The reason I wanted to give another shout out to TruSmile is because of what happened during my last visit on July 20. I was running super late to make it to my appointment so decided to email Gina telling her my situation, I was going to reschedule (again...) and would pay for the no-show fees since it was my fault and didn't want to waste their time waiting on me. Gina was lightning quick in responding to me and talked to Dr. TruVan to see what they could do in this scenario. Since there was a big enough gap that day, they were able to accommodate with my situation and see me even if it was 40 minutes after my initial appointment time. I was so grateful for their willingness to stick around just to be flexible for me, and I'm sure for other clients as well. When I finally made it to the office, out of breath and all, everyone happily welcomed me and made sure I was okay by offering water and many thoughtful words. Dr. TruVan got my procedure done and I was in and out within an hour or so. A day later, Gina emailed to check-in on me to make sure the healing of my post-op was going okay. They do online appointments which is great, so I gave them a try. My first appointment was great. The staff is friendly and will make you feel comfortable. The other thing I liked is that they will breakdown and explain the services and make sure that you understand the costs. No pressure when you decline some services. The prophylaxis was quick, easy and actually pain-free. I dread going to the dentist but they changed my outlook. I was satisfied, enough to book my future appointments with them. I highly recommend this clinic to everyone, especially if you dread going to the dentist for regular checkups and cleaning.

I stated that I would not agree to anything that required out-of-pocket payment and that I only wanted what was covered under my annual check-up. When they suggested taking X-rays, my husband declined and said he only wanted the cleaning. She told to my husband the X-rays would be fully covered by our insurance and that we would not have to pay anything. However, after I was seated in the dental chair, a coordinator came in and said the total treatment cost would be over $2,000 and that I would need to pay $350. I clearly repeated that both my husband and I only wanted the simple cleaning covered by insurance. They acknowledged this, and we both received only the simple cleaning that day. Two weeks later, the office billed my husband $948 for services not covered by insurance--specifically the X-rays the staffs had told us were fully covered. The office also charged me $88 for "oral hygiene instruction." Instruction? During the visit, the dentist asked when my last cleaning was, and I said four months ago. She mentioned inflammation but didn't identify a cause. I told that I have diabetes and would follow up with my primary care doctor, but that for that day I only wanted the simple cleaning covered by my annual check-up. I believe this billing situation is extremely dishonest. I clearly stated multiple times--when making the appointment, during the visit, to the dentist, and to the coordinator--that I only wanted procedures fully covered by insurance. Yet I still received these charges. I would like to ask: if a dental office says X-rays are fully covered and proceeds with them, but later claims they are not covered, is the patient really responsible for paying the full amount? We found out we were overcharged when the insurance company sent us a summary saying how much they paid and how much we should've been charged by the dentist. After showing their office the insurance company's letter, they agreed to refund us the money they overcharged us. The office was not particularly clean; there was dust on the dental equipment. The receptionist was so professional, polite and friendly! My BF said that he felt safe and took comfort in the fact that the doctor was thorough in trying to save the tooth root if he could - the crack was too bad though, and they had to extract it and graph the area. The doctor was very clear when telling us what the plan was to getting a implant and the timelines needed. The receptionist was very knowledgeable about the insurance coverage and gave us multiple options, providing insight as to how we could maximize our deductions and provided us with additional paperwork we could use when filing workers comp and short term disability with his work.
