Overall my first experience at LA Bikini was great! I will definitely be back! read more

I booked an appointment a week out and the day before the manager called me while I was at work, she demanded my credit card info to be on file or she would cancel my appointment. I told her I would call her after work and she wouldn't let up and kept threatening to cancel my appointment! I had never been there before and was unaware of their cancellation policy or that the person who booked me failed to collect my info. I ended up calling the manager back after work and explained to her that their terrible customer service cost them a new client and that I was going to post a review. I just did not enjoy the experience. From the beginning everybody was cut and dry. And my technician who actually performed my bikini wax never left the room. I asked her if she was about to step out of the room she told me no. And I just thought that was ridiculous. I actually wanted to turn around and leave right then but I really needed the service as I was going on vacation. Even at your gynecologist, the doctor steps out of the room while you get undressed for a sense of privacy. And She certainly did not leave the room while I got dressed or to walk me to the front desk. And I'm just not used to that type of service. The procedure did go extremely fast though. After a year or so of waxing, I thought I'd see what sugaring is all about. It definitely hurts less and leaves less bumps! The staff here is always friendly and pleasant and I feel pretty comfortable coming regularly. One thing that can be disappointing is that the prices are pretty steep and I have never seen a deal, coupon, or promotion. After being a loyal customer you'd think you'd get SOMETHING every once and a while. I'd also have to say that they almost never go down far enough for a bikini. There is no privacy as your services are performed behind a sheet. 4. I was signed up for a membership without it being explained to me that the membership would cost $70 a month. I have now spent over $300 for 1 procedure. I tried to correct with the staff and I was met with a rude and condescending "manager". I asked why I would sign up for a membership that I didnt use and then she insisted she didn't know why people did stupid things. I'd waxed in the past but it has been a few years...sugaring was about as comfortable/painful as waxing. That's right. I am a thirty-six year old man that gets his back waxed. The fight to keep my hair from creeping from my head to my body began to overwhelm me. Razors couldn't keep up. I was getting hair in places I couldn't reach and my wife was definitely NOT into shaving my back. Enter Katie. She is courteous and professional. She does a good job and keeps a slightly overweight man who is out of his element from feeling anxious. They do body sugaring and it works for about 4 weeks. My only complaint is that she misses a patch on each shoulder no matter how many times I ask her to get it. C'est la vie. If you return buying a package will save you 15-20$ each trip. I had no problems with mine like the other reviewer. The body sugaring (which does the same as waxing, but is more gentle and better for the skin) used to be a few dollars more expensive than waxing, but then they dropped all waxing services and all prices are consistent now. Arrived at my appt at 6:24 (it was for 6:20) and was told I could not be seen. I was there for a lip sugaring which literally takes less than 3 minutes in total from walking back, lying on the table, doing the procedure and walking to the front. I am highly disappointed. Why make appts so close together as to not give some leniency in at least a 5 minute window? Your business is on a highly traveled road where there are accidents all the time that cause traffic issues. I have been going here for years and will honestly never go back after this. Was originally a member at the mountain brook location since last August. Throughout my tenure with la bikini, I can say I have never had a positive experience when booking an appointment or arriving at the salon. I have been to both the Hoover and the Mountain Brook locations and the customer service across the board has been the most negative encounter I have ever dealt with any business. The front desk is always unfriendly and unaccommodating and quite frankly the reviews on this page have me bewildered. My most recent experience with the franchise two days ago was the coup de grace and final patronage I will ever contribute again. When canceling my membership nothing was communicated to me about the terms such as you are not able to use services that you have previously paid for once you cancel. I have never heard of such a thing until the other night since every business I know with membership deals roll over unused and paid services. La bikini charged my credit card without my authorization that mind you was not even on file and caused an overdraft to my account when they were clearly told not to. I can confidently say that I will no longer give this franchise business and will make no further recommendations to friends. read more

READ MEMBERSHIP CONTRACT BEFORE SIGNING!!!!! I happily signed up for the savvy girl membership on my first visit! I was very happy with the booking process, the service, and I was new to sugaring but my experience was a 10 UNTIL I needed to reschedule or cancel my appointment which was the same day. Ok fine I had to pay a cancellation fee but when I asked how to I cancel my entire policy if I wanted to how would I?? I'm in a 6 month agreement for the savvy girl membership this 6 month agreement does not state the responsible party has to get a doctors note stating the services provided are causing "issues" with the person or the person has to live 30 miles away from the location. I had paid for a wax at another salon that did not do a great job and called in for a wax in one area that the previous salon had missed as opposed to a regular full Brazilian. They said no problem come on in. The waxing was not bad at all, actually I was pleased with the quality of the sugaring and enjoyed its ability to get "everything". The down side was the fact that there are only 6' tall curtain dividers between you & the person beside you being waxed and you can hear everything going on. I was a little uneasy getting naked in there bc if someone trips or wants to peek the truly can-very easily! The other shock was the pricing. I had my backside done and I think a chin wax and it was right at $100 . I can get that done for $60 max at at least 3 other places. I get it's MB, but Vestavia has places doing this for $35. read more
